Grant focuses his practice on litigation and dispute resolution with an emphasis on construction, insurance, surety, warranty, creditors’ remedies, banking and fraud loss recovery. He has developed particular expertise in dealing with public/private infrastructure claims, defective work and deficiency claims and related insurance matters, delay and productivity claims, building warranty claims, debt recovery, indemnity enforcement, and defence of claims against financial institutions and claims arising from mortgage fraud loss and bills of exchange. Acted for design builders in both pursuing and responding to significant multimillion-dollar claims arising from various public/private infrastructure projects throughout British Columbia. Acted for both owners and contractors in numerous multi-million-dollar construction delay and productivity claims, including as co-counsel for an international commercial arbitration hearing in London, UK. Acted for both warranty providers and owners in defending or pursuing building warranty claims. Acted for owners, developers and contractors in pursuing and defending construction defects and deficiency claims, including acting for stratas. Regularly advised both owners and contractors on contractual disputes involving issues of notice, default, termination, set-off, withholding of funds and related claims and dispute resolution. Acted as counsel on significant performance bond and labour and material bond claims for both contractors and sureties.
