June 24, 2012 / 24 juin 2012 V’NEZ CHOU NOUS – ACADIAN THEATRE The Acadian theatre, “V’nez Chou Nous 2012”, will be returning this year at the Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest, located at 119 DeBlois Rd. This French comedy, written and directed by Raymond J. Arsenault entitled “Ça me «tente» pas d’aller camper!” will be sure to have you laughing. The dates for performances are Thursdays, July 5th, 12th, and 19th and August 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th. Tickets for show only are $15 for adults and $8 for children ages 12 years and under or with meal included $30 for adults and $15 for children. To reserve a ticket call 882-0475, ext. 147. V’NEZ CHOU NOUS – THÉÂTRE ACADIEN Le théâtre acadien « V’nez Chou Nous » sera de retour cette année au Centre acadien de PrinceOuest, situé à 119, ch DeBlois. Pour réserver un billet appelez le 882-0475, ext. 147. 2012 INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF COOPERATIVES Join us in celebrating the International Year of Cooperatives at Fisherman’s Haven Park on Sunday, July 8th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (rain date July 15th). There will be live music, children activities, a balloon fairy, fresh seafood, and a barbeque! This event is hosted by the Tignish Co-op, Tignish Fisheries Co-op, and Tignish Credit Union. 2012 ANNÉE INTERNATIONALE DES COOPÉRATIVES Rejoignez-nous pour célébrer l’Année internationale des Coopératives à Fisherman’s Haven Park le dimanche 8 juillet de 13h00 à 16h00 (en cas de pluie le 15 juillet). Il y aura de la musique, des activités pour enfants, une fée de ballon, des fruits de mer fraîche et un barbecue! Cet évènement est organisé par la Co-op de Tignish, la Co-op de Tignish Fisheries et la Caisse Populaire de Tignish. ST. FELIX GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB There will be a golf tournament on Sunday, June 24th as a fundraiser for the Tignish Health Centre. Shot gun start at 1:00 p.m. Four person best ball. Prizes and barbeque to follow. All juniors to age 15 interested in playing in the Irish Moss golf tournament on Thursday, June 28th, are asked to register by Wednesday, June 27th. There will also be a chipping and putting contest starting at 12:00 p.m. The Junior Program will begin on Wednesday, July 4th and run for eight weeks. This one hour lesson will take place every Wednesday. Call to pre-register your child from ages 6 to 14 years old. Ladies interested in having an evening of golf and fun, are asked to call in your name. We hope to start the first week of July. Men’s night every Tuesday beginning at 6:30 p.m. (note change of time). Book your tournament now for the coming months. 8th ANNUAL BENNIE BERNARD MEMORIAL 6 KM RUN/WALK The 8th Annual Bennie Bernard Memorial 6 km Run/Walk (3 km run for kids 10 and under) will be held on Sunday, June 24th, at 1:30 p.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church in Palmer Road. Registration fee is $5. Registration will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the Palmer Road Community Centre. No bikes or roller blades (strollers or wagons are permitted for kids). The Run will take place rain or shine. All proceeds from the Run will be for the Church and the Knights of Columbus. For more information, please call Randy Allain at 882-3467. PRIZE BINGO There will be a prize bingo on Sunday, June 24th, at the Tignish Legion, at 2:00 p.m. Please bring your own markers. All proceeds will go to mail bags to Fr. Roy Shea. GRAND OPENING OCEAN SIDE TAKE-OUT Join us for the Grand Opening of Ocean Side Take-Out, located at 107 Harbour Rd., Tignish Shore, on Sunday, June 24th, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (in the event of rain, the grand opening will take place at a later date). There will be free cake, balloons, and face painting for kids. Come one, come all! BENEFIT There will be a benefit in aid of Mike Rozell, the 32 year old son of Theresa (Gavin) and Leo Shea, on Sunday, June 24th, at the Tignish Legion, at 7:00 p.m. Mike is battling cancer and receiving chemo treatments in Charlottetown that requires very costly injections that are not covered under the provincial health formulary and he has no health insurance. He just graduated from a Holland College course and is unemployed. He is not well enough to work right