TIGNISH HEALTH CENTRE Walk-A-Thon: The Annual Tignish Health Centre Walk-A-Thon will be held on Thursday, July 1st. There will be lots of prizes to give away and LOBSTERS! Pledge sheets can be picked-up at the Tignish Health Centre, Tignish Elementary, St. Louis Elementary, École Pierre-Chiasson, Shirley’s Café and M.J.’s Bakery. There will also be a yard sale, Bargain Basement will be open, face painting, bake sale, etc. being held in the parking lot of the Health Centre. Motorcycle Run: There will be a motocycle run on Thursday, July 1st (Canada Day) in aid of the Tignish Health Centre. It will be starting at 1:00 p.m. from the Tignish Fire Hall. Registration time starting at 12:30 p.m. fee is $15.00 per bike, $25.00 with extra passenger. Meal and prizes to follow the run. Please come out and support this great cause! 400th YEAR MI’KMAQ COMMEMORATION The West Prince Heritage Complex Association Inc. in collaboration with the Lennox Island and Abeqweit Mi’kmaq First Nations is hosting the 400th anniversary of the June 24th, 1610 christening of Grand Chief Membertou; Highlights: Keynote speaker Chief Darlene Bernard, unveiling of a trilingual plaque, raising of Mi’kmaq flag and appropriate anthems, smudging ceremony, etc. Place: on the Chiasson Road in Tignish on Thursday, June 24th at 2:00 p.m. The public is cordially invited to attend and to take their cameras and parasols. COMMÉMORATION MI’KMAQ 400 ANS L’Association du Complexe patrimonial de Prince-Ouest inc. en collaboration avec les Premières nations Mi’kmaq de l’Île Lennox et Abeqweit sera l’hôte du 400e anniversaire du baptême le 24 juin 1610 du Grand Chef Membertou. Grand moments: discours de la Chef Darlene Bernard, dévoilement de plaque trilingue, lever du drapeau mi’kmaq et hymnes de circonstances, cérémonie du foin d’odeur, etc. Lieu: sur le chemin Chiasson à Tignish, le jeudi 24 juin, à 14h00. Do not forget to purchase your Viva Las Tignish Tickets! “THE GOOD SISTER” The Acadian theatre, “V’nez Chou Nous 2010”, 21st edition will return this year at le Centre acadien de PrinceOuest, DeBlois with a comedy written and directed by Raymond J. Arsenault and music director Léona Perry. The dates for this year’s performance are Thursdays, July 15th, 22nd and 29th and August 5th, 12th and 26th. Put a Cottage in your Future and Help a Child Now. 6TH ANNUAL BENNIE BERNARD MEMORIAL 6KM RUN/WALK The 6 Annual Bennie Bernard Memorial 6km Run/Walk (3 km Run for kids 10 and under) will be held on Sunday, June 27th at 1:30 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Palmer Road. Registration fee is $5.00 and proceeds for the Church. Registration will be before the 11:00 a.m. mass and before the Run. No bikes or roller blades. Strollers or wagons are permitted for kids. The Run will take place rain or shine. For more information, call Randy at 882-3467. th TIGNISH IRISH FOLK FESTIVAL The 2010 Tignish Irish Folk Festival will take place beginning Friday, July 30th to Sunday, August 1st. There will be lots of music and fun for all with a Ceilidh on Friday evening, a golf tournament and pub on Saturday, and an Irish breakfast and outdoor family concert on Sunday. The winning ticket will be announced the evening of the crowning of Miss Irish Moss. Should the money not be claimed that evening, the ticket number will be published in the Community Bulletin the following weekend as well as in the West Prince Graphic. 50% of the money raised will go to the Children’s Wish.
