Welcome to French II. This year you will review your previous knowledge and continue to build on content, vocabulary, grammar, and culture. This course will consists of you coming to class everyday, prepared, and ready to learn! Throughout the year we will be focussing on a number of standards. These standards are GOALS for you to work towards. Student communication includes basic material, short messages and the expression of simple ideas. Students use memorized/rehearsed phrases, sentences and questions. Through language study, they will make connections with other content areas, compare the language and culture studied with their own. Course Description French III: By the end of this course, students at Proficiency Stage 3 (Novice­High) can identify main ideas and simple information on familiar topics. Students communicate using some original sentences and questions, relying on memorized/rehearsed material, to obtain and provide information. They participate in very simple conversations and get basic needs met in the target culture. Through language study, they will make connections with other content areas, compare the language and culture studied with their own, and participate in local and global communities. Tab dividers (Vocabulary, Grammar, Writing/Journals, Quizzes/Tests, Culture, Homework) 3. Loose leaf paper 4. Pencils 5. Pens 6. Highlighter 7. Textbook handout 8. Workbook (TPG) 9.. A Good Attitude :) Grading: At Brookings­Harbor High School teacher in all content areas will use proficiency based instructional and assessment practices to determine what students know and can do. Students will be assessed using multiple measures including formative and summative assessments. Your grade in French II/III will be determined on a 10 point scale which will correlate to a 5pt rubric system. The 5 point rubric is based on ACTFL and ODE standards. At the end each grading period your grade will be reflected on a scale of 1­5. In addition, a daily/weekly participation grade will be given. Grading Categories:

Writing/Journals Academic Support An ​Extended School Day​ bus will be available to all students each Tuesday and Thursday after school, starting the third week of school, so that students will be able to get extra help from teachers or form study groups on those days. The bus(es) will leave at 4 pm on those days. Pacing Guide Foreign language curriculum is not something that can be set in stone. Tentatively we will be covering a topic/section every two weeks. Some may take longer, some may be shorter. Below, please find the layout of units and topics to be covered throughout the year. If a student does not understand my expectations, I will re­teach them so that the student understands. If the student is actively choosing to not meet basic classroom expectations, the following consequences will apply: 1st consequence​ = reteach / conference after class 2nd consequence​ = parent contact 3rd consequence​ = assign student to stay after school on Tuesday or Thursday for Extended School Day 4th consequence​ = Administrative referral / consequence to be determined by administration.
