University of Toronto: Residents’ News
Brittany Waller, MD, PGY 3, Tiffany Waszczylo, MD, PGY 2, and
Daniel Wong, MD, PGY1 1
Greetings from the University of Toronto Dermatology Program,
We would like to extend our best wishes to the current PGY5s as they prepare for their Royal
College examinations. In addition, we would like to welcome the seven residents who will be
joining our program in July: Drs. Michal Bohdanowicz, Dianne Burrows, Annie Liu, Claudia Posso
De Los Rios, Thanashan Rajakulendran, Matthew Sandre and Juthika Thakur.
We would also like to congratulate Dr. Scott Walsh on behalf of our program on his recent
Department of Medicine award. Each year, the Department of Medicine at the University of
Toronto recognizes educators who are in the top 10% based on clinical teaching evaluations. Dr.
Walsh has received this prestigious honour again this year. Congratulations and thank you for
everything you do for our program!
In addition, we are thrilled to announce that our large dermatology family has continued to grow
over the past year. Special congratulations go to Drs. Carrie Lynde (Fellow), Dusan Sajic (PGY5),
Alexis Botkin (PGY5), Fiona Lovegrove (PGY4), Michael Stevens (PGY3) and Tiffany Parsons (PGY2)
and their respective spouses as each welcomed a new addition to their family. As well, warm
congratulations to Dr. Anna Burkett (PGY4) on her recent marriage, and best wishes to Drs. Jane
Wu (PGY4), Andrea Lam (PGY3), Rachel Vale (PGY3), Jill Greenspoon (PGY2) and Anjali Papneja
(PGY1) as they prepare for their upcoming weddings. What exciting times lie ahead!
As you know, the American Academy of Dermatology annual meeting was held recently in sunny
San Francisco, and many of our residents attended. It was a wonderful conference, offering an
exceptional educational component while providing a beautiful venue to network and connect
with colleagues from across the continent. We are already looking forward to next year’s
conference in Washington, D.C.
With all that has already happened during this academic year, we still have several more upcoming
events to look forward to. We cannot wait for the annual Resident Research Day, as well as
graduation on June 26. We also eagerly await the 23rd World Congress of Dermatology meeting,
which will be held in Vancouver this summer. We hope to see you there!
With interesting research endeavours, ongoing clinical duties and international elective pursuits,
this time of year proves to be busy and exciting for all of the dermatology residents at the
University of Toronto.
A big thank you to the attending staff, residents and support personnel who strive to make this
program one to be proud of. We wish you a wonderful year and continued success.
