COMMEMORATION - DEPORTATION 1758
A DRAMA PRESENTATION on the tragedy of the 1758 Island Acadian Deportation, with about 40 actors directed by
Eileen Chiasson-Pendergast, will be presented at Westisle Composite High, Elmsdale. In FRENCH : Sunday, October
26th at 7 :00 p.m. and in ENGLISH : Sunday, November 2nd at 7 :00 p.m. Admission: Adult: $6, Couple: $10, Youth
(13-17): $2, Child (0-12): free.
DÉPORTATION 1758 - COMMÉMORATION
Une PIÈCE DE THÉÂTRE sur la tragédie de la déportation des Acadiens de l’Île en 1758 avec une quarantaine
d’acteurs dirigée par Eileen Chiasson-Pendergast, sera présenté à Westisle Composite High, Elmsdale. En FRANÇAIS:

OKTOBERFEST
Fun for everyone! The 5th Annual OKTOBERFEST sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary at the Tignish Legion
on Saturday, October 25th at 9:00 a.m. Bake sale, quilt show, farmers’ market, yard sale (inside $10 each
table, call Anne Marie at 882-2228), outside activities under big tent, pet parade, pumpkin carving (bring your
own tools), Oktoberfest sausage, hotdogs, pop and more.
BLUEGRASS/OLD TIME MUSIC JAMBOREE
Come and celebrate Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 25th at 8:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion,
in Tignish with many guest artists,50/50 and card draws. This event is held to raise funds for the Red Clay
Bluegrass Festival (August 14-16, 2009).

TIGNISH PUBLIC LIBRARY
October is Library Month across P.E.I. Each library offers different activities for this event. This
is a great time to visit your local library to borrow books, CDs, movies, use a computer or just browse
around. There is always a sale on used books for $2.00 per bag.
On Friday, October 24th at 6:00 p.m. there will be a Halloween Party for children ages 5 to 9 years.
A fun time to make a craft and listen to a scary story.
TIGNISH MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION
The Tignish Minor Hockey Association will be having its Annual Meeting on Sunday, October 19th at the Credit Union
Arena at 7:00 p.m. Door prizes awarded. All are welcome to attend.
HEURES D’OUVERTURE DU CENTRE DE RECHERCHE
ACADIEN DE L’Î.-P.-É. ET FORMATION EN GÉNÉALOGIE
Le Centre, situé au Musée acadien de l’Î.-P.-É. à Miscouche, sera ouvert les mardis, jeudis et vendredis de 9h30 à
17h00, et les mercredis de 13h00 à 20h30 de septembre à juin. Veuillez noter que le Centre sera fermé les 4, 5, 6
et 7 novembre, ainsi que pendant tout le mois de décembre afin de réaménager le section des archives. Une formation
d’intitiation aux ressources en généalogie sera donnée le 22 octobre à 19h00 pour tous les intéressés. Pour plus de

TIGNISH HEALTH CENTER
The Flu Vaccine has arrived at Dr. Sethi’s office. Anyone who received their flu vaccine from Dr. Sethi in the
previous years and want to make an appointment can do so by calling 882-2260.
For the month of October, the bargain basement will be having a $3.00 per bag sale. Halloween is coming soon,
so check out what we have for great costumes at a great price!
The 1st place Team for the 1st Annual Tignish Health Centre Golf Tournament, which was held on October 12th
at the St. Felix Golf Course, were the following: Leo Gaudet, Jimmy Morrissey, Blaine Drummond and Riley
Shea. Winners for closest to the hole were Rhonda MacNeill and Micky Fraser and the longest drive winners
were Rhonda MacNeill and Karter Hackett. The winner of the 50/50 was Micky Fraser who donated his share
($71.50) back to the Health Centre. The total raised was $458.00. Thank you to Joanne & Claude Gaudette
for their help on a great day!

The Tignish Seniors’ Home will be hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Night on Friday, November 7th beginning at 8:00
p.m. at the Tignish Legion for all those who have volunteered (plus their spouses) at the Home over the past year.

Adult Skate: There will be an adult skate on Wednesday, October 22nd at 1:00 p.m. at the Tignish Credit Union Arena.
4-on-4: There will be a 4-on-4 hockey tournament on Friday, October 24th for all Atom and PeeWee aged hockey

A meeting for the Friends of the Heritage Inn will be held at the Inn on Sunday, October 26th at 7:00 p.m.

CHOIR WORKSHOP
