Johnsen Description Come hear an explanation the causes of the French Revolution (social, economic, political) and hear some musical excerpts from the contemporary opera "La Révolution française." We'll sample some simple French folk dances to do for fun. No dance experience or expertise necessary. Come enjoy this aspect of French culture! We will discuss theme, era, and composition, and students will love it! Ultimately, we are taking a look at how youth and minority cultures in France create unique language and expression online. Students will have the opportunity to sing several traditional French songs including a Christmas carol. Older students will help with pronunciation, melodies, and encouragement. Participants will leave with a cd and booklet of the songs taught. This is a great way to improve pronunciation and build vocabulary, as well as enjoy the language.
