Si vous désirez mettre une annonce dans le Bulletin, vous pouvez la laisser au bureau, l’envoyer par
télécopieur, par téléphone, ou par courriel. Les annonces doivent être reçues au plus tard jeudi à midi
afin d’être publiées la même fin de semaine. Un montant de 20$ par annonce sera chargé au groupe,
individus, ou associations qui n’auront pas contribué financièrement au Bulletin communautaire.
TIGNISH AND PALMER ROAD COMMUNITY BULLETIN
If you wish to place an announcement in the Community Bulletin, you can leave your notice at our office;
send it in by fax, phone, or e-mail. Announcements must be received no later than Thursday at noon in
order to be published for the same weekend. There will be a $20 charge per article, if the group or
individuals has not in some way donated or contributed to sponsor the Community Bulletin.
CAUSERIE EN ANGLAIS SUR LA CHANDELEUR ET LA MI-CARÊME
À l’occasion de la parution de la traduction anglaise du livre La Chandeleur en Acadie (Acadian Traditions
on Candlemas Day: Candles, Pancakes, and House Visits), le folkloriste Georges Arsenault fera une
présentation en anglais au Musée acadien, à Miscouche, le dimanche 27 janvier à 14h00. Dans sa
causerie « Traditional Acadian Wintertime Celebrations », il parlera de la Chandeleur et de la Mi-Carême à
l’Île et ailleurs dans les régions acadiennes de l’Est du Canada. Entrée gratuite. Date de tempête est le 3
février.
A TALK ON TRADITIONAL ACADIAN WINTERTIME CELEBRATIONS
To mark the publication of his new English-language book, Acadian Traditions on Candlemas Day:
Candles, Pancakes, and House Visits, the folklorist Georges Arsenault will give an illustrated talk (in
English) at the Acadian Museum, in Miscouche, on Sunday January 27th at 2:00 p.m. The talk will deal
with the traditions known as “Chandeleur” (Candlemas), which takes place on February 2nd, and “MiCarême”, celebrated in the middle of Lent. Free admission. Storm date is February 3rd.
LESTER MACPHERSON IN CONCERT
Country gentleman, Lester MacPherson, will be in West Prince on Sunday, January 27th from 2:00 p.m.
to 4:00 p.m. at the Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest, in DeBlois (weather permitting). Admission is $5 or
free with the purchase of a CD. The CDs will be available at the door for $15. 50/50 tickets will be sold.
TIGNISH SPORTS RECREATION ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING
The Tignish Sports Recreation Association will be holding its Annual Meeting on Sunday, January 27th at
7:30 p.m. at the Credit Union Arena in the Rink Boardroom. All are welcome to attend.
TIGNISH HEALTH CENTRE
♥ We regret to inform you that Dr. Sethi will NOT be returning to our clinic next week. We are very sorry
for the inconvenience that this will cause to people who have booked an appointment. We do have Dr.
VanZyl who will be covering for Dr. Naqvi during his leave hopefully for the beginning of February. We
will keep you posted.
♥ We will be having a Chiard (Rapûre) Dinner Fundraiser for the Health Centre on Wednesday,
February 6th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The cost is $10 a plate and you have the choice of a sit
down meal or take-out. For groups or businesses, we will deliver to your work. Please call 882-2260 to
pre-order.
♥ The Annual Volunteer Dinner will be held on Friday, February 15th at the Tignish Legion. Because of
your time and dedication, the Bargain Basement has been a great success for the Health Centre and we
would like to show our appreciation for all that you do. The evening will be filled with entertainment, lots
of laughs, auction, and a very good supper. Evening begins at 5:00 p.m. We hope you all can attend
and have a great time. Please call 882-2260 to let us know if you can attend.
♥ The Bargain Basement is a great asset for Tignish and surrounding areas. If you would like to donate
a few hours a month and become a volunteer, please call 882-2260 or you can leave your name and
phone number on our calendar in the Bargain Basement.

46th AL ANON ANNIVERSARY
A Friendly Group invites you to come and celebrate our 46th Al Anon Anniversary with us on Thursday,
January 31st at 7:30 p.m. at the Tignish Medical Centre (downstairs), Phillip Street. Tignish Al Anon & A.A
speakers’ lunch and fellowship will follow (storm date is February 7th at 7:30 p.m. and if the weather is not
permitted on these dates, the meeting will follow on February 14th).