now and needs your help so please come out and support him on this evening. There evening will include entertainment, live auction, bake table, and a draw for a handmade quilt. CREDIT UNION ARENA Hemphill GM Summerside and the Arena have entered into another partnership agreement. Hemphill GM will donate $100 to the Arena for every new or used retail vehicle that is either purchased or leased by anyone in the Arena’s service area. To date, Hemphill has donated $15,350 worth of coupons to the Arena. Hemphill GM asks their customers to bring their coupon with them to the Dealer at the time of sale. These green colored coupons can be picked up at the following locations: Tignish Community Office, Tignish Co-op Convenience Counter, Royal Star Foods Office, F.J. Shea and Son, and Deagle’s Quick Mart. TIGNISH IRISH MOSS FESTIVAL The 32 Annual Tignish Irish Moss Festival is June 25th to July 1st, 2012. Anyone interested in entering a float in this year’s “Community Spirit” parade call 882-2476. TIGNISH HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION The Tignish Home and School Association is once again offering our Summer Reading Program during the months of July and August to all students registered in the area. This program is available for a summer fee of $15. Students can work on any number of areas such as reading, math, French, etc. The student tutor will work with your child based on his/her needs. It is a great opportunity to keep up their skills during the summer months. Each week is a one hour one-on-one session. Please contact Teena Callaghan at 882-3322 to sign up. ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION BRANCH #6 Join us on Sunday, July 1st for a pancake breakfast at the Branch from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. We will be raising the flag at 10:30 a.m. Kick off the Tignish Legion’s 80th Anniversary by coming to dance the night away with “Old Doctor Young” on Saturday, July 7th, from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. (upstairs). Draws will be made throughout the evening for goodies and prizes! 50/50 TICKETS Tignish Children’s Wish Committee will be selling 50/50 tickets along the Tignish Irish Moss Parade route on Sunday, July 1st. Money raised will go to grant wishes to children who have a high risk, life threatening disease. We look forward to your support of this very worthwhile cause. ROAST BEEF DINNER Join us for a delicious roast beef dinner on Sunday, July 1st, beginning at 12:00 p.m., at the Palmer Road Community Centre. Dinner consists of roast beef with all the trimmings, tea, coffee, and dessert. Cost: Adults $10 and children $5. Proceeds will go towards the up-keep of the Hall. DÎNER AU RÔTI DE BOEUF Venez nous joindre pour un dîner délicieux au rôti de boeuf le dimanche 1 juillet débutant à 12h00 au Centre communautaire de Palmer Road. IMMACULATE CONCEPTION (BRAE) PARISH PICNIC Please reserve Sunday, July 8th for the Immaculate Conception (Brae) annual Parish Picnic. The picnic will follow an 11:30 a.m. mass in the Brae and promises to be a fun-filled day of music and entertainment. The afternoon will start with a barbeque immediately following mass, and will include music by Ceilidh Brae, as well as activities such as: bingo, games, fish pond, cake auction, and white elephant table. Games will include many old-time favorites, as a new and exciting rendition of Deal or No Deal. Come on out and enjoy a day in the Brae! MOTORCYCLE POKER RUN The Miminegash Fire Department will be holding a Motorcycle Poker Run on Sunday, July 8th. Registration will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Miminegash Fire Hall. Cost is $10 for bike and $5 for passenger. Cash prizes given out for the best poker hand! All the proceeds will be in aid of the Miminegash Fire Department to help purchase much needed equipment! TIGNISH RECREATION DEPARTMENT Anyone interested in coaching this summer is asked to contact the recreation office. On the Edge Hockey Camp will be held July 9th to July 14th. IRISH HERITAGE FESTIVAL OF P.E.I. 2012 The Irish Heritage Festival of P.E.I. (former Tignish Irish Folk Festival) will take place August 1st to August 5th this year with most activities being held at the West Prince Heritage Properties on Chaisson Road, where you can camp and stay for the entire weekend.
