Dein Vorbereitungsthema: Wales
Auf dieses Thema bezieht sich ein Teil der Aufgaben des Prüfungstags (21.1.2009). Bereite dich
besonders gründlich auf die folgenden Schwerpunkte vor: geography, history, current affairs,
famous people, culture and the status of the Welsh language! Neben den Informationen, die du
dir hierzu selbst aus Büchern, Reiseführern oder aus dem Internet (z. B. www.wikipedia.com)
besorgen kannst, erhältst du manchen Tipp sicher auch von deiner Lehrerin oder deinem Lehrer.
Und hier die Aufgaben, die du schon jetzt zu Hause bearbeitest:
Sprich zuerst deinen Vorlesetext auf den Tonträger und erst danach die Freie Äußerung! Bring den
Tonträger mit diesen beiden Beiträgen zum Prüfungstag mit! Zugelassen sind nur CDs, die auf
CD-Playern abspielbar sind, und normale Audiokassetten (= Standard-MCs; keine
Diktierkassetten, Minidiscs o.ä.). Als Teilnehmer des EW 2 bitte zwei Kassetten/CDs einreichen,
da für jede Sprache eine Extrakassette/-CD verwendet werden muss. Bitte auch nicht die Beiträge
mehrerer Teilnehmer auf einem Tonträger zusammenfassen. Das kostet die Jury sehr viel Zeit.

Manhood
Swiftly free-wheeling, their breath coming easily, the man and the boy steered their
bicycles down the short dip which led them from woodland into open country. Then
they looked ahead and saw that the road began to climb.
“Now, Rob,” said Mr Willison, settling his plump haunches firmly on the saddle,
“just up that rise and we’ll get off and have a good rest.”
“Can’t we rest now?” the boy asked. “My legs feel all funny. As if they’re
turning to water.”
“Rest at the top,” said Mr Willison firmly. “Remember what I told you? The first
thing any athlete has to learn is to break the fatigue barrier.”
“I’ve broken it already.” […]
“Up we go,” said Mr Willison, “and at the top we’ll have a good rest.”
He panted slightly and stood on his pedals, causing his machine to sway from side to side
in a laboured manner. Rob, falling silent, pushed doggedly at his pedals. Slowly, the pair
wavered up the straight road to the top. Once there, Mr Willison dismounted with
exaggerated steadiness, laid his bicycle carefully on its side, and spread his jacket on the
ground before sinking down to rest. Rob slid hastily from the saddle and flung himself
full-length on the grass.

You have 60 / 90 seconds to record why you think you and your class should win the tickets.
Imagine you are recording your contribution on the answering machine the festival has set up.
From rap to opera via hip-hop, pop, rock, heavy
metal, jazz, folk and classical favourites.
Thirty free tickets for the whole festival – that’s
right, all four days – for your school class.
Just tell us why you think you should win the
tickets.
The more interesting your recording, the better
your chance of winning.

notified by Easter 2009.
