The members of Le Conseil Rév. S.-É.-Perrey inc. wish to thank the community once again for its support in
our recent activities and invite you to a big event coming May 28th and 29th. 150 to 175 young Acadians from
the Island and New Brunswick will compete in order to participate in Les Jeux de l’Acadie to be held later in
Saint John, N.B. You are invited to come to Le Centre acadien, DeBlois and encourage these youths who will
compete in mini-handball, soccer and softball. Mini handball will be in the gym and the other sports at the back
of the Centre. Come out, enjoy yourselves and for outside games, please bring your own chairs. See you
there!

Les membres du Conseil Rév. S.-É.-Perrey inc remercie la communauté de nouveau pour son appui à nos
activités et désire vous inviter à la grosse activité que nous aurons les 28 et 29 mai. De 150 à 175 jeunes
acadiens de 11 à 15 ans de l’île et certains du Nouveau-Brunswick auront des compétitions afin de participer
au Jeux de l’Acadie que auront lieu a Saint-Jean, N.B. plus tard. Vous êtes invité à vous rendre au Centre
acadien à DeBlois et encourager ces jeunes dans les joutes de mini-handball, soccer et balle molle . Le minihandball sera joué dans le gymnase et les autres sports a l’arrière du Centre. V’nez vous “enjoyer” et pour
l’extérieur, s.v.p. apportez vos chaises. On s’verra là.
IWK FESTIVAL IN THE PARK
The IWK Festival in the Park will be held at the Bicentennial Park on Sunday, May 30th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Rain location will be the Credit Union Arena. Some of the activities: 50/50 draw, raffle tickets, BBQ, Cavendish
Farms Fry Cart, Tim Horton’s coffee, popcorn, candy apples, face painting, balloons, games and other
activities. Also this year, we have an inflatable train named Chuggy Choo-Choo! Horse Pull start time is 1:30
p.m. behind the Bicentennial Park. Come out and join in the fun while helping to support this worthy cause!

COMMUNITY OF TIGNISH
The Council’s Regular Monthly Meeting will be held on Monday, May 10th at 7:00 p.m. in the
Boardroom of the Municipal Building. If you have concerns or questions you have an opportunity to
voice it under Public Comment or maybe you may just want to see how your Municipal Government
operates.
The Women’s Institute of PEI is hosting the Ditch and Roadside Clean-up on Saturday, May 15th.
Come out and clean up your Community on that day! Bags can be picked-up at Access PEI. All bags
can be left on the side of the road (securely tied) for pick-up on Monday, May 17th.
The Community is pleased to announce the launch of its new updated Website. Check us out at
www.tignish.com. Local organizations are invited to promote their main events, ie. annual meetings
or special days on the events calendar page of our website. Drop off your notice or e-mail Karen at
the Community Office.
SPAGHETTI SUPPER
The Miminegash Firemenettes will be having a spaghetti supper at the Miminegash Fire Hall on Sunday, May
16th at 5:00 p.m. Cost per person will be $10.00. Tickets can be purchased at F.J. Shea & Son, Deagles
Groceries and from any of the Firemenettes. All proceeds will go towards the Firemen Equipment Fund.

NUTRITIONAL SESSION FOR SENIORS
A session for seniors will be given at Le Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest, DeBlois on Wednesday, May 19th
from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Becky McPhee, nutritionist, will provide information on nutrition and on cooking for
one person. The session will be in french, but we will accomodate non-french speaking seniors. For more
information, please call 882-2893.
SESSION SUR LA NUTRITION
Une session pour les personnes du bel âge sera donnée au Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest à DeBlois, le 19
mai de 13 à 15h00. Becky McPhee, nutritioniste, donnera de l’information sur la nutrition et comment préparer
de la nourriture pour une personne. La session se déroulera en français, mais nous accomoderont toute
personne qui ne parle pas le français. Pour information 882-2893.
PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS
Ella Hutt is an Island-raised photographer with a passion for her art. She is offering a series of free workshops
on photography for beginners at libraries throughout West Prince. Come and discover: how to select a digital
camera, how to use a digital camera, how to save and transfer photos and videos to computer, how to use the
camera for different events. * Tyne Valley Public Library - Sunday, May 16th at 2:00 p.m. * Tignish Public
Library - Sunday, May 30th at 2:00 p.m. Each session will feature different instructions and all sessions are
FREE. Please contact your local library for info.

TIGNISH HEALTH CENTRE
The Annual Meeting for the Tignish Health Centre will be held on Wednesday, May 12th at 7:00 p.m.
at the Health Centre. Everyone is welcome.
Dr. Sethi will be away from his office on Friday, May 21st until Tuesday, June 1st. He will have regular
office hours on Wednesday, June 2nd.
Anyone interested in being a volunteer in our Bargain Basement please call 882-2260. The Bargain
Basement hours are from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.
There will be a PAP Clinic on Wednesday, June 9th at the Tignish Health Centre sponsored by the
Cornwall PAP Clinic. To book an appointment, please call 1-866-818-7277 (toll free).

ST. LOUIS COMMUNITY HAPPENINGS
The St. Louis Community Centre will be hosting Acoustic Jams for the month of May on Thursday, May 13th,
20th and 27th at 8:00 p.m. Door prize, light snack, coffee and tea. Admission $3.00. Bring your instruments

The 21 Senior’s Expo will be held at the Mill River Rodd Resort on Tuesday, June 1st from 12:00 noon to

TIGNISH EMPLOYMENT RESOURCE CENTRE
The Tignish Employment Resource Centre will be open Tuesday evenings to assist Students/Youths with
resumes and job searching. Hours will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for May and June. If you are a high
school or university student and you require assistance with creating resumes, cover letters, job application
forms or job searching, please give us a call at 882-2498 and book an appointment. We will also post all
student jobs on our Job Board to view along with providing information sessions.
“55 ANS AU VOLANT” - “55 ALIVE” à DEBLOIS
Vous voulez vous sentir plus en sécurité lorsque vous conduisez votre auto? Vous désirez avoir plus de

KIDSWEST HAPPENINGS FOR THE MONTH OF MAY
Playgroup Themes: May 11 - 14 - “Healthy Children”.
Comfort, Play and Teach (Toddler Group): This groups meets every Wednesday from 10:00 to 12:00 at
the Alberton Center. May 12 - “Colours of the Rainbow”.
Baby Connections: The group meets weekly on Tuesdays in Alberton and Thursdays in Tyne Valley both
starting at 1:30 to 2:30. Baby Connections Alberton: May 11 - “Staying Positive”. Baby Connections Tyne
Valley: May 13 - “Creative Creations”.

Take Off Pounds Sensibly is a non-profit organization to help you lose weight. Whether you have 10lbs. or
100lbs to lose, come learn how to lose weight sensibly and have fun doing it! We meet every Tuesday, with
weigh-in from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. and meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Tignish Medical Center. Enter through the
back entrance. Cost is $30.00 per year to join and $2.00 weekly.
