This p r o p e r t y i s l o c a t e d about 2 m i l e s n o r t h of Creston on
t h e h i l l s i d e above t h e railway, a t t h e 1,500 f t . e l e v a t i o n .
Prospectors staked t h i s l o c a l i t y i n 1893 b u t very l i t t l e
development work was done u n t i l 1901 *en550 f t . of c r o s s c u t t i n g ,
150 f t . of r a i s i n g , and s e v e r a l hundred f e e t of d r i f t i n g was
completed. I n 1904 t h e A l i c e Broughton Mining Co. took over t h e
property, continued t h e underground development work and b u i l t a
50-ton c o n c e n t r a t o r . The m i l l operated p a r t t i m e d u r i n g t h e
following-year and then o p e r a t i o n s ceased.
I n 1925 t h e A l i c e Group, c o n s i s t i n g of t h r e e claims, t h e
A l i c e , t h e A l i c e F r a c t i o n , and t h e Morning S t a r were acquired by
t h e P o r c u p ~ n e . G o l d f i e l d sDevelopment & Finance Co. b u t v e r y
l i t t l e development work was done. Ownership of t h e property was
obtained by-Messrs. Constable & S t a p l e s i n 1949. A road w a s
b u i l t t o t h e mine and t h e lower tunnel p a r t i a l l y cleaned out.
The following year a l e a s e was given on t h e property and t h e
mine dump was s o r t e d and shipped t o T r a i l . No work has been
done s i n c e . t h a t time. Considerable caving of t h e o l d workings
has taken p l a c e .

The d e p o s i t c o n s i s t s of veins and l e n s e s of galena,
c a r r y i n g i n a d d i t i o n a l i t t l e p y r i t e and q u a r t z b u t almost no
s p h a l e r i t e . The r a t i o of silver t o l e a d i s about 113 ounce t o
1 per cent. The v e i n s and l e n s e s occur i n s t r o n g l y sheared
and f a u l t e d a r g i l l a c e o u s q u a r t z i t e i n t h e main zone of f a u l t i n g running n o r t h from Creston. Post-mineral f a u l t i n g has
d i s t u r b e d t h e o r e i n many p l a c e s , s o t h a t shoots a r e d i f f i c u l t
t o f i n d and follow.

This property was worked intermittently from 1900 to 1950Total ore shipped amounted to 7,618 tons. From this ore 2 oz.
of gold, 17,309 oz.of silver, 1,222,459 lb. of lead, and
1,043 lb. of zinc were recovered.
