Denes Rothschild is a partner in the Toronto office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. Denes practises competition, marketing and foreign investment law. Denes' practice
includes advice on proposed mergers, competition compliance and criminal cartel
matters. He also litigates class action claims against clients relating to alleged collusion,
and advises on foreign investment review, advertising and marketing law. Denes
recently advised on all competition aspects of the largest retail merger in Canadian
history, the acquisition of Shoppers Drug Mart by Loblaw, and is acting on one of the
only two active abuse of dominance cases before the Competition Tribunal.

Making use of his dual Canadian and American law degrees, Denes regularly
collaborates with attorneys in other jurisdictions to ensure consistent and outstanding
representation for his large multinational clients.
Prior to joining BLG, Denes articled and practised with a national firm's Ottawa office,
specializing in commercial litigation, international trade and investment law. Denes
recently spent a year seconded as corporate counsel to one of the world's largest
information technology corporations.

claim before the Competition Tribunal.

Acted for Hardline Curling Inc. in its battle to have a ban on its curling brooms
imposed by the World Curling Federation and Curling Canada overturned.

Acted for Loblaw Companies Limited on all competition matters related to its
acquisition of Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation, the largest retail merger in
Canadian history.

