Message du Président de l’UEG
Ces dernières semaines furent évidemment marquées par le 25ème Congrès
de l’Union Européenne de Gymnastique dont les urnes de l’Assemblée
Générale à Portorose en Slovénie ont rendu leur verdict…
Après mon élection à la présidence de l’UEG fin 2009 et la prise de
possession, le 23 janvier 2010, du nouveau cycle par la nouvelle équipe, me
voilà réélu pour 4 ans à la tête de cette belle organisation. Accompagné de
mon équipe dirigeante composée d’anciens et de nouveaux membres, je suis
ravi de pouvoir continuer à guider l’UEG pour une nouvelle période et d’avoir,
pour se faire, le soutien et la confiance des fédérations membres de l’Europe.
Au-delà des élections de l’ensemble des autorités de l’UEG qui constituaient le temps fort de ce
Congrès, je dois ajouter que ce rendez-vous fut très agréable, convivial. Ce fut l’objet de moments
d’échanges et de partages, de discussions intéressantes sur différents sujets et à différents
niveaux entre les membres de l’UEG et ceux des Fédérations Nationales Européennes.
Lors de ce Congrès, j’ai ressenti, comme cela avait déjà été le cas lors du Congrès de Malmö en
2011, une réelle confiance de la part des délégués envers l’UEG ; je les en remercie infiniment et
ferai en sorte que cette confiance perdure ces 4 prochaines années. J’espérais vivement que
nous pourrions présenter, à la fin de ce cycle, un bilan positif et prometteur malgré cette période
de crise ; nous avons tout mis en œuvre pour y arriver et nous y sommes parvenus. Je ferai donc
en sorte de poursuivre dans cette voie afin de stabiliser, développer tous ces efforts amorcés ces
4 dernières années.
Je profite de ce message pour remercier la Fédération Nationale de Slovénie, son président
Klemen BEDENIK et toute son équipe pour l’organisation impeccable et l’excellent accueil réservé
aux délégations et aux membres de l’UEG.
Avant le Congrès, nous avons organisé deux Championnats d’Europe importants en Gymnastique
Acrobatique précédé des Jeux Européens des Groupes d’Ages dans cette discipline et en
Gymnastique Aérobic avec Evénements tests pour le Step et la Dance ; sans oublier cet été les
stages d’entraînement et cours pour entraîneurs en Aérobic – Gym. Artistique masculine et Gym.
Artistique féminine – TeamGym et Rythmique.
Les Championnats d’Europe de Gymnastique Acrobatique se sont déroulés à Odivelas au
Portugal et je tiens à remercier la Fédération Nationale Portugaise de recevoir l’UEG aussi
régulièrement pour l’organisation de ses événements dans différentes disciplines et au CT/ACRO
pour son implication dans cette compétition.
Quelques jours plus tard avaient lieu les Championnats d’Europe de Gymnastique Aérobic à
Arques en France qui furent un succès ; organisés de manière extrêmement professionnelle par la
Fédération Française et suivis techniquement par l’œil avisé du CT AER de l’UEG.
Fin octobre, j’ai participé avec la Directrice de l’UEG, Kirsi Erofejeff-Engman, au Symposium
organisé par la FIG sur le thème « Programme de compétition, système de qualification et révision
du calendrier FIG », éléments déterminants pour l’avenir de la gymnastique, son développement
et la place des Unions Continentales dans leur processus d’évolution et de reconnaissance.
Enfin, fin novembre, nous avons rencontré, comme tous les ans, nos partenaires du Pool des
fournisseurs et nous sommes mis d’accord sur la manière de poursuivre notre coopération en
2014 et jusqu’en 2017.

Questions au nouveau Président élu :
UEG : Le 25ème Congrès de l’UEG s’est terminé le 8 décembre dernier, comment avez-vous
vécu ces quelques jours ?
Georges Guelzec : Parfaitement bien ; je ressentais une grande satisfaction à l’idée que l’équipe
2010 / 2013 avait fait du bon travail et que les FN appréciaient.
UEG : Dans quel état d’esprit étiez-vous au moment de votre élection ?
Georges Guelzec : J’étais serein, j’avais ce sentiment de reconnaissance du devoir accompli.
UEG : Etes-vous satisfait de votre nouvelle équipe dirigeante ?
Georges Guelzec : Oui, bien évidemment mais je tiens à préciser que d’autres candidats auraient
également pu donner satisfaction.
UEG : Quelles sont vos priorités dans les mois à venir ?
Georges Guelzec : Il va dans un premier temps falloir faire une synthèse du bilan du mandat
précédent pour pouvoir poursuivre les « chantiers » en cours et en ouvrir d’autres avec la nouvelle
équipe.
UEG : Que peut-on vous souhaiter pour les 4 prochaines années ?
Georges Guelzec : Que cette nouvelle équipe apporte encore plus d’idées nouvelles pour que la
gymnastique continue d’évoluer et de se développer correctement dans une société
continuellement en « mouvement ».

Message de la Chef Médias de l’UEG
Cette année qui fut marquée par l’organisation de championnats européens en
ART, GR, ACRO et AER, s’est terminée par le Congrès électoral de l’UEG qui
mettait un terme au cycle 2010 – 2013 et qui marquait le lancement du cycle
2014 – 2017.
L’UEG fait donc « peau neuve » avec de nombreux « anciens » et quelques
nouveaux pour entamer un mandat dans le prolongement du précédent avec à
sa tête le président Georges Guelzec, réélu avec 40 voix sur 41 bulletins
valides, un succès !