SENIOR’S DANCE - AGES 45+
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WILL BE NO DANCE ON FEBRUARY 2ND.The next senior’s dance at the
Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest will be on Saturday, February 16th from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
Entertainment will be provided by Dwayne Doiron and Friend. Admission is $6.
DÎNER AU RÔTI DE BOEUF
Venez nous joindre pour un délicieux dîner au rôti de boeuf le dimanche 3 février débutant à midi au
Centre Communautaire de Palmer Road. Le dîner consiste d’un rôti de boeuf avec toutes les garnitures,
dessert, thé et café. Le coût est adultes 10$, aînés 8$, et enfants âgés de 12 ans ou moins 5$. Les
profits iront pour l’entretien de la salle.
ROAST BEEF DINNER
Join us for a delicious roast beef dinner on Sunday, February 3rd beginning at 12:00 noon at the Palmer
Road Community Centre. Dinner consists of roast beef with all the trimmings, dessert, tea, and coffee.
Cost is adults $10, seniors $8, and children aged 12 and under $5. Proceeds towards the up-keep of the
Hall.

Achetez vos billets TÔT, vous ne voulez pas manquer cette soirée! Notre levée de fonds du Comité de
parents de l’école Pierre-Chiasson aura lieu le vendredi 8 février (date de tempête le 15 février). Repas
à 18h00 (chiard et fricot au poulet) suivi d’un tirage d’élimination à 19h30. Gros prix de 2 500$!!!
250$ pour le deuxième prix et d’autres prix additionnelle de 30$ sera donnés! Billets sont 30$ pour le
tirage et le repas ou 25$ pour le tirage seulement. Les détenteurs de billets ne sont pas obligés d’être
présent pour gagner un prix. Doit être 19 ans ou plus pour participer. Il y aura aussi du divertissement, un
tirage de 50/50, et un service de bar. Un nombre limité de billets disponibles! Acheter 4 billets ou plus
et recevez la publicité pour votre entreprise durant notre évènement. Billets en vente au bureau de
l’école Pierre-Chiasson ou des membres du Comité de parents de l’école.
VALENTINE ELIMINATION DRAW / ACADIAN MEAL
Get your tickets EARLY, you don’t want to miss out on this great night! Our Home & School fundraising
event will be held on Friday, February 8th (storm date is February15th). Meal starts at 6:00 p.m. (chiard
and chicken fricot) followed by the Elimination draw at 7:30 p.m. $2,500 top prize!!! $250 second prize
and additional $30 prizes to be given away! Tickets are $30 for the draw and meal, or $25 for the draw
only. Ticket holders do not have to be present to win a prize. Must be 19 years of age or older to attend.
There will also be entertainment, 50/50 draw, and bar service. Limited number of tickets available! Buy 4
or more tickets and get advertising for your business during our event! Tickets can be purchase at
the office of École Pierre-Chiasson or from any of the Home & School Committee members.
FUNERAL PRE-PLANNING FOR PEACE OF MIND
One of the kindest, most caring things you can do for your family is a pre-planned funeral. Beginning
in April of this year, with the implementation of HST, the cost of funerals will increase. However, if you
wish to have your arrangements made before April, your price will not increase. Please feel free to

COMMUNITY OF TIGNISH
The Community of Tignish in partnership with West Prince Family Violence are hosting a “FREE”
pancake and sausage breakfast on Sunday, February 10th at the Fire Hall Clubroom from 8:30 a.m. to
11:00 a.m. This event is to promote “Family Violence Prevention Week” (February 10th to 16th).
The Council’s regular monthly meeting will be held on Monday, February 11th at 7:00 p.m. in the
Boardroom of the Municipal Office.

We would like to thank our family and friends for celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and for all those
who helped in anyway, sent cards, gifts, brought in food, decorated the centre, attended the open house,
and came to the dance. Thank you also to Michael Myers and friends for the lovely music. Thank you

We, the family of the Late Edlow Albert, would like to extend our thanks to Family & Friends for their
kindness & care during our time of need. To all the people near and far who visited during the wake and

Readers, Choir, Organist, and Funeral Parlor. To the Village of St. Louis for the beautiful reception and
those who brought food. As well, to George & Velda Gallant who opened their home for us and prepared a
