Aisenstadt
Vous avez toujours voulu voir un robot de près - voici votre chance. Dans le
cadre de la 43e Journée annuelle commémorative d’information clinique
André Aisenstadt de l’HGJ, le da Vinci S sera en exposition, le 25 octobre
dans l’Amphithéâtre Block (B-106).
Le Dr Nathan Sheiner, ancien chef de chirurgie à l’HGJ, sera honoré lors de
cet événement, qui comprendra une matinée de discussions. Le sujet
sera Chirurgie robotique : c’est aujourd’hui l’avenir. Le personnel est
invité à venir voir le robot et à assister à une démonstration, entre 13h
et 15h.
La Journée d’information clinique est nommée en l’honneur du
Dr Aisenstadt, président honoraire de l’hôpital et membre clé dans la
création de la Fondation de l’HGJ. Jusqu’à sa mort en 2001, le Dr Aisenstadt
avait un intérêt marqué pour encourager l’enseignement et le recherche

43rd Annual André Aisenstadt Memorial Clinical Day
If you’ve ever wanted to see a robot close-up, this is your
chance. The da Vinci S will be on display at the Jewish
General Hospital’s 43rd Annual André Aisenstadt Memorial
Clinical Day on Wednesday, October 25 in the Block Amphitheatre (Room
B-106).
Dr. Nathan Sheiner, former surgeon-in-chief at the JGH, will be honoured
at the event, which will feature a full morning of lectures and discussions
on “Robotic Surgery: The Future is Now”. Staff members are invited to
come see the robot and watch a demonstration between 1 and 3 p.m.
Clinical Day is named for Dr. André Aisenstadt, an Honourary President of
the hospital and a key figure in creating the JGH Foundation. Until his
death in 2001, Dr. Aisenstadt had a particular interest in supporting
teaching and research in medicine.

Service de consultation HGJ sur la thrombose
Pour accompagner les services offerts aux malades externes par la clinique
de thrombose de l’HGJ, un service de consultation pour les malades
hospitalisés, qui offre des consultations sur des sujets se rapportant à la
prévention, au diagnostique et à la gestion de thromboembolies veineuses
dans toutes les zones cliniques de l’Hôpital, a été mis en place depuis le
1er octobre. Des demandes de consultations peuvent être faites via la téléphoniste au poste 8232.
Une affaire de fille
La Prochaine génération de l’HGJ présente Une affaire de fille : un aprèsmidi rempli de bonne bouffe, une vente aux enchères, un tirage, des prix
de présence et beaucoup plus! Tous les fonds seront versés au Fonds de
dotation Gloria Shapiro pour la recherche sur le cancer des ovaires du
Centre du cancer Segal.

Shemini Atsérêt / Simchat Torah
La fête juive de Shemini Atsérêt (8e jour de l’assemblée) succède
immédiatement à la fête du Souccot (le 14 octobre). Simchat Torah (la fête
de la Joie de la Torah) a lieu le 15 octobre. Cette fête marque la fin du
cycle annuel de la lecture hebdomadaire de la Torah. Veuillez noter que
les cafés de l’HGJ seront fermés les 14 et 15 octobre.

JGH Thrombosis Consultation Service
To complement the out-patient services presently offered by the JGH
Thrombosis Clinic, an in-patient Thrombosis Consultation Service, which
provides consultations on issues pertaining to the prevention, diagnosis and
management of venous thromboembolic disease to all clinical areas of the
hospital, has been established as of October 1. Requests for consultation
may be made via Locating at local 8232.
It’s a Girl Thing
The Next Generation of the JGH Foundation presents the Third Annual It’s
a Girl Thing: an afternoon filled with great food, an auction, raffle, door
prizes and more! All proceeds will benefit the Gloria Shapiro Endowment
Fund for Ovarian Cancer Research at the Segal Cancer Centre.

Shemini Atzeret / Simchat Torah
The Jewish festival of Shemini Atzeret (Assembly of the eighth day) falls
immediately after the holiday of Sukkot (October 14). Simchat Torah
(Rejoicing in the Torah) takes place on October 15. This holiday marks the
completion of the annual cycle of weekly Torah readings.
Please note that the JGH coffee shops will be closed on October 14 and 15.
Auxiliary Fall Fair
The annual JGH Auxiliary Fall Fair is coming soon, with more
bargains than ever! Browse and buy the latest new merchandise
in housewares, china, jeans, accessories, and more! Proceeds go
towards the purchase of Pituitary Endoscopic Instrumentation
for the JGH Division of Neurosurgery. The Fall Fair takes place