Ce sont donc les Jeux Européens des Groupes d’Age en ACRO ainsi que les Championnats
d’Europe de cette discipline et les Championnats d’Europe de Gymnastique Aérobic qui se sont
déroulés ces derniers mois. Le Portugal et la France furent les pays hôtes de ces événements de
qualité. Grâce à ces deux compétitions, c’est une nouvelle étape qu’a franchi l’UEG au niveau de
sa communication avec l’insertion en masse de clips d’exercices complets qui ont extrêmement
bien fonctionnés pour la Gymnastique Acrobatique (avec un clip du Duo Mixte senior portugais
champions d’Europe vu plus de 50 000 fois !) et du Live Streaming produit et réalisé à l’interne
pour la Gymnastique Aérobic.
A noter pour les Championnats d’Europe d’Aérobic à Arques, l’apparition des nouvelles disciplines
Aérobic Step et Aérobic Dance lors d’un événement test qui précédait la compétition.
Il y a 15 jours, les 44 Fédérations membres de l’UEG présentes à Portorose élisaient la majorité
des nouvelles autorités pour le mandat à venir.
C’est donc pour 4 années supplémentaires que le Président sortant, Georges Guelzec/FRA,
poursuivra ses actions avec comme partenaires, un Conseil Présidentiel composé de deux
anciens membres : Malin Eggertz-Forsmark/SWE et Ruedi Hediger/SUI et d’un nouveau : Farid
Gayibov/AZE, et un Comité Exécutif où seuls deux membres de la précédente législature restent
en place mais où les 5 autres changent.
Le reste des élections est bien évidemment détaillé un peu plus loin dans ce bulletin dans un
article dédié au 25ème Congrès de l’UEG à Portorose/SLO.
La nouvelle famille de l’UEG repart donc au travail en 2014 avec de nombreux rendez-vous pour
les premiers mois de l’année : la première réunion des nouveaux CP et CE fin janvier, la réunion
des présidents techniques de l’UEG début mars, le 1er Séminaire Communication de l’UEG fin
mars, les Championnats d’Europe de Trampoline, Double Mini-Trampoline et Tumbling début avril
et les Championnats d’Europe de Gymnastique Artistique féminine et masculine en mai et bien
d’autres...
Il est donc désormais temps de vous souhaiter de joyeuses fêtes de fin d’année et tous mes vœux
pour l’année 2014.

25ème Congrès UEG – Portorose/SLO
L’Assemblée Générale du 25ème Congrès de l’UEG s’est tenue les 6 et 7 décembre à l’hôtel «
Grand Hôtel Bernardin - Convention Center ». Le Congrès était organisé conjointement par la
Fédération de Gymnastique de Slovénie et le secrétariat de l’UEG. 44 Fédérations membres de
l’UEG étaient présentes.

La première journée était dédiée à la première partie de l’Assemblée Générale.
En effet, après l’ouverture officielle du 25ème Congrès par le Président de l’UEG Georges
GUELZEC, les 44 Fédérations Nationales avec leurs 97 délégués présents à Portorose/SLO ont
pu découvrir les messages de bienvenue de M. Edvard KOLAR, Directeur Général de la Direction
Sport du Ministère de l’éducation, de la science et du sport en Slovénie ainsi que de M. Klemen
BEDENIK, Président de la Fédération Slovène de Gymnastique.
Georges GUELZEC a ensuite rappelé les grandes étapes de ce mandat 2010 – 2013 et est
revenu sur l’anniversaire des 30 ans de l’UEG célébrés l’an dernier en 2012, en rendant
notamment hommage au Président fondateur M. Pierre CHABLOZ.
Il a évoqué les 3 grands axes sur lesquels il s’est appuyé ces 4 dernières années, à savoir la
COMMUNICATION, les FINANCES et le SPORT avant de laisser la parole entre autres aux
présidents des Comités Techniques dont les discours ont ému l’assemblée puisque ce Congrès
marquait pour 5 d’entre eux la fin de leur présidence et pour 3 d’entre eux leur départ de l’UEG
même s’ils feront toujours partie de la famille de la gymnastique !
La journée s’est poursuivie avec l’intervention de Paul GARBER, vice-président en charge des
Finances. Il a également conclu en expliquant qu’il allait regretter l’Union Européenne de
Gymnastique dans la mesure où lui aussi se retire après de nombreuses années au service de la
Gymnastique en générale et européenne tout particulièrement.
Le calendrier des compétitions pour les 5 prochaines années a été évoqué et la journée s’est
terminée par une présentation faite par Georges GUELZEC sur les prochains Jeux Européens qui
auront lieu en 2015 à Bakou/AZE suivie de l'intervention du Président de la Fédération
Internationale de Gymnastique, Prof. Bruno Grandi.

A noter quelques autres temps forts de cette journée avec
l’organisation par la Fédération Finlandaise de Gymnastique
d’une présentation de la Gymnaestrada 2015 avec un cocktail
destiné aux Fédérations européennes présentes à Portorose.
Une réunion importante était organisée en fin de journée pour les présidents des Fédérations
Nationales européennes afin d’évoquer les futures candidatures européennes lors du Congrès de
la Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique.
Les élections ont donc eu lieu le samedi 7 décembre 2013 dans le cadre de l’Assemblée Générale
et l’UEG a renouvelé ses autorités pour un nouveau cycle de 4 ans.
La nouvelle équipe de l’UEG est prête pour le cycle 2014 - 2017.
M. Georges GUELZEC a été réélu en tant que Président de l'Union
Européenne de Gymnastique avec 40 votes sur 41 bulletins valides.
Les nouveaux Vice-présidents de l'UEG sont : Ruedi HEDIGER/SUI (ancien) - Malin EGGERTZ
FORSMARK/SWE (ancien) et Farid GAYIBOV/AZE (nouveau)

Honorariat
Dans le cadre de son 25ème Congrès et à la suite des élections, l’Union Européenne de
Gymnastique a honoré 15 de ses membres en leur remettant des médailles de reconnaissance.
Sylvie Martinet, élue en 2007 et membre du CTF, fut la
première à recevoir une distinction; Elle fut honorée avec la
médaille de bronze pour ses activités au sein de l’UEG.
L’UEG et son Président ont ensuite remis les médailles d’argent à :
- Metin Sayin, membre du CE depuis 2005
- Rosa Dvoracek, membre du CT-TG depuis 2005
- Franziska Streit, membre CT-GPT depuis 2005
- Martin Laws, membre du CT-TRA depuis 2005
- Roger Pittman, membre du CT-GpT depuis 2005
Malheureusement, les membres sortants
suivants, médaillés d’argent, étaient absents:
- Yelena Levina (AER).
- Montse Ubia (CTF)
- Valpuri Taulasalo (TRA)

