ACADIAN DAY CELEBRATIONS Come celebrate Acadian Day with an afternoon full of talent from local artists at the Centre acadien de PrinceOuest, located at 119 DeBlois Rd., Tignish, on Sunday, August 12th, starting at 2:00 p.m. Admission: Adults $5 and children ages 12 and under $3. Hoping to see you there! FUNDRAISER This Sunday, August 12th, Fr. Roy Shea will be holding a fundraiser for his mission in Brazil. It will be held at the Tignish Legion from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., starting with a 50/50 bingo at 2:00 p.m., then a barbeque followed by music and an auction. If anyone has anything to drop off for the auction, they can bring it with them that day. Please come out and support Fr. Roy Shea and have a chance to visit with him. ROYAL STAR FOODS – TIGNISH FISHERIES Come visit the Fish Mart at Royal Star Foods, located at 175 Judes Point, Tignish. We have fish, mussels, sand free clams, oysters, quahogs, etc., along with fresh frozen lobster meat, scallops, shrimp, canned hot pack lobster, lobster paste, and lots of Island made products and gifts. Store hours for the month of August are Sunday, 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Monday to Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. We have FREE delivery throughout P.E.I. on Tuesdays and Fridays. COMMUNITY OF TIGNISH The Council’s Regular Monthly Meeting will be held on Monday, August 13th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Boardroom of the Municipal Office. On the agenda will be the second and final reading of the Dangerous and Unsightly Property Bylaw, Bylaw No. 16. T.O.P.S. Take Off Pounds Sensibly is a non-profit organization to help you lose weight. Whether you have 10 pounds or 100 pounds to lose, come learn how to lose weight sensibly and have fun doing it! We meet every Tuesday. During the month of August, weigh-ins will be from 5:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. and the meeting will follow at 6:00 p.m. (please note time change), at the Tignish Medical Centre. Please enter through the back entrance. Cost is $32 for the year and $2 every week. CENTRE L’ARC-EN-CIEL (LICENCE #4395) CENTRE DE LA PETITE ENFANCE ☺ Les parents qui ont enregistré leurs enfants pour l’automne sont invités à un barbecue familial le mardi, 14 août, à 18h00. Suivant le bbq, les enfants peuvent s’amuser dans le gymnase tandis que les parents assisteront à une session d’information. Nous encourageons toutes les familles d’y assister car il y a quelques changements apportés aux politiques du Centre. ☺ Cette année les programmes de prématernelle et préscolaire commence le lundi 10 septembre, avec des classes en cours d’exécution du lundi au vendredi, de 8h45 à 11h45. Espaces à temps plein sont également disponibles. Nous offrons aussi à l’année longue, des services de garde pour les enfants âgés de 0 à 12 ans, du lundi au vendredi, de 7h00 à 17h30. CENTRE L’ARC-EN-CIEL (LICENCE #4395) FRENCH CHILD CARE CENTRE ☺ Parents who have registered their children for the fall are invited to a family barbeque on Tuesday, August 14th, at 6:00 p.m. Following the bbq, children can play in the gym while their parents attend an information session. We encourage all families to attend, as there have been a few changes to the Centre’s policies. ☺ This year the preschool and pre-kindergarten programs begin on Monday, September 10th, with classes running Monday through Friday, from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Full time spaces are also available. We also have daycare for children ages 0 to 12 years old available year round, Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For more information or to register your child, contact Kassandra at 882-0475 ext 183. CAUSERIE DU MARDI « C’ÉTAIT DANS LA GÂZETTE : NOUVELLES DE MONT-CARMEL ET DE BAIE-EGMONT » Les Causeries du mardi se termineront par une présentation spéciale soulignant le bicentenaire de BaieEgmont et de Mont-Carmel. Elle aura lieu (en français) au Musée acadien, à Miscouche, le mardi 14 août, à 19h30. La soirée réunira Marie-Rose, Balthilde, Azade et Gonzague qui liront des petites et des grandes nouvelles publiées dans les anciens journaux acadiens. Ces nouvelles nous apprendront beaucoup sur les événements autrefois à Baie-Egmont et à Mont-Carmel. Entrée gratuite. TUESDAY TALK (IN FRENCH) ON NEWS OF BYGONE DAYS FROM MONT-CARMEL AND EGMONT BAY The Tuesday Talks will end with a special presentation highlighting the Bicentennial of Egmont Bay and MontCarmel. It will be held (in French) at the Acadian Museum, in Miscouche, on Tuesday, August 14th, at 7:30 p.m. The evening will bring together Marie-Rose, Balthilde, Azade, and Gonzague who