Today we are mindful of all the blessings
you have given us. You have given us
many material blessings, and so many
other things. Yet we know there are many
of our neighbours, and others throughout
the world, who don’t have as much as we
do. As we rejoice this day in your generosity to us, help us as good stewards to share a suitable portion of the gifts we have received from you.
Blessed be God forever. Amen.

7th Sunday in Ordinary Time
7e dimanche du temps ordinaire
February 19, 2012
7th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Many came to Jesus believing he would heal them, but in
the midst of the crowd were some waiting to catch him
crossing religious boundary lines. Whether it was the believers who actively sought him out or his enemies with malice
in their hearts, they both wanted to know the same thing:
Who is this man?
Lent Begins this Week!
The invitation of this grace-filled period of
40 days calls us to holiness. As we begin
Lent this week, please consider what you
may accomplish to deepen your relationship
with Jesus. Perhaps daily mass, praying the
rosary, taking time for spiritual reading or
daily reflection and praying for someone in
the parish may be beneficial to your spiritual life. The more traditional forms of
spiritual renewal are through penance, sacrifice and works
of charity. Lent can allow us to unite our daily sacrifices
with those that Jesus embraced in His passion. The gift of
our charity can also be both a blessing for others and for
ourselves. Reflect and decide to improve your friendship
with Jesus.
Ash Wednesday
is a day of fast and abstinence.
Catholics are required to abstain from eating meat and no
food between meals. A bilingual mass will be celebrated at
7pm. Distribution of ashes will occur during the Liturgy of
the Word. Each of the schools in our parish will celebrate
Ash Wednesday, but they will NOT have mass.

Parenting Tip…
The early days of Lent are a perfect time to talk to our children
about the 40 days Jesus spent in the wilderness, fasting and praying
to God. Explain to them that Lent is a time
when we strive to grow closer to God through
fasting, prayer and good works. Don’t let your
children ‘give something up’ without talking to
them about the deeper meaning of Lent as a
time to grow in holiness and to show care for
our neighbors. Help your children learn about
Jesus by reading the Bible together; help them
self-reflect with discussions and prayer on how we can be more
Christ-like in our world; most importantly, remind them of the great
hope that comes to us after Lent when we celebrate Easter!