Enfin, nous avons poursuivi avec les médailles d'or et titres de "Membre Honoraire" pour :
- Paul Garber, élu membre du Comité exécutif en 1998, lors de la 16e Assemblée Générale à
Bratislava et en 2005 comme Vice-président.
- Manuel Boa de Jesus, élu en 1999 membre du Comité Technique Gymnastique pour tous et en
2001 membre du Comité exécutif.
- Detlef Mann a rejoint la famille de l'UEG un peu plus tard que Gianfranco, mais c'était quandmême il y a 20 ans, en 1993 et il assumait depuis 2005, la présidence du Comité technique GpT.
- Rui Vinagre Rui élu membre du CT-TRA en 2001
- Laurie Colton élu Président du Groupe de travail ACRO en 1999 et Président du Comité
technique en 2001.
- Gianfranco Marzolla, plus "ancien" membre UEG. Gianfranco a en effet été élu en 1989, lors du
7e Congrès de l'UEG à Vienne et assumait depuis 1993, la présidence du CTM, donc depuis 20
ans.
Cet honorariat s’est poursuivi avec la passation des pouvoirs et les anciens et nouveaux membres
des autorités de l’UEG ont pu ensuite se retrouver, partager leurs expériences et échanger des
souvenirs dans une ambiance très conviviale et ce fut l’occasion d’immortaliser ces instants en
photos !

Erkki TERVO, membres. Ils sont secondés par les scrutateurs élus à l’unanimité : Sabrina KLAESBERG (GER), Jan NOVAK (SVK) et Riccardo VENTURINI (SMR). APPROBATION DU PROCES‐VERBAL DE LA 24E ASSEMBLEE GENERALE Le procès‐verbal des délibérations de la 24ème Assemblée Générale, des 30 septembre et 1er octobre 2011, au Hilton Malmö City (SWE), est approuvé à l’unanimité. ADMISSIONS, DEMISSIONS, SUSPENSIONS, EXCLUSIONS Il n'y a aucune admission, démission, ni suspension, ni exclusion. Décision concernant la gestion financière : la gestion financière du Comité exécutif pour les années 2011‐2012 est approuvée à l'unanimité. Décharge aux Autorités de l'UEG : la décharge est donnée au Comité exécutif pour sa gestion. Projection 2013, Budget 2014, Plan 2015 Les délégués sont informés sur la situation financière 2013 et sur les prévisions 2014 ‐ 2015. Les budgets 2013 et les prévisions 2014/2015 sont approuvés à l'unanimité. PROPOSITIONS DES FEDERATIONS MEMBRES Aucune proposition n'a été transmise dans le délai fixé au 06.09.2013, respectivement au 06.07.2013 en ce qui concerne les statuts. ELECTIONS Le président, les vice‐présidents, les membres du Comité exécutif, les présidents des Comités Techniques et l’Instance de Contrôle sont élus par l’Assemblée générale. Les membres des Comités Techniques sont élus par le nouveau Comité exécutif. Les Fédérations membres ont été informées le 9 septembre dernier du nombre insuffisant de candidats pour le CT Gymnastique pour Tous, l'Instance de contrôle et l'Instance d'appel. Stages d’entraînement et cours pour entraîneurs UEG 2013
Comme chaque année, l’UEG a organisé durant l’été des stages
d’entraînement pour les différentes disciplines, rendez-vous qui sont
nécessaires au développement de la gymnastique européenne et qui
sont devenus au fil des ans des événements incontournables dans le
calendrier des manifestations UEG.
L’objectif est de créer pendant quelques jours et dans un contexte
favorable une réelle et bonne collaboration entre experts, entraineurs,
gymnastes et de favoriser et valoriser l’échange d’expérience entre les
différents intervenants et participants.

A noter que cette année le CTF de l’UEG a innové pour son rapport en ligne en choisissant une
version plus dynamique et interactive au moyen d’une présentation avec photos et vidéos
intégrées accessible depuis un lien situé sur le site internet de l’UEG dans les sections dédiées à
la Gymnastique Artistique féminine et aux Stages.

ChE ACRO – Odivelas/POR
Alors que les 7èmes Jeux Européens des
Groupes d’Ages qui concernaient les
gymnastes de 11 à 16 ans et ceux de 12 à
18 ans, se sont déroulés du 18 au 20 octobre
et qu’ils nous ont offert une superbe
compétition et très prometteuse, la
compétition s’est poursuivie avec les 10èmes
Championnats d’Europe Juniors et les
26èmes Championnats d’Europe Seniors de
Gymnastique Acrobatique, du 23 au 27
octobre.
Ces compétitions se sont déroulées dans la ville d’Odivelas toute proche de Lisbonne au Portugal
et la Fédération Portugaise de Gymnastique a encore une fois prouvé son professionnalisme et
son efficacité en organisant un événement de qualité.
Plusieurs nations se sont illustrées lors de ces Championnats et notamment la Russie qui est
repartie avec le plus grand nombre de médailles (30 au total dont 16 en or), suivie par la GrandeBretagne qui en a remporté 24 dont 11 en or et enfin la Biélorussie qui a décroché 16 médailles
dont 11 en bronze. Les autres pays médaillés sont : le Portugal, à domicile, avec 8 médailles,
l’Ukraine, la Belgique, la Pologne et la Bulgarie.
Les prochains grands rendez-vous de nos gymnastes européens sont les 24èmes Championnats
du Monde de Gymnastique Acrobatique qui se dérouleront en juillet 2014 à Levallois en France et
qui serviront de qualifications pour les Jeux Européens de Bakou en 2015, avant de remettre leurs
titres en jeu lors des prochains Championnats d’Europe fin 2015.
Hommage à Laurie Colton
A l’occasion de la cérémonie de clôture des Championnats, le
Comité Technique de l’UEG a rendu un joli hommage à son
président qui a terminé sa carrière au sein de l’UEG et de la
famille de l’ACRO avec cet événement.
C’est en effet dans la plus grande discrétion que le CT ACRO de
l’UEG avait préparé une mini cérémonie de remerciement à son
président Laurie Colton, qui s’est déroulée en amont de la
cérémonie de clôture de ces Championnats et devant un parterre
de gymnastes venus ovationner celui qui a passé une grande
partie de sa vie au service de l’ACRO.
Après un bref discours prononcé par la vice-présidente du CT, Carine Charlier, c’est un diaporama
avec de multiples photos de Laurie Colton qui a défilé sur l’écran positionné dans la salle et
devant un public attentif.
Il a ensuite été demandé à Laurie de monter sur la plus haute marche du podium et Carine,
secondée par le président de la Fédération Portugaise de Gymnastique et le Directeur du CO de
ces Championnats, lui a remis une médaille symbolique pour couronner l’ensemble de sa carrière.
Emu, Laurie Colton a pris la parole et rappelé combien la Gymnastique Acrobatique était une
superbe discipline.

