Le programme de French Language Arts 30-1 (FLA)
vise au développement de 4 habiletés langagières :

L’appréciation de l’apprentissage est également au coeur du programme.
Le cours exige une participation active des étudiants en français
et un engagement réel.

A. LES OBJECTIFS
 Permettre à l’étudiant(e) de se sentir à l’aise dans diverses situations de communication.
 Créer des situations de communication aussi réelles que possible en reliant les activités aux
expériences de l’étudiant(e).
 Augmenter les compétences langagières de l’étudiant(e).
 Continuer à développer les processus mentaux de l’étudiant tels que critiquer, évaluer, inférer,
etc.
 Encourager une appréciation des valeurs socioculturelles des francophones
 Encourager une intégration de la technologie dans l’apprentissage de la langue.
On vous recommande de lire régulièrement en français
pour mieux réussir en FLA 30 et à votre examen en vue de l’obtention du diplôme.

D. GRAMMAIRE ET SYNTAXE
La grammaire sera faite régulièrement ici et là, dépendant des genres de textes à l’étude.
Naturellement, les verbes seront revus, ainsi que d’autres notions comme les types de
phrase, l’accord et le participe passé. Selon les besoins, il sera possible également de
combler certaines lacunes.
En particulier – futur antérieur, plus-que-parfait, conditionnel passé, subjonctif présent et à la 3e
personne du passé simple, le choix de prépositions avec les verbes transitifs indirects, les deux
points, les points de suspension, les accords des noms, des adjectifs, des participes passés.

Late “L” (Red ‘L”) – this indicates that the assignment is has not been turned in on time. No
change to the course grade will result.
Exempt “EX” (Grey “EX”) – this is used for all items that are not to be included in that student’s
grade calculation. (see disclaimer) No change to the course grade will result.
Missing “M” (Tan “M”) – The student has missed an assessment but has the opportunity to
complete the required work. The work will be evaluated when submitted according to a timeline set
up in consultation between the student and the teacher. This code will calculate as a zero until the
code has been replaced with a numeric value.

Late Assignments and Missed Exams:
Assignment extensions and rescheduling of quizzes, tests, and exams are granted
only on excused absences.
Academic Honesty and Integrity:
A student cheating on a quiz, tests, or an exam will automatically receive a mark of
zero.
H. ELECTRONIC DEVICE (Please refer to STUDENT AGENDA)
All electronic devices (IPods, MP3 players, cell phones) must be turned off and put
away during tests, quizzes, or any work where notes are not allowed.
Teachers have the discretion of allowing or excluding these devices at any time during class.

Text-handling exercises on five written texts, based on the core.

Two compulsory writing exercises:

selected from a choice of five.
Section B: Response of 150–250 words to a stimulus text, based on the
core
Written assignment: Receptive and written productive skills
Creative writing of 500–600 words plus a 150–250 word rationale,
based on one or both of the literary texts read.

Individual oral (8–10 minutes)
