This property is l o c a t e d between e l e v a t i o n s of 5,500 and
6,500 f e e t on t h e c r e s t of a long north-trending r i d g e of Zus
Mountain, 8 miles north-northeast of C a s s i a r .
The C h r y s o t i l e and O l i v i n g groups t o t a l l i n g 8 claims were
l o c a t e d on t h e showings i n 1950 by M.G. Mossop and G. Edzerza;
t h e a d j a c e n t ground was staked (18 claims i n 7 groups) by
s e v e r a l i n d i v i d u a l s , I n 1951 t h e o r i g i n a l claims lapsed and
approximately t h e same ground was restaked a s t h e Asbestos
N o s . - 1 - 8 - c l a i m by J . C . Simpson. S e v e r a l companies a r e r e p o r t e d
t o have examined t h e d e p o s i t p r i o r t o 1960 b u t a s f a r a s known
no work o t h e r than g e o l o g i c a l and geophysical surveys was done.
A group of 31 claims was h e l d under o p t i o n by Canadian
Johns-Manville Company, Limited, i n 1965. Work during t h e y e a r
included a magnetometer survey and 2,250 f e e t of b u l l d o z e r
trenching; t h e o p t i o n was subsequently terminated.

Cross-fibre c h r y s o t i l e a s b e s t o s occurs i n v e i n l e t s i n a
s e r p e n t i n e mass about 3 m i l e s long and a maximum width of I$
miles. The a s b e s t o s occurs widely i n t h e s e r p e n t i n e , b u t wit1
few exceptions i t i s i n v e i n l e t s of widths of less t h a n 1/8
i n c h and u s u a l l y less than 1/16 inch. The v e i n l e t s a r e
normally s c a t t e r e d widely and run i n a l l d i r e c t i o n s .