Résumé
La ville portugaise d'Odivelas fut l'hôte des ChE ACRO du 16 au 28 octobre 2013. Un « mix »
composé d'une excellente organisation, d'un travail acharné et des efforts de la FN POR, du COL,
du CT-ACRO ainsi que des juges experts invités et des volontaires, a contribué à la réalisation
d'un Championnat d’Europe qui peut être considéré comme un énorme succès et qui sera un
exemple pour les futures manifestations.
Comme toujours quand un nouveau Code de Pointage et des tables de difficultés sont introduits,
les Championnats d’Europe sont la première compétition majeure pour tester le nouveau format.
Avec l'accent mis sur l'artistique, de nombreux duos/groupes devaient trouver, pour leur exercice,
une dimension supplémentaire. Certains ont mieux réussi que d'autres.
Compétition
20 Fédérations Nationales (FN) ont participé, dont certaines avaient profité de l'assistance du CTACRO/UEG à travers des stages d'entraînement et cours pour entraîneurs. « Ce fut très gratifiant
de voir le fruit de nos efforts lors de cette compétition ». La manifestation des groupes d'âge a
duré trois jours afin de gérer les nombreuses inscriptions. Deux jours après la fin des Groupes
d'âge, la manifestation des Seniors et Juniors a commencé, marquée par des performances
spectaculaires.
Avec l'introduction d'un groupe d'âge supplémentaire, il fallait s'attendre à une augmentation du
nombre de participants. Ces attentes furent exaucées et nous avons réalisé un record de
participation.
Réclamations et sanctions
Une réclamation qui a été posée fut, après mûre réflexion, rejetée. Par 2 fois, il y a eu une
tentative de remise en cause d'une pénalité, malgré le fait qu'il ait été clairement expliqué, avant
les manifestations, lors des deux réunions d'orientation, que seules des réclamations contre la
difficulté seraient acceptées.
Traitement médical
Seul un groupe s'est retiré suite à une blessure contractée avant l'arrivée à Odivelas. Le médecin
officiel fera certainement un rapport plus détaillé. Je profite de cette occasion pour remercier le
médecin pour son aide durant la manifestation.

Hébergement
L'hébergement était d'un bon niveau, il y avait suffisamment de place disponible et aucune
réclamation n’a été déposée auprès du CT.
Repas
Le petit-déjeuner fut servi dans les hôtels, les repas de midi et du soir dans le restaurant situé
dans la salle de compétition. Le choix était basique, y.c. salades et repas végétariens. Les repas
furent en général bons et sains.
Transport
Au début, le transport de l'aéroport et celui entre les hôtels et la salle de compétition furent
légèrement problématiques. Cependant, dès que les organisateurs furent conscients de ces
difficultés, le transport s'est amélioré. La réaction générale au sujet de la mise à disposition des
bus et transports fut utile et coopérative. En cas de problèmes, et ce fut rare, une solution fut
trouvée de manière rapide et efficace.
Banquets
Les banquets de clôture furent organisés dans l'un des hôtels officiels ; ils étaient d'un bon niveau
et les plats correspondaient à la plupart des goûts. Le transport semble avoir fonctionné sans
problème.
Service résultats
Ce service fut mis à disposition et géré par une compagnie portugaise, Scoringgym. Ce service fut
excellent et les nouvelles fonctionnalités comparées aux championnats précédents furent une
amélioration substantielle. Chaque fois qu'un problème s'est présenté, la réaction des techniciens,
pour le résoudre, fut rapide et professionnelle.
Groupes d'âge
La qualité des compétences continue de s'améliorer et prouve une introduction idéale à la
compétition via un système contrôlé et planifié. Les exercices au sol comprenant 4 éléments
obligatoires et 2 des tables FIG de difficultés (avec valeur limitée) montrent une amélioration par
rapport à la manifestation précédente à Varna. Il y a encore de la place pour une amélioration des
éléments gymniques individuels; un sujet que les entraîneurs et gymnastes prendront
certainement en considération dans les années à venir.
Résultats – Groupe d'âge 11- 16 ans
Les Russes ont dominé ce groupe en gagnant 4 des 5 catégories. Seule la médaille d'or du duo
mixte de la GBR a empêché une victoire écrasante de la FN RUS. Dans les 4 autres catégories, la
GBR a gagné 4 médailles d'argent, le POR 2 médailles de bronze. Les FN ISR, GER et BUL ont
gagné chacune une médaille de bronze.
Résultats – Groupe d'âge 12 – 18 ans
Ce fut une répétition du groupe d'âge 11-16; la FN RUS a gagné 4 médailles d'or sur 5.
La GBR gagne la médaille d’argent dans les 4 autres catégories et l’or avec son quatuor masculin,
ce qui a de nouveau empêché une victoire écrasante des russes. L’UKR, la BEL et la BLR ont
également gagné des médailles.
Championnats juniors
La compétition des juniors était d'un haut niveau, avec quelques très bons exercices, en particulier
dans la catégorie des duos mixtes. La composition de nombreux exercices était d'un standard
élevé, permettant de "raconter une histoire" et avec de réelles interactions avec la musique
accompagnante. L'impression générale fut celle d'une performance agréable et réalisée avec
beaucoup de compétence de la part de nombreux gymnastes.

