The Canadian Skin Patient Alliance
January 2016 The Canadian Skin Patient Alliance Empowering you patients with hope & ways to cope! Like always, the Canadian Skin Patient Alliance (CSPA) is here to support your efforts to care for your patients. In 2016, the CSPA will continue to: advocate for patients, educate Canadians about various dermatological conditions and provide skin patients with tools to potentially help them heal, inside and out. Over the years we have addressed various segments that make-up the skin patient's journey. This year, we will again communicate about common misdiagnoses, when to see a dermatologist, adherence to treatments, issues with access to medications and educating your patients to be their own health advocates. But this year, there`s more… A spotlight on psycho-social support A happier skin patient helps the journey towards a healthier patient! Thus, our goal in 2016 is to help your patients cope with some of the emotional burdens of living with a skin condition. Our objective is to: • • • Educate the patient with a better understanding of what`s happening to them emotionally and why. Empower the patient with information and tools to help them cope with their feelings. Encourage the patient to take action: to see a dermatologist, a therapist, to better adhere to treatment, to join a support group and more! We have two powerful vehicles to put this plan into action: Canadian Skin magazine & our social media platforms. Canadian Skin M agazine: the 7 th year in publication With an expanded distribution of over 22,000 copies (annually), Canadian Skin magazine is adding a psycho-social column in each of its three issues in 2016. These articles will be written by authors with a psychology education and/or experience. Social M edia In the last few years, we have gained momentum in capturing the attention of our social media viewers. With specific ad campaigns to targeted audiences, we have already reached millions of readers with our messages. This year, we will target more specifically those suffering with skin issues that require emotional support. Thank you for your dedication to Canadian skin patients.
