Marriage
The wise men in today’s Gospel were seeking to
pay homage to a king whose coming had been
foretold. They honoured our Lord with their gifts of
gold, frankincense, and myrrh. We too can honour
Christ by the way we steward the gifts of our lives,
our possessions, and our faith. These gifts are
provided, not only for our own benefit, but also for
the good of others through sharing, especially with
the poor and the marginalized. When we give
generously we pay homage to the King of Kings.
Stewardship Office, The Archdiocese of Winnipeg,
At least one party must be a registered
member of the parish.
Minimum 6 months notification.
Mandatory marriage preparation course.

The Epiphany of the Lord
Épiphanie du Seigneur
January 5, 2014
The Epiphany of
the Lord: Today we
Réunions…
celebrate God making
himself known to the whole
world in human form. In
many parishes today, a
familiar hymn will echo the
words telling of the star of wonder leading to the perfect
light. We follow that light to the place of Jesus’ birth to
bring the gift of ourselves by our willingness to follow Him
and His teachings. We continue to show the gift of Jesus’
humanity to the world.

Home for Mothers:
Thanks to all of you for the
great response to our request to furnish the newly built home
that will serve area women who are in crisis due to
unplanned pregnancy. In total over 130 tags were taken last
weekend. We really appreciate your support! Once you
have purchased your 'tag' item please be sure to bring it
unwrapped (with the tag attached) either to the 'Special
Shower Event’ planned for the CWL General Meeting
January 20th at 7:00 pm or place it in the specially marked
box in the Church foyer by January 19th. Once again thank
you for your generosity to this very worthwhile cause.
We have been a part of this parish
community for 20 years and have been
truly blessed by the outpouring of love
and support we received December
13th at the benefit dinner given in my
honour.
Special thanks to Rick and Gloria Mailloux for organizing
this event and to all the people who dedicated their time and
effort to make it such a success.

Knights of Columbus News
•
Thank you to all the members who have sent in their
dues for 2014. If you have not paid your dues, please
do so A.S.A.P. Thanks also for including your e-mail
address. Since the price of mailing all members would
exceed $200.00 each time, it will be better and more
cost efficient to communicate through e-mail.
•
A notice of motion was put forward at our last executive
and general meetings in December and a vote will take
place on January 21st at the general meeting. This
notice of motion will allow the Knights of Columbus
Council 8783 to purchase 40 rectangular tables to
replace the old wood rectangular tables. The intent of
the motion is that the Knights could spend up to, but not
exceed $5,000.00. Your opinion and input at this
meeting is valuable. Please plan on attending.
•
The Knights of Columbus will sponsor a Valentine's
Day Dinner and Dance on Friday, February 14th. The
cost is $12.50 per person or $25.00 per couple. Doors
will open at 5:30 pm with dinner served at 7:00
pm. Tickets will be sold after all masses. EVERYONE
is welcome to attend.
An enjoyable evening is
promised.
Entertainment will be provided by
Heartbeat. A portion of the proceeds will go towards
the purchase of the tables.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support us, and to
those who did not attend but sent a donation. We have seen
the Lord in all of you. God Bless.
Love, the Ruskin family
A simple idea to help a friend in need exploded into a
community event.
We are overwhelmed with the out-pouring of support for
our friend Jeff Ruskin. As you know, we held a Pasta
Dinner for him. With the help of so many volunteers,
this event was a huge success!
Our hearts are filled with an incredible sense of joy and
we would like to extend sincere thanks to Visitation
Parish for allowing us to hold this event in the Hall. To
the Knights of Columbus for their support, sponsorship
and providing the Bar/Bartender. Very special thanks to
Mike Gagnier of Countryside Canners who donated all
the pasta sauce and noodles. Thank you to Little Sweets
Bakery for providing all the dinner rolls. Tim Hortons/
Comber for donating the Coffee and Tim Bits, your
support in the community is always appreciated. Thank
you to the young boys and girls of the Squires and the
Squirettes for clearing the tables. Thank you to those
who provided door prizes and to the countless number of
people who worked in the kitchen preparing, serving and
cleaning up, we could not have done this without you!
Thank you to every single person and organization that so
generously donated.
An incredible 450 people attended the dinner….God
bless you!!!
Thank you for your donations and for
showing your support to Jeff and his family. To date, we
have received more then $9,000 in donations.
God bless and thank you from the bottom of our
hearts…..