Résultats
Les FN RUS et GBR étaient en bonne forme et furent les principaux challengers dans toutes les
catégories. La GBR a gagné 3 médailles d'or, la RUS 2 dans le concours multiple. La BLR, la BEL
et le POR ont gagné des médailles dans les autres compétitions.
Dans les compétitions individuelles, les choses se sont répétées lors des exercices dynamiques.
L’UKR a gagné la médaille de bronze avec son groupe féminin et le duo féminin. La BEL, le POR
et la BLR ont remporté les autres médailles dans la catégorie dynamique.
La compétition individuelle statique était un peu plus serrée; la BLR a gagné une médaille d'or et 2
de bronze. Les FN RUS et GBR ont poursuivi leur "lutte" avec 2 médailles d'or chacune dans cette
compétition passionnante et divertissante.
Championnats seniors
Quelques performances excellentes ont été présentées lors de la compétition des seniors; le
niveau semble s'élever puisque chaque championnat amène son lot d’éléments d'équilibre
innovants et d'éléments dynamiques spectaculaires. L'équipe RUS a continué dans sa lancée et
s’est montrée très forte dans toutes les catégories. Cependant, elle fut mise au défi par la GBR.
Les deux pays ont continué à dominer les compétitions, également au niveau des seniors. Le
POR qui continue de s'améliorer, a fait des progrès avec la médaille de bronze du concours
multiple pour les duos mixtes, et ce duo a également remporté l'or en individuelle statique et le
bronze en individuelle dynamique. Le quatuor POL a travaillé dur pour obtenir une médaille de
bronze bien méritée dans la catégorie des individuels statiques.

« C'était mon dernier Championnat d'Europe en tant que Président du CT-ACRO/UEG. Je suis
très reconnaissant pour les sympathiques et généreux messages sur mon implication dans la
gymnastique acrobatique. Ce fut un honneur et un plaisir d'avoir eu l'occasion de travailler avec
autant de personnes dévouées et que nos efforts aient permis d’obtenir le mérite auquel cette
discipline a droit. Je garde de nombreux et très heureux souvenirs et je me réjouis de voir la
gymnastique ACRO lors des Jeux Européens 2015 à Bakou. »

ChE AER – Arques/FRA
Les Championnats de Gymnastique Aérobic avaient lieu à Arques dans le Nord de la France,
dans un magnifique et moderne complexe gymnique, regroupant toutes les disciplines de la
Gymnastique dans des infrastructures aux aménagements ultra-modernes, et ayant servi de lieu
de préparation à de nombreux athlètes de différentes nations à l’occasion des Jeux Olympiques
de Londres 2012.
Ces Championnats, précédés de l’événement test pour les nouvelles disciplines Aérobic Step et
Aérobic Dance furent un succès tant au niveau de l’organisation en générale avec le travail de la
Fédération Française de Gymnastique qui n’a pas ménagé ses efforts pour mettre les gymnastes
dans les meilleures conditions possibles pour offrir des compétitions de qualité, que de la
participation, des épreuves, de la médiatisation de l’événement avec la retransmission en Live
Streaming sur le web des qualifications et des finales de l’ensemble des Championnats.
9 Nations ont décroché des médailles lors de ces Championnats et le trio de tête est composé de
la Russie avec 17 médailles dont 8 en or, suivie de la Roumanie avec 11 médailles dont 5 en or et
enfin l’Italie avec 7 médailles dont 2 en or.
La France, chez elle, est repartie avec 5 médailles dont 1 en or obtenue en toute fin de
compétition avec le Groupe exclusivement masculin qui décroche le titre européen et offre à son
pays un hymne qui clôt ces Championnats ! Les autres pays médaillés sont : la Hongrie,
l’Espagne, l’Ukraine et l’Autriche.
A noter que ces Championnats furent les premiers à avoir servi de qualifications pour les Jeux
Européens qui se dérouleront à Bakou/AZE en 2015. Les Groupes et Duos Mixtes concernés
constituent les premières nations de la Délégation GYMNASTIQUE qui seront présentes pour
cette compétition.

Message of the UEG President
These recent weeks were obviously marked by the 25th Congress of the
European Union of Gymnastics, whose ballot boxes of the General Assembly in
Portorose/Slovenia have delivered their verdict…
After my election as president of the UEG end of 2009 and the transmission of
authority on January 23rd, 2010 for the new cycle and the new team, here I am
re-elected for 4 years at the head of this great organisation. Accompanied by
my managing team composed of former and new members, I am very pleased
to continue to guide the UEG for a new mandate and to have, for this mission,
the support and trust of the member federations of Europe.
Beyond the elections of all UEG Authorities, which were the highlight of this congress, I would like
to add that this rendez-vous was really enjoyable and convivial. It presented the occasion of
moments of exchange and sharing, interesting discussions on different subjects and at different
levels between the UEG members and the delegates of the European National Federations.
At this congress I have felt, as it was already the case during the 2011 congress in Malmö, a real
trust on behalf of the delegates towards the UEG; I therefore sincerely thank them and I will do my
utmost that this trust endures these coming 4 years. I have sincerely hoped that we will be able to
present, at the end of this cycle, a positive and promising result despite this period of crisis; we
have made every effort to achieve it and we have succeeded. Thus, I will seek to continue this
way in order to stabilize and develop all these efforts initiated over these last 4 years.
I take this opportunity to thank the Slovenian National Federation, its President Klemen BEDENIK
and all his team, for the excellent organisation and the warm welcome of all UEG delegations and
members.
Before the congress, we had organised two important European Championships in Acrobatic
Gymnastics, preceded by the Acrobatic European Age Group Games, and in Aerobic Gymnastics
including the test events for the Disciplines Aerobic Step and the Aerobic Dance. Not to mention
this summer’s training camps and coaches’ courses in Aerobic, Men’s and Women’s Artistic
Gymnastics, in TeamGym and in Rhythmic Gymnastics.
The Acrobatic European Championships took place in Odivelas in Portugal and I would like to
thank the Portuguese National Federation for welcoming the UEG so regularly for the organisation
of its events in different disciplines and of course also the ACRO/TC for its commitment for this
competition.
A few days later the Aerobic European Championships were successfully held in Arques/France;
organised very professionally by the French Federation and technically assisted by the
experienced UEG AER-TC.
Late October, I participated with the UEG Director, Kirsi Erofejeff-Engman, at the Symposium
organised by the FIG on the topic « Competition programme, Qualification system and revision of
the FIG calendar», key elements for the future of gymnastics, its development and the position of
the Continental Unions in their process of evolution and recognition.
Finally, in late November, we came together, as every year, with our partners of the pool of
apparatus suppliers and we agreed on how to continue our cooperation in 2014 and until 2017.

