Saskatchewan Update - Canadian Dermatology Association
October 2014
Saskatchewan Update
Nicole Hawkins Scoon, MD, FRCPC
It’s harvest time in Saskatchewan and this fall we are enjoying a bumper crop – three new
dermatologists have set up practice in the province! Dr. Rachel Asiniwasis started her practice
on the University of Regina campus at Aspen Medical Centre this summer. She is seeing a
diverse group of patients and is very busy already. This is in addition to Drs. McKay and
Holfeld who continue to work to improve the skin of those in Southern Saskatchewan. North
up highway 11, Dr. Lichtenwald is working tirelessly to see all of the dermatology patients in
Saskatoon and surrounding area, as well as training U of S dermatology residents in his office.
Drs. Angela Law and Nicole Hawkins have opened up a new practice in the city to help share
the workload; SkinSense Dermatology opened its doors September 15th in downtown
Saskatoon.
This September, Drs. Asiniwasis, Hawkins, Holfeld and Law spoke at the Dermatology CME for
Saskatchewan Family Physicians held in Regina, presenting topics from Acne to Hair Loss.
The conference was incredibly well attended, with 160 family doctors registering for the
weekend. Attendees enjoyed small group sessions from U of S dermatology residents Drs.
Monica Miliszewski and Olivia Potok, and everyone was especially excited about keynote talks
from special guests Dr. Miriam Weinstein and Dr. Joseph Lam.
Lastly and certainly not least, we wish Dr. Hull all the best after his retirement from the
University of Saskatchewan!
Best wishes from the Land of the Living Skies.
