The country rock i s Precambrian Aldridge q u a r t z i t e w i t h
minor s i l l s of P u r c e l l l a v a s . Strong s h e a r i n g i n t h e q u a r t z i t e beds conforms t o t h e i r s t r i k e of N7OE and d i p of 70°W.
The d e p o s i t c o n s i s t s of a vuggy q u a r t z v e i n occupying a
sheared f i s s u r e which s t r i k e s N30°W and d i p s s t e e p l y t o t h e
w e s t . Pinching and swelling of t h e v e i n gives a v a r i a t i o n i n
width from a few inches t o 20 f t . Galena occurs a s s t r e a k s
and pockets i n t h e q u a r t z v e i n , c o n s t i t u t i n g a m i l l i n g grade
of o r e . Small specimens of l e a d phosphate and copper p y r i t e
have been found i n t h e vein.

M ~ u n t a i nt o t h e n o r t h of Creston a t a n e l e v a t i o n of 4,350 f t .
A seven m i l e a c c e s s road was b u i l t t o t h e mine i n 1950 from a
p o i n t 5 m i l e s e a s t of Creston on t h e Creston-Cranbrook highway.
Henry Roy & J . B . Gosselin s t a k e d t h e s e claims i n 1900.
Their a r e a (Lot 2858) contained 51.65 a c r e s . No major development work was done on t h e p r o p e r t y u n t i l 1928 when i t was worked
under o p t i o n by Messrs. Young & Hayden of Creston. Two prospect
t u n n e l s were d r i v e n , t h e upper one 50 f t . i n l e n g t h , t h e second
one 50 f t . lower down t h e h i l l was advanced 210 f t . t o a p o i n t
50 f t . beyond t h e f a c e of t h e upper t u n n e l . The following y e a r
t h e claims were rebonded t o F.S. Rivers of Vancouver, B.C., but
no development work i s recorded. Nothing more was done w i t h
t h i s property f o r 20 y r s . w i t h t h e exception of a few tons of
o r e shipped i n 1947.
Ownership of t h e Delaware Group, c o n s i s t i n g of t h e Delaware
No. 2, t h e V i r g i n i a , and t h e Ohio claims was obtained by J.W.
H i l l i n 1949, H e gave a 5 y e a r l e a s e on t h e property t o R.W. &
F,E. Crawford of Creston. The upper a d i t was lengthened t o 125
f t . and t h e 2nd a d i t was extended t o a t o t a l of 330 f t . of
d r i f t s and c r o s s c u t s . A s t o p e was s t a r t e d on a 40 f t . s e c t i o n
200 f t . i n from t h e p o r t a l . P a s t t h i s s t o p e t h e v e i n i s c u t by
a f a u l t b u t t h e v e i n was picked up on t h e o t h e r s i d e . Anather
a d i t 100 f t . below No. 2 a d i t was d r i v e n f o r 65 f t . b u t t h e v e i n
was n o t i n t e r s e c t e d .
D r i f t i n g on t h e v e i n p a s t t h e f a u l t t o a p o i n t 300 f t . from
t h e p o r t a l was done i n 1950. A s u b l e a s e was given i n 1951 and a
small amount of o r e w a s shipped. About 1,700 f t . of diamond
d r i l l i n g was done i n 1952. The v e i n below t h e lowest a d i t was
i n t e r s e c t e d b u t t h e information obtained w a s inconclusive.
Geophysical work done by McPhar Geophysics Ltd. i n 1958 was
a p p l i e d t o assessment requirements. A copy of t h e r e p o r t on
t h i s work may b e examined a t t h e o f f i c e of t h e Mining Recorder,
Nelson, B.C.

was made, t o 1951, 285 t o n s o f o r e h a s b e e n s h i p p e d from t h e s e
claims. From t h i s o r e 1 ounce o f g o l d , 1 , 2 4 2 ounces of s i l v e r ,
61,807 pounds o f l e a d , and 1,179 pounds o f z i n c w e r e r e c o v e r e d .
The l a s t shipment, amounting t o 33 t o n s , was made i n 1952.