UEG: the 25th UEG Congress ended on 8th of December, how did you live these few days?
Georges Guelzec: Perfectly well, I felt a great satisfaction in knowing that the team 2010/2013 had
done a good job and that the FN appreciated it.
UEG: in what state of mind were you at the time of your election?
Georges Guelzec: I was serene; I had this feeling of recognition of the accomplished work.
UEG: are you satisfied with your new team?
Georges Guelzec: yes, of course. However, I wish to underline that other candidates were
certainly also able to make a satisfying work.
UEG: what are your priorities in the coming months ?
Georges Guelzec: as a first step it will be necessary to make a summary of the report on the
previous mandate in order to be able to continue the ongoing projects and to start different ones
together with the new team.
UEG: what can we wish you for the next 4 years?
Georges Guelzec: that this new team brings even more new ideas allowing gymnastics to continue
its development and growth in a society that is in continuous "movement."

This year, marked by the organisation of the European Championships in
ART, RG, ACRO and AER, ended with the UEG election congress which
terminated the 2009 – 2013 cycle and marked the launching of the 2014 –
2017 cycle.
The UEG appears thus a bit new with many former members and some new
ones to start a new mandate in continuation with the preceding one chaired by
the president Georges Geulzec, re-elected with 40 votes on 41 valid ballots –
a great success!

In this second half of 2013 we had our European ACRO Age Group Games and European
Championships as well as the Aerobic European Championships. Portugal and France were the
host countries of these high quality events. Thanks to these two competitions, the UEG has done
a further step in the field of its communication with the numerous insertions of clips showing full
exercises of the Acrobatic competitions attracting a lot of visitors (with a clip of the Portuguese
Senior European Mixed Pair Champions viewed over 50 000 times!) and a UEG produced Live
Streaming for Aerobic Gymnastics.
Note that in the framework of the Aerobic European Championships in Arques, two new disciplines
- Aerobic Step and Aerobic Dance - were introduced as a test edition preceding the
Championships.
15 days ago, the 44 UEG member federations present in Portorose elected the majority of the new
authorities for the coming mandate.
It is thus for 4 additional years that the outgoing president, Georges Guelzec/FRA, continues to
work on his actions together with his partners, a President’s Board composed of two former
members: Malin Eggertz-Forsmark/SWE and Ruedi Hediger/SUI and a new one: Farid
Gayibov/AZE, and an Executive Committee of which only two members of the previous cycle
continue together with 5 newly elected members.
The rest of the election results are of course documented in detail further on in this bulletin in an
article dedicated to the 25th UEG Congress in Portorose/SLO.
The new UEG family will resume work in 2014 with numerous events planned to be held in the first
months of the year: the first meeting of the new PB and EC at the end of January, the meeting with
the UEG technical presidents early March, the 1st UEG Communication Seminar end of March, the
Trampoline, Double Mini-Trampoline and Tumbling European Championships early April and the
Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics European Championships as well in May and many
others….
But let me first wish you a happy holiday Season and all my best wishes for 2014.

25th UEG Congress
The General Assembly of the 25th UEG Congress was held on the 6th et 7th December in the hotel
« Grand Hôtel Bernardin - Convention Center ». The Congress was organised by the Gymnastics
Federation of Slovenia and the UEG secretariat. The 44 member Federations of the UEG were
present.

The first day was dedicated to the first part of the General Assembly.
After the official opening of the 25th Congress by the UEG president, Georges GUELZEC, the 44
National Federations with their 97 delegates present in Portorose/SLO could discover the
welcome messages of Mr Edvard KOLAR, Acting Director-General of Sport Directorate at Ministry
of Education, Science and Sport in Slovenia and Mr Klemen BEDENIK, President of the Slovenian
Gymnastics.
Georges GUELZEC then recalled the important steps of this mandate 2009 – 2013 and he came
back on the 30th anniversary of UEG which was celebrated last year in 2012, by paying special
tribute to the founder president, Mr Pierre CHABLOZ.
He evoked the 3 large axes on which he relied these last 4 years, namely COMMUNICATION,
FINANCES and the SPORT before giving the floor, among others, to the presidents of the
Technical Committees whose speeches have moved the assembly as this Congress will mark for
5 of them the end of their presidency, for 3 of them the departure from UEG although they will
always be part of the gymnastics family !
The journey continued with the intervention of Paul GARBER, vice-president in charge of the
Finances. He also concluded by explaining that he will regret the European Union of Gymnastics
as he also will retire after numerous years dedicated to Gymnastics in general and particularly
European gymnastics.
The competition calendar for the 5 next years has been presented and the day ended with a
presentation made by Georges GUELZEC on the next European Games which will take place in
2015 Baku/AZE folllowed by a speech of the FIG President, Prof. Bruno Grandi.