will read news articles dealing with events that took place in Mont-Carmel and Egmont Bay in bygone days. Those events were reported in Acadian newspapers of the time. Admission is free. V’NEZ CHOU NOUS – THÉÂTRE ACADIEN Le théâtre acadien « V’nez Chou Nous » sera de retour cette année au Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest, situé à 119, ch DeBlois. Cette comédie française, écrite et dirigée par Raymond J. Arsenault intitulée « Ça me « tente » pas d’aller camper! », ne manquera pas de vous faire rire. Les spectacles sont tous les jeudis durant le mois d’août, à 19h00. Billets pour le spectacle seulement sont 15$ adultes et 8$ pour enfants âgés de 12 ans et moins ou avec repas inclus pour 30$ adultes et 15$ pour les enfants. V’NEZ CHOU NOUS – ACADIAN THEATRE The Acadian theatre, “V’nez Chou Nous 2012”, will be returning this year at the Centre acadien de PrinceOuest, located at 119 DeBlois Rd. This French comedy, written and directed by Raymond J. Arsenault entitled “Ça me «tente» pas d’aller camper!” will be sure to have you laughing. The performances are every Thursday during the month of August, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for show only are $15 for adults and $8 for children ages 12 years and under or with meal included $30 for adults and $15 for children. To reserve a ticket call 882-0475, ext. 147. 10TH ANNUAL RED CLAY BLUEGRASS AND OLD TIME MUSIC FESTIVAL The 10 Annual Red Clay Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival will be held on August 17th, 18th and 19th. The Festival will be featuring many bands around the Maritimes, including Ray Legere, ECMA winner for "Bluegrass Artist of the Year" and five time winner in the categories of Mandolin & Fiddle. The Festival will also be hosting music workshops for various instruments and a youth showcase on Friday afternoon. Daily and weekend passes are available at the gate. Please note that we will also have our multifamily yard sale on Saturday morning starting at 8:00 a.m. Anyone interested may reserve a table for $10. TIGNISH CAP SITE KIDS CAMP The Tignish Cap Site will be offering a kid’s camp for children ages 6 to 9 years old, where kids will learn basic computer skills, play games and have fun! REGGIE CHAISSON MEMORIAL WASHER TOSS TOURNAMENT The 2nd annual Reggie Chaisson Memorial Washer Toss Tournament will be held on Sunday, August 26th, at the Miminegash Ball Diamond on the North side of the Harbour. Registration will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. for anyone ages 14 and up. Cost is $10 per person. Teams will be drawn from hat. Cash prizes will be given out and barbeque on site. Come on out, have some fun, and show your support for the Miminegash Fire Department! COMITÉ RÉGIONAL DES JEUX DE L’ACADIE DE L’ÎLE-DU-PRINCE-ÉDOUARD Recherche d’entraîneurs : C’est avec enthousiasme que le Comité régional des Jeux de l=Acadie lance sa campagne d’inscription pour la Finale 2013 qui aura lieu à Richibucto et Saint-Louis-de-Kent, N.-B., du mercredi 26 juin au dimanche 30 juin 2013. On est à la recherche de personnes de plus de 19 ans voulant être entraîneurs pour la prochaine finale. Les sports faisant partie de la programmation sportive sont l’athlétisme, le badminton mixte, le basket-ball masculin, le mini hand-ball mixte, le soccer féminin et masculin, le softball féminin, le tennis mixte et le volley-ball féminin et masculin. Les entraîneurs doivent au moins posséder un certificat Théorie Partie A du Programme national de certification des entraîneurs. Ceux et celles qui ne possèdent pas le certificat peuvent demander de l’aide financière et technique du Comité régional des Jeux de l=Acadie. Chaque année, ce cours est offert en français par le Comité régional. THANK YOU The family of the late Patricia Harper would like to express a sincere thank you and appreciation to everyone who supported us in any way during our recent bereavement. To our relatives, friends, neighbors and coworkers for their many acts of kindness, to all those who so generously brought food to our homes, for the many cards, emails and phone calls, for the beautiful flowers and plants, for the visits, mass cards, donations to the cemetery fund, and to the staff at the Margaret Stewart Ellis Home who so lovingly cared for Mom. A special thank you to Father Brendon Gallant for the wonderful funeral service and his kindness in assisting us to prepare for it, to the altar servers, Eucharistic Ministers, to Antoinette Perry, the choir and Maureen and Rick for the beautiful music, as well as all of you who attended the wake and funeral services, especially the CWL and the Board of Tignish Initiatives who attended as groups.
