Dalhousie University: Resident’s News
Ashley Sutherland, MD, PGY2
Hello from the Dalhousie Dermatology Program!
We have had a great start to the new academic year, with lots of exciting events so far. First of all,
we would like to congratulate Dr. Ariel Burns for successfully completing her Royal College Exam!
She has started practicing in a Dartmouth clinic with Dr. Mary Lou Baxter, Dr. Chris Gallant and Dr.
Teca Torok. We look forward to working with Dr. Burns as one of our new staff dermatologists.
Also, we welcome Dr. Noelle Wong, our new PGY1, who completed medical school at the
University of Calgary. She started her year on service in the dermatology clinic and we are so happy
she has joined our team!
In early September, the Dalhousie Division of Dermatology welcomed Dr. Robert Gniadecki from
Copenhagen, Denmark, who gave our annual Dr. J.B. Ross Lectureship as part of the Department
of Internal Medicine Grand Rounds. His talk was titled “Challenges in cutaneous lymphoma” and
was very well received by the Internal Medicine group. We would like to thank Dr. Gniadecki for
taking the time to speak in Halifax and for giving the Dermatology residents an extra teaching
session while he was here.
In October, Dr. Natalie Cunningham (PGY4) and Dr. Noelle Wong (PGY1) attended the Dalhousie
Medicine Career night. They had a booth set up with fun games and prizes, and spent the night
speaking to the undergrad medical students about how awesome dermatology residency is!
Over the next few months we’re very much looking forward to preparing for the next CaRMS
match, as well as planning for our annual holiday party. We hope you all have a wonderful fall and
look forward to seeing our fellow residents again at meetings in the new year.
