ADULT EDUCATION HIGH SCHOOL CREDITS/GED COURSES NOW OPEN OR STARTING SOON
Do you need a grade 12 diploma or are you short of a high school credit such as Math, English, Biology, etc.?
Then, we are here to help you! High school credits/GED are available starting now at Holland College West
Prince Center in Alberton. Full-time day classes are offered from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday or
part-time night classes on Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.. Full time GED instruction
starts on November 5th at the Alberton Center and January 2, 2013 at the Dalton Center, in Tignish. There is
NO COST TO YOU. Start when you are ready. Learn at your own pace. For further information, phone 8530024 and ask for Tammy or drop in to Holland College Alberton to check things out.
ACCESS P.E.I.
Access P.E.I. will be closed on Monday, October 8th, Thanksgiving Day. We are back to our regular hours of
operations 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
COMMUNITY OF TIGNISH
• The Community and Recreation Office will be closed on Monday, October 8th, Thanksgiving Day, and
resume for business on Tuesday, October 9th and back to the winter hours of 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and
1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Happy Thanksgiving weekend.
• The Community Council’s Monthly Meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 9th at 7:00 p.m. in the
Boardroom of the Municipal Office. The agenda will include the second reading of the rezoning of PID No.
825075, located west of the Old Western Road from Agricultural and Forestry to Commercial.
• The Municipal Election will be on Monday, November 5th. The Nomination paper must be filed on Monday,
October 22nd before 4:00 p.m. for those interested in running for Councillor or Chairperson. All seats are
vacant.

TIGNISH CHILDREN’S WISH PARADE
Tignish Children’s Wish Parade will be held on Saturday, October 13th with registration at 1:00 p.m. at the
Tignish Fire Hall and the Parade at 2:00 p.m. There will also be a craft table and face painting before the
Parade begins. All participants are invited back to the Fire Hall following the Walk for hot-dogs, chips, pop, door
prizes, etc. The prize for the person who collects the most money is a “Wal-Mart Gift Card”. Pledge forms are
available from Jeanette Harper at Tignish Irving or by calling Wilma Morrissey at 882-2718.
50/50 BINGO
The Golden Slipper Friends of the Tignish Seniors Home will be hosting a 50/50 bingo at the Tignish Legion on
Sunday, October 14th at 2:00 p.m. Please bring your own markers. Fudge and 50/50 tickets will also be sold.

Le Centre l’Arc-en-ciel, preschool centre, is organizing a family Halloween Bingo as a Fundraiser for the Centre

NOMINATION FOR COUNCIL
The municipality of St. Louis is accepting nomination for Council. Anyone interested in putting their name
forward can contact Linda McCue at 882-2447 or Juanita Gaudet at 882-2178. All names must be submitted
by October 22nd. On Wednesday, October 24th, a special election meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the St.
Louis Community Centre.
HALLOWEEN DANCE
Old Doctor Young will be playing at the Palmer Road Community Center from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on
Saturday, October 27th for a Halloween dance. There will be judging of costumes at 11:30 p.m. Admission is
$7 a person. All 19 years and older are welcome. Come on out for some spooky fun for Halloween!
TURKEY SUPPER
The Sacred Heart Parish, in Alberton, is hosting a turkey supper on Sunday, October 28th. Take-out meals will
be available for pick-up between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Sit down meals will be served from 4:30 p.m. to
6:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children. You can purchase your ticket by calling Jean
