All baptized people are called to be leaders in expanding Christ’s Kingdom. This is our common vocation as disciples. How are you responding to this call? Christ was a shepherd, a steward, and a servant leader. As good stewards of our vocations, we also are called to lead others to Christ in the same way; by using our gifts responsibly; by sharing them generously and by humbly serving one another. Stewardship Office, The Archdiocese of Winnipeg, Reconciliation Saturday 11:30 to 12 noon or by appointment. Marriage At least one party must be a registered member of the parish. Christ the King Le Christ, Roi de l’univers November 24, 2013 Welcome: We welcome Father Francis Jeyaseelen who shares the Word of God and the Eucharist with us this weekend as Father Bob is away on the COR weekend. Bienvenue: Nous souhaitons la bienvenue au Père Francis Jeyaseelen qui célèbre l’Eucharistie avec nous cette fin de semaine pendant l’absence du curé. The Readings: Next Sunday’s readings are: Isaiah 2:1-5 Romans 13:11-14 Matthew 24:37-44 Les lectures: Les lectures pour dimanche prochain sont: Isaïe 2, 1-5 Romains 13, 11-14 Matthieu 24, 37-44 Christ the King: Jesus Christ is King. Even though the inscription over the head of Jesus on the cross proclaimed that He was King of the Jews, it is doubtful that the soldiers there actually had the faith to recognize the truth of this sign. Today, we, the people of God, the Church, do recognize it. We celebrate the Solemnity of our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. Giving Tree ~ On behalf of the Roman Catholic Children’s Aid Society for the County of Essex, we are once again appealing to the generosity of our parishioners for your support in helping them to ensure that every child, supervised by their agency, will have gifts to open on Christmas morning. Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ and at this time it is our hope that each and every child and their parents can experience love and joy in receiving a gift. We encourage everyone to participate in any way possible. Please follow these easy directions: ~ The list of items needed by each family has been divided into individual gift ideas. Check the paper ornaments on the ‘giving tree’ in the narthex. On the back of the ornament is the name of an article or gift that is needed by a child or adult in one of these families. Please choose from these, an item that you could buy (new items only please.) ~ Take the ornament home with you so you can remember what it is you are to buy and to make sure no one else buys the same thing. ~ After you have bought the article, do not wrap the gift but please attach the paper ornament securely to the gift and place it under the giving tree by December 15th. Please note, the agency will NOT accept wrapped gifts, but you can provide wrapping paper if you wish and the parents will wrap the gifts for their children.
