This is an energy efficient ho use that was built by the University o f Ubo nratchathani in 20 0 5 as part o f a research pro ject
funded by the Ministry o f Energy o f Thailand. 2-sto rey ho use with 2 bedro o ms o n the seco nd flo o r and living space do wnstairs
is made o f co ncrete structure. Upper flo o r plate is bigger to act as shading fo r lo wer o ne. The distinct feature is a chimney
aligned at center o f the ho use to ventilate during the daytime. The ro o fs are break into 2 pieces and tilted like butterfly wings
shape into the chimney to create the pressure different fo r venturi effect under the ro o f and gain benefit fro m night radiatio n.

residential building. Passive building techniques are applied to this pro ject such as stack ventilatio n, radiative co o ling, venturi
effect, self-shading and building o rientatio n. The building is equipped with thermo co uple to study o n an effect o f these design
technique.
