2012 ANNÉE INTERNATIONALE DES COOPÉRATIVES
Rejoignez-nous pour célébrer l’Année internationale des Coopératives à Fisherman’s Haven Park le
dimanche 8 juillet de 13h00 à 16h00 (en cas de pluie le 15 juillet). Il y aura de la musique, des activités
pour enfants, une fée de ballon, des fruits de mer fraîche et un barbecue! Cet évènement est organisé par
la Co-op de Tignish, la Co-op de Tignish Fisheries et la Caisse Populaire de Tignish.
2012 INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF COOPERATIVES
Join us in celebrating the International Year of Cooperatives at Fisherman’s Haven Park on Sunday, July
8th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (rain date July 15th). There will be live music, children activities, a balloon
fairy, fresh seafood, and a barbeque! This event is hosted by the Tignish Co-op, Tignish Fisheries Co-op,
and Tignish Credit Union.
ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION BRANCH #6
v Join us on Sunday, July 1st for a pancake breakfast at the Branch from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. We
will be raising the flag at 10:30 a.m.
v Kick off the Tignish Legion’s 80th Anniversary by coming to dance the night away with “Old Doctor
Young” on Saturday, July 7th, from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. (upstairs). Draws will be made throughout
the evening for goodies and prizes!
DÎNER AU RÔTI DE BOEUF
Venez nous joindre pour un dîner délicieux au rôti de boeuf le dimanche 1 juillet débutant à 12h00 au
Centre communautaire de Palmer Road. Le dîner consiste d’un rôti de boeuf avec toutes les garnitures,
thé, café, et dessert. Le coût est adultes 10$ et enfants 5$. Les profits iront pour l’entretien de la salle.
ROAST BEEF DINNER
Join us for a delicious roast beef dinner on Sunday, July 1st, beginning at 12:00 p.m., at the Palmer
Road Community Centre. Dinner consists of roast beef with all the trimmings, tea, coffee, and dessert.
The cost is adults $10 and children $5. Proceeds will go towards the up-keep of the Hall.
50/50 TICKETS
Tignish Children’s Wish Committee will be selling 50/50 tickets along the Tignish Irish Moss Parade route
on Sunday, July 1st. Money raised will go to grant wishes to children who have a high risk, life threatening
disease. We look forward to your support of this very worthwhile cause.
TIGNISH HERITAGE CAR SHOW
The Tignish Heritage Car Show will take place on Sunday, July 1st following the Irish Moss Festival
Parade, at 171 Chiasson Rd. Registration begins at 12:00 p.m. and show time is from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00
p.m. General admission is adults $5, students $2, and under 12 free. There will be antique autos, classic
50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s street rods, motorcycles, and antique tractors. There will be prizes in all classes,
along with Participants Choice and People’s Choice awards. Special draws will take place throughout the
day. Registration fee is $10 per entry. For more information, contact Judy Gavin at 882-3111.
ROYAL STAR FOODS – TIGNISH FISHERIES
The hours of operation for the months of July and August will be Monday to Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00
p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. We will have live markets and canners during these
months.

Les Centres Accès Î.-P.-É. seront fermés le lundi 2 juillet en raison de la fête du Canada étant le
dimanche.
ACCESS P.E.I.
Access P.E.I. offices will be closed on Monday, July 2nd in lieu of Canada Day being on Sunday.
ST. LOUIS T.O.P.S.
St. Louis T.O.P.S. meets every Monday at the St. Louis Community Hall. Weigh-in is from 6:00 p.m. to
6:30 p.m. and our meeting is from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. We like to see old members returning and new
members are always welcome!

