TIGNISH MINOR HOCKEY
There will be an URGENT meeting on Monday, January 25th at 6:30 p.m. at the Credit Union Arena,
Tignish,to discuss the issue of body checking in the “A” levels of hockey and whether or not it should be
removed. All interested parents and players are asked to attend to discuss this matter.
PARTY PYJAMA
Invitation à toutes les familles à un party pyjama (pour les tout petits jusqu’à la 4e année) le mercredi 27
janvier de 18h30 à 20h30 au Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest à DeBlois. Venez chanter, danser et lire des
histoires en famille avec votre toutou préféré. Il y aura un petit goûter et des prix de présences. Cette activité
gratuite se déroulera en français et fait partie d’une grande célébration à travers la province pour célébrer la

PYJAMA PARTY
Families are invited to a Pyjama Party (for little ones to grade 4) on Wednesday, January 27th from 6:30 to
8:30 p.m. at the Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest in DeBlois. Come sing, dance and read stories as a family.
Bring along your favorite stuffed animal! There will be snacks and prizes. This free activity will be held in
French and is part of celebrations across the Province for Family Literacy Day. Call (902) 882-0475 for more

BOWL FOR KIDS SAKE TEAMS WANTED!
Big Brothers, Big Sisters of P.E.I. is recruiting teams for our major fundraiser, “Bowl for Kids Sake”, to be held
on March 6th and 7th at eight locations across the Island including Tignish and Alberton. Be an everyday
superhero and form a team with 4 or 5 of your co-workers, friends or family. As a thank you for your
fundraising efforts, we will be providing 75 minutes of free bowling, Subway subs, Pepsi products, fun new
prizes and more! This year the theme is superheroes, so wear your favourite cape! Remember, a change

MIMINEGASH FIREMENETTES
The Miminegash Firemenettes will be hosting a “Soup-a-Thon” (all you can eat soup, fresh rolls and dessert)
on Sunday, January 24th at 5:00 p.m. at the Miminegash Firehall. Tickets can be purchased from any of the
Firemenettes or at F.J. Shea and Son. All proceeds will go to the Firemen Equipment Fund. Cost $10.00 per
person.

MONEY FOR HAITI
Conseil Rév.-S.-E.-Perrey inc. has prepared a lottery on a Valentine basket valued at $100. Tickets (available
at the Centre in DeBlois and in the Co-op “link” on January 29th) are $2.00 each and 3 for $5.00. All monies
will be sent to the Red Cross for Haiti. Thank you for your generosity.
ST. LOUIS COMMUNITY CENTRE HAPPENINGS
The St. Louis Community Centre will be hosting a Jamboree on Thursday, January 28th at 8:00 p.m. featuring
Gerald MacNally & Friends. Open Mic! Door prize, light lunch, coffee and tea.

A FRIENDLY GROUP
A Friendly Group invites you to come and celebrate our 43rd Al-Anon Anniversary with us on Thursday,
January 28th at 7;30 p.m. at the Tignish Medical Centre (upstairs), Phillip Street, Tignish. Al-Anon and A.A.
speakers, lunch and fellowship to follow. Storm date: February 4th at 7:30 p.m. If the weather does not permit
on these dates, meeting will follow on February 11th.

KIDSWEST - JANUARY INFORMATION
Playgroup: If you are a parent or caregiver of a child between the ages of 0 and 6 years, you may be
interested in joining us for a playgroup. We meet every week for two hours and we have crafts, songs, stories,
games and many more activities. Please call for more details. Playgroup Themes:
January 26th - 29th - We Love to Read; January 27th is National Literacy Day - talking, singing and spending
time telling stories together are great family literacy activities.
New Program: Comfort, Play and Teach: This new group is a positive approach to parenting that supports
healthy child development. This is a program for parents and their children ages 0 to 3 years. The program
is aimed to generate responses that transform children’s everyday interactions into a playful, educational
environment. This groups meets every Wednesday at 10:00 to 12:00 at the Alberton Center.
January 27th - Language and Literacy.
Baby Connections: This is a group that offers an opportunity to build knowledge and friendship, for both
expecting mothers and new mothers of babies up to 12 months of age. The group meets weekly on Tuesdays
in Alberton and Thursdays in Tyne Valley both starting at 1:30 to 2:30. Baby Connections January 26th Ask a Pharmacist. Baby Connections Tyne Valley: January 21st - STARSS Program; January 28th - Moms
and the Movies.
