L’histoire de Cendrillon
Il était une fois une jeune fille qui s’appelait
Cendrillon. Elle habitait avec ses deux demi-sœurs
et sa belle-mère. Dans le même pays, il y avait un
prince. Il avait 19 ans, et il était célibataire. Il
voulait se marier.
There was once upon a time a young
girl named Cinderella. She lived with her two
step-sisters and her step-mother. In the same
country, there was a prince. He was 19, and he
was single. He wanted to get married.
Donc, il a décidé de préparer un grand bal
à son palais et d’inviter toutes les femmes de son
royaume. Les deux demi-sœurs et la belle-mère de
Cendrillon ont mis leurs robes élégantes, mais
quand Cendrillon a demandé si elle pouvait aller,
les mauvaises femmes ont dit que non.
So, he decided to organize a dance at
his palace and invite all the women in the
kingdom. Cinderella’s two step-sisters and
step-mother put on elegant dresses, but when
Cinderella asked if she could go, the evil
women said no.
Les trois femmes sont parties pour le bal.
Cendrillon pleurait quand, tout à coup, la pauvre
fille a vu une fée qui lui a demandé pourquoi elle
pleurait. Cendrillon lui a expliqué ses larmes.
The three women left for the dance.
Cinderalla was crying when, suddenly, the poor
girl saw a fairy who asked her why she was
crying. Cinderella explained her tears.
La fée a agité son bâton magique. Les
haillons de Cendrillon sont devenus une robe
superbe. Elle a regardé ses pieds. Elle portait des
souliers de verre ! Le seul problème était qu’elle
avait besoin de rentrer avant minuit ; autrement
elle risquait d’avoir de grands problèmes.
The fairy waved her magic wand.
Cinderella’s rags became a beautiful dress. She
looked at her feet. She was wearing glass
slippers! The only problem was that she
needed to get home before midnight; if not,
she was in danger of having big problems.
Elle est allée au bal, et elle a dansé avec le
prince pendant trois heures. À onze heures
quarante, elle a remarqué qu’il était presque
minuit ! Si elle ne voulait pas de problèmes, elle
avait besoin de partir immédiatement !
She went to the ball, and she danced
with the prince for three hours. At 11:40, she
noticed that it was almost midnight! If she
didn’t want any problems, she needed to leave
immediately!
Pendant qu’elle quittait le palais…

For this project, worth a test grade, your job is to finish the Cinderalla story.
Guidelines:











You can be creative and finish the story in whatever way you choose, as long as there is a
coherent storyline. Use at least 135 words.
Write in the past tense, using the imparfait and passé composé where appropriate.
Start with an outline of your story.
As you work, have all of your relevant notes and handouts in front of you.
You may not use automatic translators. (Honor Code)
You may use dictionaries, verb conjugation lists/books, and www.wordreference.com.
You may set your spell check to French on your word processor.
Include at least two illustrations to accompany your text. For this assignment, draw your own
illustrations—do not use someone else’s from the internet. Either scan your pictures and add
them to your electronic document or leave space on your document so you can paste the
pictures on it later.
Type, double space, and print your paper.
Staple this rubric behind the copy of your story.
