Rain date: August 1st. “LA BONNE SOEUR” Le théâtre “V’nez Chou Nous 2010" 21e édition sera de retour cette année au Centre acadien de Prince-Ouest, DeBlois avec une comédie écrite et dirigée par Raymond J. THE GOOD SISTER The Acadian theatre, “V’nez Chou Nous 2010", 21st edition will return this year at le Centre acadien de PrinceOuest, DeBlois, with a comedy written and directed by Raymond J. Arsenault and music director Léona Perry. The dates for this year’s performance are Thursdays, July 29th and August 5th, 12th and 26th. JUDE’S YOUTH GROUP FUNDRAISER VARIETY CONCERT on Sunday, July 25th - The youth of our Parish will be fundraising to help pay for their bus to go to Steubenville Atlantic in Antigonish, N.S. Our Parish Centre will feature “St. Simon & St. Jude’s Got Talent” from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. There will also be a fudge sale and a 50/50 draw. Admission is $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students. Please come out and support the youth of our community! TIGNISH SENIORS’ HOME CARE CO-OPERATIVE LTD. On behalf of members, staff and residents, we cordially invite you to the Sod Turning Ceremony marking the construction of the Homes’ new 20 private suite expansion. ANNIVERSARY OF THE BEGINNING OF THE ACADIAN DEPORTATION Wednesday, July 28th is the anniversary of the beginning of the Acadian deportation. At 5:55 p.m., in our parish churches of Tignish and Palmer Road (as well as throughout all Acadie), the bells will ring to commemorate this important date of the Acadian history. ST. FELIX GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB The next Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, July 31st. The annual Lucky Leprechaun 4-person, best ball will begin with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. There will be a $10,000.00 prize for a hole-in-one, prizes, draws, 50/50 and bbq to follow. Sign-up now, as the first 72 names will be accepted. Teams or single entries. Call 882-2328. Men’s night is on Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. The golfing program for children is underway. Sylvia Poirier et sa soeur Patricia Garrity, originaires de Miscouche, seront les conférencières. Dans une ambiance de cuisine acadienne d’autrefois, les conférencières rendront hommage à l’art de nos mères acadiennes et montreront des tapis houqués, courtepointes, coutures et broderies faits par leur mère, leurs tantes et leurs grands-mères. TUESDAY TALK ON THE GEOLOGY OF THE EVANGELINE REGION The Tuesday Talk “The Art of our Acadian Mothers” will be held (in English) at the Acadian Museum, in Miscouche on Tuesday, July 27th at 7:30 p.m. Sylvia Poirier and her sister Patricia Garrity, originally from Miscouche, will be the speakers. In the ambience of a traditional Acadian kitchen, the speakers will pay tribute to the art of our Acadian mothers and will showcase hooked rugs, quilts, sewing and embroidery done by their mother, their aunts and their grandmothers. Refreshments. Admission free; donations appreciated. TIGNISH IRISH FOLK FESTIVAL The 2010 Tignish Irish Folk Festival - Thursday, July 29th to Sunday, August 1st. There will be lots of music and fun for all with common ball on Thursday and Friday, a Ceilidh on Friday night, a golf tournament, trivia and pub (Jimmy Sweeney & Jug in Hand from Nova Scotia) on Saturday, and an Irish breakfast and outdoor family concert on Sunday (Guinness, MacDonald Dances, Jug in Hand, fiddler Meghan McKeown and Jimmy Sweeney).
