« FULL MOON VALLEE BLANCHE »
Full Moon Vallée Blanche is a unique concept in a magical setting: to descend the Vallée Blanche during the full
moon framed by a high mountain guide with a break for dinner at the Requin refuge at nearly 3000m of altitude!!
23 kilometers of off-piste skiing on the glacier to reach Chamonix to Les Planards, via the Mottets hut.
The best of this outing: The possibility of a ski touring in the direction of the Entrèves pass before descending the
entire Vallée Blanche.
Requin hut
Itinerary
The Vallée Blanche is a ski descent, in the heart of the Mont-Blanc massif, unique by its variety of landscapes and
its length (about 20 kilometers and 2000m of height difference). The beginning of the descent is done by foot on a
rope equipped snow ridge where you will also be roped by your guide.
Being on a mountain with high altitude, it is an off-piste course, placed on a glacier. The descent routes are
numerous and varied, and their choice depends on the state of the glacier, the snow and the technical level of the
participants.
At the end of the Mer de Glace, about 20 minutes of walking with skis on the back will be necessary to reach either
the Montenvers train or the Mottets bar before reaching Chamonix.
Details
TECHNICAL LEVEL OF THE PARTICIPANTS
It is necessary to be in good condition to reach the passes and huts. Skiers must be able to control their speed, to
side-slip, ski at a safe speed and follow tracks. It requires at least black slope skiing ability (single black diamond).
Beware, this is an off-piste route and the difficult technique can be increased by night visibility and depending on
the snow conditions.
Message for snowboarders :
The classic way down Vallée Blanche is not very steep, and therefore not recommended to snowboarders (long flat
sections). There are yet several steeper options, such as Petit and Grand Envers du Plan. To enjoy a safe run down,
snowboarders should be skilled to ride off piste black diamond runs, involving steep and changing snow quality.
We more that strongly recommend the use of a telescopic single pole for help on the long flat glacier section of Mer
de Glace.
GUIDING POLICY
Vallée Blanche is an off-piste and ungroomed ski run on glaciers, where caution is necessary.
Taking a qualified moutain guide is then the best way to fully enjoy the activity.
From his experience and local knowledge, he will know how to choose the appropriate route enabling you to enjoy
this magnificiant scenery in total security.
The maximum number of persons per guide is 6, this number can change depending on the snow conditions.