Another special moment of this day was the organisation by the
Finnish Gymnastics Federation of a presentation of the
Gymnaestrada 2015 with a cocktail for the invited European
Federations present in Portorose.
An important meeting was held at the end of the day for the presidents of the European National
Federations in order to evoke the future European candidatures for the Congress of the
International Gymnastics Federation.
The elections were thus held on Saturday December 7th, 2013, in the framework of the General
Assembly and the UEG renewed its authorities for a new cycle of 4 years.
The UEG new team is ready for the new cycle 2014 - 2017.
Mr Georges Guelzec was re-elected as President of the European
Union of Gymnastics with 40 votes out of 41 valid ballots.

Awards
In the framework of its 25th Congress and following the elections, the European Union of
Gymnastics has honoured 15 of its members by rewarding them with the Medal of Merit.
Sylvie Martinet, elected in 2007 and member of the WTC, was
the first one to receive a distinction ; she was honoured with
the bronze medal for her activities within the UEG.
The UEG and its President afterwards handed over the silver medals to :
- Metin Sayin, member of the EC since 2005
- Rosa Dvoracek, member of the TC-TG since 2005
- Franziska Streit, member of the TC-GfA since 2005
- Martin Laws, member of the TC-TRA since 2005
- Roger Pittman, member of the CT-GfA since 2005
Unfortunately, the following leaving

Finally, we continued with the gold medals and titles of « Honorary Member » for :
- Paul Garber, elected member of the Executive Committee in 1998, at the 16th General Assembly
in Bratislava and in 2005 as Vice-president.
- Manuel Boa de Jesus, elected in 1999 member of the Technical Committee Gymnastics for All in
and 2001 member of the Executive Committee.
- Detlef Mann has joined the UEG family a little later as Gianfranco, but it was still 20 years ago in
1993, and he assumed since 2005 the presidency of the Technical Committee GfA.
- Rui Vinagre Rui, elected member of the TC-TRA in 2001
- Laurie Colton, elected President of the Work Group ACRO in 1999 and President of the
Technical Committee in 2001.
- Gianfranco Marzolla, the "oldest" member of UEG. Gianfranco was indeed elected in 1989, at the
7th UEG Congress in Vienna and assumed since 1993 the presidency of the MTC, so for 20
years.
These honours continued with the transmission of power and the former and new members of the
UEG authorities could afterwards get together, share and exchange their experiences and
memories in a very friendly atmosphere; it was also the occasion to capture these moments in
pictures!

Events – Review
UEG Training Camps and Coaches’ Courses 2013
As every year, the UEG has organised summer Training Camps
for different disciplines; they are necessary for the development of
European gymnastics and have become, over the years, an
essential part of the UEG event calendar.
The objective is to create for some days and in a favourable
atmosphere a real and good cooperation between experts,
coaches and gymnasts and to favour the exchange of experience
between the different experts and participants.
You can find all information concerning the training camps and coaches courses in Aerobic
Gymnastics (AER) – Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) – Women’s Artistic Gymnastics
(WAG) – TeamGym (TG) and Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG) on the UEG website,
www.ueg.org., under the heading OTHER EVENTS and CAMPS by choosing the year
2013 or otherwise in the menu DISCIPLINES by clicking on the desired discipline and then
on the heading INFORMATION in the menu on the right side.
Note that this year the UEG WTC has innovated its online report by preparing a more
dynamic and interactive version offering a presentation with integrated photos and videos,
accessible via a link on the UEG website under the section dedicated to Women’s Artistic
Gymnastic and the Camps.

ECh ACRO – Odivelas/POR
While the 7th European Age Group Games
for gymnasts aged between 11 and 16
years and those between 12 and 18 years
took place from the 18th to the 20th of
October offering a superb and very
promising competition, the event continued
with the 10th Juniors and the 26th Seniors
European Acrobatic Championships from
October 23rd – 27th.
These competitions took place in the Portuguese city of Odivelas just outside Lisbon. The
Portuguese Gymnastics Federation once again proved its professionalism and efficiency
by organising a high quality event.
Several nations stood out during these Championships, in particular Russia who went
home with the highest medal number (30 in total including 16 gold medals), followed by
Great Britain that won 24 with 11 gold medals and Belarus that left with 16 medals
including 11 bronze ones. The other medal winning countries are: Portugal (8 medals),
Ukraine, Belgium, Poland and Bulgaria.
The next major rendez-vous for our European Gymnasts are the 24th Acrobatic World
Championships which will be held in July 2014 in Levallois / France and which will be
qualifying for the European Games 2015 in Baku before battling out again the European
titles at the next edition of the European Championships late 2015.
Tribute to Laurie Colton
During the closing ceremony of the European ACRO
Championships, the UEG ACRO Technical Committee had paid
tribute to the TC President who - with this event - put an end to
his career in the UEG and the ACRO family.
Indeed, it is in the utmost discretion that the UEG ACRO TC had
prepared a mini ceremony to thank President Laurie Colton right
before the closing ceremony of the Championships and in front of
an audience of gymnasts giving a standing ovation to a man who
spent a large part of of his life in the service of ACRO.
After a brief speech of the TC Vice-President, Carine Charlier, the attentive audience
enjoyed a slideshow with multiple pictures of Laurie Colton on the screen at the venue.
Laurie was then invited to step on the highest step of the podium and Carine, assisted by
the President of the Portuguese Gymnastics Federation and the LOC Director, presented
him a symbolic medal to honour his career.
Deeply touched, Laurie Colton took the floor and explained again that Acrobatic
Gymnastics is indeed a great discipline.

