HISTORY OF EXPLORATION AND DEVELOPMENT HISTORIRUE DE L'EXPLORATION ET DE LA MISE EN VALEUR This p r o p e r t y i s l o c a t e d a t t h e 3,600 f o o t e l e v a t i o n on t h e n o r t h s i d e of a g l a c i a l tongue l y i n g i n t h e upper e a s t f o r k of Roosevelt Creek, some 12 miles n o r t h e a s t of Stewart. The 5 claim S t . Elmo group was owned during 1919-1920 by Messrs. Cowan, McGinnis, and Watkins, of Stewart, who a l s o owned t h e J u t l a n d group of claims l y i n g about 3 m i l e t o t h e s o u t h a c r o s s t h e g l a c i e r . Exploration work on t h e S t . Elmo was done i n open c u t s , and i n one s h o r t a d i t on t h e upper lens. The Bingo group of 4 claims, which a r e i n p a r t a r e s t a k i n g of t h e S t . Elmo ground, was acquired i n 1946 by A. Cameron and L. Robichaud, of Stewart. During 1947 a s h o r t a d i t was d r i v e n on t h e lower l e n s , from which a small amount of o r e was shipped. BINGO (ST. ELMO) OBJECT LOCATE,D OBJET LOCA LlSE UNCERTAINTY FACTEUR D'INCERTITUDE B r i t i s h Columbia - DESCR IPTlON OF DEPOSITIDESCRIPTION DU GISEMENT The rocks on t h i s p r o p e r t y a r e medium-grained, s i l l - l i k e i n t r u s i v e s , i n t r u d i n g and surrounding masses of a r g i l l i t e . The a r g i l l i t e beds s t r i k e n o r t h e a s t e r l y and d i p g e n t l y s o u t h e a s t ward, except where crumpled l o c a l l y . The c o n t a c t s of t h e a r g i l l i t e and i n t r u s i v e s s t r i k e about ~ 2 0 " E , though tongues of t h e i n t r u s i v e s c u t i n t o t h e a r g i l l i t e s f o r a few f e e t . A p y r i t i z e d f r a c t u r e zone, s t r i k i n g N70QE and dipping s t e e p l y southward occurs i n s u r f a c e outcrop over a width of from 10 t o 20 f e e t . This zone can be followed f o r 500 f e e t up s l o p e between e l e v a t i o n s of 3,600 and 3,800 f e e t . Within t h e zone l i e s a v e i n which f o r most of i t s exposed l e n g t h i s from 1 t o 2 i n c h e s wide. It i s g e n e r a l l y narrowest where i t c u t s a r g i l l i t e s and i s w i d e s t , about 1 f o o t , where i t c u t s i n t r u s i v e s . Two wider p o r t i o n s ( l e n s e s ) of t h e v e i n occur a t 50 and 125 f e e t from t h e lowest outcrop. I n an o l d a d i t t h e upper l e n s decreases i n width t o 3 i n c h i n 20 f e e t . The v e i n c o n s i s t s of c o a r s e l y c r y s t a l l i n e c a l c i t e , galena, and sphaleri t e , w i t h small amounts of fine-grained q u a r t z , t e t r a h e d r i t e , and c h a l c o p y r i t e .
