Semaine des soins infirmiers à l’HGJ
La Semaine des soins infirmiers 2007 de l’HGJ se déroule du 7 au 11 mai.
Cette année encore le Comité de la Semaine des soins infirmiers s’affaire à
organiser de nombreux événements dont le quatrième Barbecue de la
Semaine des soins infirmiers.

La Soirée des culottés
Nous courons en sous-vêtements ! Choisissez votre « petite
tenue » et joignez-vous à la Soirée des culottés du Centre du
cancer Segal ! Une course de 10km/marche de 5km, le samedi 2 juin, pour mettre en déroute les cancers dévastateurs que
sont le cancer de la prostate, du colon, des ovaires, des testicules, de
la vessie, de l’utérus et du col de l’utérus. Souvent « tabous », ces
cancers ne reçoivent pas l’attention et le financement nécessaires. Il
est grand temps de lever le voile là-dessus et d’exposer la cause en
pleine lumière, comme elle le mérite !
Après la course, prolongez le plaisir en participant au party EXPOsé, où vous pourrez fêter et danser jusqu’aux p’tites heures du matin. Avec les fonds recueillis, on peut faire toute la différence en

JGH Nursing Week
JGH Nursing Week 2007 takes place May 7 to 11, and once again, the JGH
Nursing Week Committee is planning a busy schedule of events, including
the fourth annual Nursing Week Barbecue!

run/5K walk on Saturday, June 2 is out to help put
devastating cancers like prostate, colorectal, ovarian,
testicular, bladder, cervical, and uterine on the run. These cancers
are often considered taboo and don’t get the funding and awareness they need. So it’s time to lift that taboo and expose this cause
for what it’s worth — something we can all shed some light on!

Service transfusionnel : Déménagement / Rénovations complètes
Mercredi le 9 mai, le service transfusionnel sera retourné au salle D-115.
Par conséquence, le délai de traitement des spécimens sera plus long que
la norme. Toutefois, les urgences seront prioritaires. Si possible,
acheminez tous les échantillons pour les patients qui ont besoin des
produits compatibles, le 8 mai avant 22h. Aussi, nous apprécierons
recevoir des appels téléphoniques uniquement pour les demandes
urgentes. Merci de votre collaboration.
Journée nationale du denim
Le mardi 15 mai, portez des jeans au travail et affichez votre soutien à un
merveilleux organisme national : la Fondation Cure. Celle-ci subventionne
la recherche pour le cancer du sein et célébrera la Journée nationale du
denim. Portez du denim et faites un don minium de 5 $. Vous pourrez
déposer votre don, le 15 mai, dans l’un des deux kiosques de la
Fondation Cure – l’un situé à l’entrée de la rue Légaré et l’autre situé dans

Mise à jour sur la construction
L’entrée principale, située au 3755 Ch. de la Côte-SainteCatherine, sera fermée pour une période d’au moins 12 mois.
Cette fermeture marque le début de la phase d’excavation du
projet d’agrandissement et de réaménagement de la Division de radiooncologie. Le personnel de l’hôpital et les visiteurs pourront emprunter
l’entrée du pavillon A ou celle de la rue Légaré.
Conférence en soins palliatifs
Le Conseil des Soins palliatifs présente la dixième conférence annuelle
Sandra Goldberg : « Palliative Care Isn't Just About Cancer » — une
conférence gratuite, ouverte au public — avec le Dr Gian Domenico Borasio (Titulaire de la chaire de médecine palliative à l’Université de Munich
en Allemagne).

Transfusion Service: Moving / Renovations complete
On Wednesday, May 9, the Transfusion Service will be returning to Room
D-115. There will be a longer delay in the response time for specimen
processing. Emergencies will have priority. If possible, specimens for
patients requiring crossmatched products on this day should be received on
May 8 before 10 p.m. Also, it will be much appreciated if any phone inquiries could be reduced to urgent ones only. Thank you for your cooperation.
National Denim Day
Wear jeans to work and support a great cause on National Denim
Day, which takes place Tuesday, May 15! A suggested $5 donation
will enable participants to wear denim and donate funds to the Cure
Foundation, a national organization that provides funding for
research into breast cancer. To participate, please make your
donation at one of the Cure Foundation’s booths on May 15: at the Légaré
entrance and in the Atrium. For more information, please visit

Construction update
The main entrance at 3755 Côte-Sainte-Catherine Road is now closed for a
period of at least 12 months. This marks the beginning of the excavation
phase to expand the Radiation Oncology Division. Hospital staff and
visitors will be able to use the Pavilion A entrance (Côte-des-Neiges). The
Légaré entrance will be open as usual. Valet parking will be available at
both entrances. The main security desk will be located at the Pavilion A
entrance throughout the construction period. All deliveries will be made at
the delivery platform behind the hospital.

The Council on Palliative Care presents the 10th Annual Sandra Goldberg
Lecture: “Palliative Care Isn't Just About Cancer” – a free public lecture in
its series “Lessons in Living from the Dying” – with Dr. Gian Domenico
Borasio (Chair, Palliative Medicine, University of Munich, Germany).

4 West Unit Update