Summary
The Portuguese city of Odivelas, played host to the European Championships in Acrobatic
Gymnastics from 16th – 28th October 2013. A mixture of excellent organisation, hard work
and endeavour from the Portuguese Gymnastics Federation, the LOC, UEG ACRO TC,
invited expert judges and volunteers, all contributed to creating a Championship that can
be considered a huge success and will be used as an example for future events.
As is usual when a new Code of Points and Tables of Difficulty are introduced the
European Championships are the first major competition to test the new format. With a
greater emphasis on Artistry many of the partnerships had to find an extra dimension to
their exercises. Some were more successful than others.
Competition
20 Federations competed in this event, including some Federations that have benefited
from assistance provided by the ACRO TC /UEG, through the Training Camps, and
coaching courses. It was very rewarding to see the fruits of our endeavours revealed at
this competition. The Age Groups event was held over three days, in order to
accommodate an extended entry. Two days after the end of the Age Groups, the Senior
and Junior event was opened with some spectacular performances.
With the introduction of an additional age group the expansion of the overall number of
competitors was to be expected. The expectations were not disappointed and a record
number of athletes registered to take part in this competition.
Appeals and sanctions
One appeal was made, after careful consideration it was rejected. There were two
attempts to call into question the reason for a penalty, even though it was made clear at
the two pre-competition orientation meeting that only appeals against difficulty would be
allowed.
Medical treatments
Only one partnership was withdrawn due to an injury inflicted before arrival at the
competition. No doubt the Competition Doctor will report more fully. I will take this
opportunity to thank the physician for his help during the event.

Accommodation
Accommodation for the event was of a good standard there was a full range of
accommodation available and no complaints were received through the TC.
Food
Breakfast was provided in the designated hotels with lunch and dinner in the restaurant at
the competition venue. The range of foods was basic and including salads and vegetarian
dishes. In general the food was of a good standard and wholesome.
Transport
The airport transfers and transport between hotel and competition venue was in the first
few days problematic. This was improved once the organisers were aware of the
difficulties. The general response for the provision of bus and transfers were helpful and
cooperative. In the rare event of problems, the matter was quickly and efficiently resolved.
Social
The closing banquets were held in one of the official hotels, the provision was to a high
standard providing a range of foods suitable to meet most tastes. Transport arrangements
appeared to function without problems.
Result service
The result service was operated and provided by the Portuguese company, Scoringgym.
The service was excellent and new features over and above those provided in the past
were a substantial improvement. Where and when problems arose the technicians
responded quickly and professionally to resolve the matter.
Age groups
The quality of skill and application continues to improve and is proving an ideal
introduction to competition through a controlled and planned system. The floor routines
comprising of four compulsory elements and two from the FIG Tables of Difficulty, [with
restricted value] show improvement over the preceding event in Varna. There is room for
further improvement of Individual gymnastic elements a subject that coaches and
competitors will no doubt pay attention to in the coming years.
Results – Age Groups 11- 16 years
The Russians dominated this section by taking four of the five categories; only a 1st for the
British Mixed Pair prevented a clean sweep. In the remaining four Categories, GBR with
four silver, and 2 Bronze medals for POR, a podium 3rd place also for ISR, GER and BUL
completed the medal tally for the 11 – 16 group.
Results – Age Groups 12 – 18 years
There was a repeat of the 11 – 16 results with RUS taking the highest number of gold
medals, with a total in four from the five available categories. GBR with silver in the
remaining four categories, and Gold in the Men’s group prevented a clean sweep for the
strong RUS team. UKR, BEL and BLR were amongst the medal winners in this section.
Junior Championships
The junior competition was of a high standard with some very good exercises especially in
the mixed pairs. Composition in many of the exercises was of a high standard allowing
story lines and interaction with the accompanying music. The overall impression was a
pleasing and skilful performance by many of the gymnasts.

Results
RUS and GBR were in good form and were the main challenges in all categories. GBR
were to received 3 gold against the Russian 2 in the all-around competition. BLR, BEL and
POR took the medals in the remaining events.
In the individual events the pattern was to be repeated in the Dynamic exercise. UKR
came into the medal table with bronze in WG and Women’s Pair. BEL, POR and BLR took
the remaining medals Dynamic category.
The Individual Balance competition was to be a closer contest with BLR featuring strongly
with gold and two bronze medals. RUS and GBR continued their competitive battle with 2
gold each in this exciting and entertaining competition.
Senior Championships
The senior competition provided some excellent performances; the bar seems to go high
as each championship brings forth innovative balance elements and spectacular dynamic
elements. The team from RUS continue to provide strong competition in all the categories.
However, they were strongly challenged by GBR team. Both countries continued the
dominance at the senior level. POR, improving all the time, made steady progress with
bronze in mixed pairs All-Around, and the pair had further success with a Gold in individual
balance and bronze in individual dynamic. Poland’s Men’s group worked hard for a welldeserved bronze in the individual balance.

This was to be my last European Championships as President of the ACO TC UEG. I am
very grateful for the kind and generous remarks made on behalf of my involvement with
Acrobatic Gymnastics. It has been my pleasure and honour to have had the opportunity to
work with so many dedicated people as we have strived to achieve the credit that the
discipline deserves. I take with me many happy memories and look forward to seeing
ACRO in the European Games in Baku 2015.

The Aerobic European Championships were held in Arques in the north of France in a
beautiful and modern gymnastics complex, pooling all gymnastics disciplines in
infrastructures with very modern installations that have also served as training centre for
numerous athletes from different nations in preparation of the London Olympic Games
2012.
These Championships that were preceded by the test event of the two new disciplines
Aerobic Step and Aerobic Dance were a success in terms of the general organisation
thanks to the French Federation of Gymnastics who has worked hard to offer the
gymnasts the best possible conditions ensuring high quality competitions, its participation,
the performances and the media coverage of the event with the online Live Streaming of
the qualifications and the finals of the Championships.
9 Nations went home with a medal of these Championships and the top three medal
winners were Russia with 17 medals including 8 gold medals, followed by Romania with
11 medals including 5 gold ones and finally Italy with a total of 7 including 2 golden
medals.
The French delegation, with the advantage of being at home, won 5 medals including 1
gold medal at the very end of the competition; it was its men’s group that won the
European Title offering its home country the national anthem to round off these
Championships! The other medal winning countries are: Hungary, Spain, Ukraine and
Austria.
Note that these Championships were the first to serve as qualifying event for the European
Games which will take place in Baku/AZE in 2015. The concerned groups and mixed pairs
are the first nations of the Gymnastics Delegation that will be present at these Games in
Baku
