année 2011 aura vu se produire un nombre exceptionnel d’évènements
’ majeurs,
printemps arabe, crises financières, etc., sans oublier la catastrophe
qui est au plus près de nos activités, le séisme qui a touché la province du Kansai
au Japon et provoqué le tsunami qui a détruit la centrale de Fukushima (nous aurons
l’occasion de revenir sur le sujet de l’enfouissement des centrales nucléaires :
plusieurs articles de Pierre Duffaut et, plus récemment, le discours inaugural du
Professeur In-Mo Lee à notre Congrès de Lyon, peuvent constituer le socle d’un
dossier spécial que nous prévoyons de publier cette année).
En revanche, 2011 aura été une année de bonne fortune pour l’AFTES : un Congrès
réussi, un premier Mastère lancé avec succès, le Projet National « Ville 10D - Ville
d’idées » sur les rails, de nombreuses manifestations techniques (visites,
conférences, présentations) très suivies et, de manière générale, une activité
importante au plan international ; enfin, et surtout, en fin d’année, un passage de
relais présidentiel harmonieux et paisible qui assure le continuum dont notre association a besoin pour poursuivre et développer avec succès les activités engagées.
Quant à notre revue, certes elle poursuit sa ligne éditoriale traditionnelle avec la
publication de recommandations et d’articles techniques (dont les rapports généraux
sur les cinq thèmes du Congrès de Lyon ainsi que quelques contributions sélectionnées pour leur intérêt technique et leur actualité) mais, dans cette édition en
particulier, elle affiche aussi un infléchissement sensible vers des sujets qui touchent
à l’amélioration de la vie en souterrain (installations « ludiques » dans le tunnel
mode doux de la Croix-Rousse à Lyon, réaménagement intégral du « trou des
Halles » à Paris, sécurité et information des automobilistes dans les tunnels sous
le Rocher de Monaco) ; ainsi, pouvons-nous aujourd’hui espérer avoir de plus en
plus le plaisir d’ouvrir nos colonnes à de nouvelles familles d’auteurs, architectes,
urbanistes, artistes, psychologues, etc., tous impliqués dans nos travaux avec le
souci de « faire aimer l’espace souterrain ». Cet élargissement de notre domaine
rédactionnel va dans le bon sens : il correspond à l’intérêt croissant de nos lecteurs
pour tout ce qui touche à l’amélioration de la qualité de vie en souterrain et, aspect
important pour la revue T&ES, il accroît considérablement son potentiel d’articles.
Enfin, avec comme chaque année le retard dû aux contraintes de publication, nous
présentons à nos lecteurs nos meilleurs vœux pour cette année 2012.

n exceptional number of major events occurred in 2011:
the Arab spring, the financial crisis, and so on, as well as a
disaster which is closer to our professional field – the earthquake
that struck the region of Kansai in Japan, resulting in the tsunami
which destroyed the Fukushima power plant. (There will soon be an
opportunity to return to the topic of putting nuclear power stations
below ground. A number of articles by Pierre Duffaut and more
recently, the inaugural address by Professor In-Mo Lee for our
Congress in Lyon, may form the kernel of a special issue that we
plan to publish this year).
At the same time, 2011 was a year of good fortune for AFTES. Our
Congress was a success, as was the launch of our first Masters;
the French National Project “Ville 10D – Ville d’idées” was established, and there were a great many well-attended technical events
including visits, lectures and presentations. There was also plenty
of activity internationally, and more particularly, at year end, a
smooth changeover between Presidents, ensuring the continuity
that our association needs to successfully pursue and expand the
activities to which it is committed.
As to our review, it has of course continued with its traditional editorial
approach, publishing technical recommendations and articles,
including the general reports on the five topics covered at the Lyon
Congress, as well as several other contributions chosen for their technical interest and newsworthiness. In addition, in this issue in particular, we have focused more especially on topics relating to the
improvement of life underground (the “fun” installations in the green
mode transport tunnel at Croix-Rousse in Lyon, the complete redevelopment of the “Les Halles hole” in Paris, safety and information works
for motorists in the Monaco Rock tunnels, and so on). We hope that
in future we will continue to have the pleasure of pieces from a wider
variety of contributors, including architects, planners, artists, psychologists and others who are involved in our work and concerned
to make underground space more attractive for users. This expansion
of our editorial coverage makes sense, corresponding as it does to
the growing interest of our readership in all aspects relating to the
improvement of quality of life underground – and of course for T&ES,
it expands the potential range of articles we can publish.
Lastly, albeit with the usual delay due to printing considerations,
we would like to wish all our readers a very happy new year.
We trust you’ll enjoy this issue.