The Palmer Road Liberty A.F.G. is holding an Open Al-Anon Meeting at the Palmer Road Community
Centre on Monday, July 2nd, at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
TIGNISH PUBLIC LIBRARY
Beginning Tuesday, July 3rd, the library will be operating under summer hours. Story time and crafts will
begin the week of July 9th. Our summer reading program is now underway. Our theme this summer is
“Imagine.” Please register your child to receive a poster and activity booklet and record the number of
minutes they read over the summer. Certificates are given out when the program is finished. Summer
hours are Monday to Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday from 9:00
a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and on Saturday from 1:00
p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
ST. FELIX GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
‰ The Junior Program will begin on Wednesday, July 4th and run for eight weeks. This one hour lesson
will take place every Wednesday. Call to pre-register your child from ages 6 to 14 years old.
‰ The golf tournament in aid of the Tignish Health Centre that was cancelled because of rain has been
rescheduled for Sunday, July 8th, at 10:00 a.m. (note change of time). There is still room to sign up.
‰ Men’s night every Tuesday beginning at 6:30 p.m. (note change of time).
‰ Ladies interested in having an evening of golf and fun, are asked to call in your name. We will begin the
second week of July.
‰ The next scheduled tournament for the IWK is on Sunday, July 15th. More information to follow.
‰ Book your tournament now for the coming months.
V’NEZ CHOU NOUS – THÉÂTRE ACADIEN
Le théâtre acadien « V’nez Chou Nous » sera de retour cette année au Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest,
situé à 119, ch DeBlois. Cette comédie française, écrite et dirigée par Raymond J. Arsenault intitulée « Ça
me « tente » pas d’aller camper! », ne manquera pas de vous faire rire. Les dates de spectacles sont
les jeudis 5, 12, et 19 juillet et 2, 9, 16, 23, et 30 août. Billets pour le spectacle seulement est 15$
adultes et 8$ pour enfants âgés de 12 ans et moins ou avec repas inclus pour 30$ adultes et 15$ pour les

l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard, c. 1764 - c. 1900, du généalogiste Jean Bernard, qui aura lieu au Musée acadien,
à Miscouche, le jeudi 5 juillet, à 19h00. Ce livre de 688 pages comprend la généalogie des Caissie,
Cheverie, Chiasson (Chaisson), Cormier, Daigle (Deagle), DesRoches, Doiron, Doucet (Doucette), et

LAUNCH OF VOLUME III ON THE GENEALOGY OF THE ACADIAN FAMILIES OF P.E.I.
The public is invited to the launch of Volume III: C-F on the genealogy of Acadian families of P.E.I., c. 1764
to c. 1900, by genealogist Mr. Jean Bernard, at the Acadian Museum, in Miscouche, on Thursday, July
5th, at 7:00 p.m. This book of 688 pages includes the genealogy of the Caissie, Cheverie, Chiasson
(Chaisson), Cormier, Daigle (Deagle), DesRoches, Doiron, Doucet (Doucette), and other families. Although
mainly in French, the book includes translations in English of all the key words and abbreviations used. A

MOTORCYCLE POKER RUN
The Miminegash Fire Department will be holding a Motorcycle Poker Run on Sunday, July 8th.
Registration will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Miminegash Fire Hall. Cost is $10 for bike and $5
for passenger. Cash prizes given out for the best poker hand! All the proceeds will be in aid of the
Miminegash Fire Department to help purchase much needed equipment!
IMMACULATE CONCEPTION (BRAE) PARISH PICNIC
Please reserve Sunday, July 8th for the Immaculate Conception (Brae) annual Parish Picnic. The picnic
will follow an 11:30 a.m. mass in the Brae and promises to be a fun-filled day of music and
entertainment. The afternoon will start with a barbeque immediately following mass, and will include music
by Ceilidh Brae, as well as activities such as: bingo, games, fish pond, cake auction, and white elephant
table. Games will include many old-time favorites, as a new and exciting rendition of Deal or No Deal.
Come on out and enjoy a day in the Brae!
COMMUNITY OF TIGNISH
Ø The Municipal Office will be closed on Monday, July 2nd, due to Canada Day on Sunday, July 1st. The
office will resume for business on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. Have an enjoyable Canada Day/Irish Moss
Festival week-end.
Ø The Council’s Regular Monthly Meeting will be held on Monday, July 9th, at 7:00 p.m. in the
Boardroom of the Municipal Office, 209 Phillip Street. The second reading will entertain on “Dangerous
and Unsightly Property Bylaw” and Zoning of PID #843573, 549568, and 825075 (located on the west
side of the Community).
BENEFIT
There will be a benefit in aid of Cindy Perry, who is waiting to undergo her second spinal surgery, on
Sunday, July 15th, at 7:00 p.m., at the Tignish Legion. There will be an auction, entertainment, food, and
50/50. Please come show your support.
IRISH HERITAGE FESTIVAL OF P.E.I. 2012
The Irish Heritage Festival of P.E.I. (former Tignish Irish Folk Festival) will take place August 1st to
August 5th this year with most activities being held at the West Prince Heritage Properties on Chaisson
Road, where you can camp and stay for the entire weekend. Headliners this year include John McDermott
and Rawlins Cross. For more information, check our website at www.ifpei.com.
