SOUPER À LA MORUE SALÉE
Le Club des coeurs joyeux invite la communauté à un souper à la morue salée le vendredi 21 mai au Centre
acadien de Prince-Ouest à DeBlois de 16h30 à 18h30. Billets (6$ pour membres et 10$ pour non-membres)
disponibles à la porte ou en contactant le président au 882-2893 ou le Centre 882-0475. Tout le monde est
bienvenue.
SALT FISH SUPPER
Le Club des coeurs joyeux welcomes the Community to a Salt Fish Supper on Friday, May 21st from 4:30 to
6:30 p.m. at le Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest in DeBlois. Tickets are available ($6.00 for members and
$10.00 for non-members) at the door or by calling the Club president at 882-2893 or le Centre at 882-0475.

IWK FESTIVAL IN THE PARK
h The IWK Festival in the Park will be held at the Bicentennial Park on Sunday, May 30th from 1:00 to
4:00 p.m. Rain location will be the Credit Union Arena. Some of the activities: live music, 50/50 draw, raffle
tickets, quilt tickets, BBQ, Cavendish Farms Fry Cart, Tim Horton’s coffee, popcorn, candy apples, face
painting, balloons, games and more. Also this year, we have an inflatable train named Chuggy Choo-Choo!
Horse Pull start time is 1:30 p.m. behind the Bicentennial Park. Come out and join in the fun while helping to
support this worthy cause!
h IWK Festival in the Park Fundraiser: 1st prize - 1 night stay at Quality Inn on the Hill (Holland Grove
House (value $375); 2nd prize - a print from Antrim Sisters (value $180); 3rd prize - PEI Products Gift Basket
from Royal Star (value $50). Tickets are on sale at Royal Star and Antrim Sisters. Draw date May 30th at the
Festival in the Park. Thank you for your support!
SPAGHETTI SUPPER
The Miminegash Firemenettes will be having a spaghetti supper at the Miminegash Fire Hall on Sunday, May
16th at 5:00 p.m. Cost per person will be $10.00. Tickets can be purchased at F.J. Shea & Son, Deagles
Groceries or from any of the Firemenettes. All proceeds will go towards the Firemen Equipment Fund. Thank

COMMUNITY OF TIGNISH
A Public Meeting is called for Tuesday, May 25th at 7:00 p.m. to the Rezone PID No. 460153 located
on Route 2, Phillip Street from Agriculture to Commercial to permit the site location for the new highway
Equipment Body and Paint Shop.
A Tender call for the following item: a coated chain-link fence of about 450 feet. If interested, submit
your tender in a sealed envelope to the attention of Karen Gaudet Gavin, P.O. Box 57, Tignish, PE on
or before 12:00 noon, Friday, May 21st. A site visit can be made available by calling the Office during
work hours.
Community’s Bicentennial Park Clean-up: We invite you out to help us clean the Bicentennial Park on
Monday, May 17th at 1:00 p.m. BBQ to follow. So bring your rakes and we will bring the garbage
bags for a fun few hours of cleaning the Park!
There is a position in the recreation field for eight weeks under the Canada Summer Jobs. If you are
a student who recently graduated or are in post secondary school, submit your resume to Karen at the
Community Office, 209 Phillip Street.
SESSION SUR LA NUTRITION
Une session pour les personnes du bel âge sera donnée au Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest à DeBlois, le 19 mai de 13
à 15h00. Becky McPhee, nutritioniste, donnera de l’information sur la nutrition et comment préparer de la nourriture pour
une personne. La session se déroulera en français, mais nous accomoderont toute personne qui ne parle pas le français.

NUTRITIONAL SESSION FOR SENIORS
A session for seniors will be given at Le Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest, DeBlois on Wednesday, May 19th from 1:00
to 3:00 p.m. Becky McPhee, nutritionist, will provide information on nutrition and on cooking for one person. The session
will be in french, but we will accomodate non-french speaking seniors. For more information, please call 882-2893.
ST. FELIX GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
Our early season rates are in effect until June 4th. Memberships and golf packages are available for purchase
for juniors, seniors, adults, students and couples. Now available for 7 to 9 years with playing restrictions. Please
call 882-2328 for more details.
The GBS Program for children from 6 to 15 years will be offered again this year and will run from July 7th to
August 25th. This 8-week program (1 hour each week) is to teach the basic skills, rules and etiquette of golf, while
at the same time making it fun for them. You can pre-register your child at anytime by calling 882-2328.
Any organization, business or family group thinking of having a tournament should call to book your date. The first
tournament is tentatively booked for June 13th. More information to follow.

À LA RECHERCHE DES BÉNÉVOLES
Nous sommes à la recherche pour des bénévoles pour nous aider pour la compétition des jeux régionaux en préparation
pour les Jeux de l’Acadie qui aura lieu la fin de semaine du 28 et 29 mai. Veuillez noter que ceci sera une première pour
le Centre acadien de Prince-Quest. Ensemble nous pouvons assurer un succès complet pour cet événement. Si vous

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS...
We are looking for volunteers to help with the regional games of les Jeux de l’Acadie that will be held at le Centre acadien
de Prince-Ouest for the first time in history on May 28th and 29th. If you are available to volunteer a few hours of your time
(security or kitchen help) to make this event a complete success, contact Monique at 882-0475, ext. 146.
PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS
Ella Hutt is an Island-raised photographer with a passion for her art. She is offering a series of free workshops on
photography for beginners at libraries throughout West Prince. Come and discover: how to select a digital camera, how
to use a digital camera, how to save and transfer photos and videos to computer, how to use the camera for different
events. * Tyne Valley Public Library - Sunday, May 16th at 2:00 p.m. * Tignish Public Library - Sunday, May 30th at 2:00
p.m. Each session will feature different instructions and all sessions are FREE. Please contact your local library for info.
TIGNISH HEALTH CENTRE
Dr. Sethi will be away from his office on Friday, May 21st until Tuesday, June 1st. He will have regular office
hours on Wednesday, June 2nd.
Shotgun Golf Tournament in aid of the Tignish Health Centre to be held on Sunday, June 13th at the St. Felix
Golf & Country Club. Groups of four or single registration can be done before or on the day of the tournament.

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT WITH THE COMMUNITY OF TIGNISH SHORE
Vistor’s Guide/Researcher: Post-secondary student will be responsible for greeting visitors at the lighthouse located at
Fishermen’s Haven Park, giving historical details about the area and operating a small gift shop. In addition, the student
will be asked to do some historical research of the area for future displays and help in planning and implementing the
annual celebration in the park. A knowledge of Tignish Shore and its history is a definite asset. Must be reliable, friendly
and outgoing and able to work with minimum supervision. Use of a vehicle and the ability to speak french are also assets.

ST. LOUIS COMMUNITY HAPPENINGS
The St. Louis Community Centre will be hosting Acoustic Jams for the month of May on Thursday, May 20th and 27th at
8:00 p.m. Door prize, light snack, coffee and tea. Admission $3.00. Bring your instruments and friends and have fun!
21st SENIOR’S EXPO
The 21 Senior’s Expo will be held at the Mill River Rodd Resort on Tuesday, June 1st from 12:00 noon to 7:30 p.m.

a fundraiser for the Habitat for Humanity Trip.

BENEFIT for JACKSON GALLANT
There will be a Benefit for Jackson Gallant, son of Chad & Olive Gallant, who is 2 years old and has to have open heart
surgery. The Benefit will be held on Friday, May 28th at 7:30 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Hall in Bloomfield. There will be
entertainment by the Helping Hands Band along with local entertainment, auction and fudge sale.
