MENSA Photography Competition 2014
International Project 'Convergence' (IPC)

Rules of the Competition:
1. This competition is organized by the National Mensa of Canada as part of the International
Project Convergence.
2. The theme for 2014 is “Beauty”
3. There is no entry fee for the Competition. The entrant must be a financial member in good
standing of Mensa Canada for the duration of the competition.
4. Photos should be in JPG format not exceeding 1 MB. Entries in the national competition must
be sent by July 25, 2014.
5. Name, membership number and photography title should be included in the photo
information/label or in the text of an email.
6. The photos should be in .jpg format and sent to:

7. Each entrant may submit three images only.
8. Digital images should not have been significantly altered by digital editing.
9. All entries must be the sole work of the entrant.
10. Any promotion of pictures is not allowed.
11. The three best entries in the national competition will be selected by a locally organized
judging panel. Entries will be judged on the effectiveness of how they convey the theme, as well
as composition, technical and other considerations. The decision of the Judging Panel is final.
The national winner will win the title of Mensa Canada Photographer of the Year.
12. The three best entries in each national Mensa competition will be included in the Mensa
World Photo Cup competition run under the supervision of Mensa International. The closing date
for the Mensa World Photo Cup is August, 2014. The International winner (MIL Photographer of
the Year) will be selected by a professional judging panel which will include the Mensa
International Chairman ex-officio.
13. Winning photographs will become part of the 'Mensa IPC Collection' and will be exhibited at
the Annual Gatherings and otherwise publicized inside and outside Mensa.
14. Entrants will retain copyright of their photos, but will grant Mensa non-exclusive rights for
publication in Mensa journals, on Mensa web sites, on Photo SIG posters, for display in
exhibitions, or other appropriate places as part of the Mensa IPC Collection without any financial
reward to the contestant.
15. Contestants agree that their name and country may be published nationally and
internationally.
16. By submitting entries for the competition, the entrant accepts all the conditions listed above.

Règlements du concours
1. Ce concours est organisé par Mensa Canada pour participer au Projet international
Convergence (PIC).
2. Le thème de l’année 2014 est “Beauté”
3. L'inscription au concours est gratuite. Tout membre en règle de la société Mensa Canada
pendant la durée du concours est admissible.
4. Les photos devraient être en format JPG et ne pas dépasser 1 MB. Pour être éligibles à la
compétition nationale elles devront être envoyées au plus tard le 25 juillet 2014.
5. Les photos numériques devront être accompagnées du nom, du numéro de membre et du titre
de la photographie, soit dans le dossier de la photo, soit dans le texte du courriel qui
l’accompagne.
6. Vos photos, en format .jpg doivent parvenir à:

7. Chaque membre peut soumettre un maximum de 3 photographies seulement.
8. Les photos numériques ne devront pas avoir été retouchées de manière significative par des
moyens électroniques.
9. Les photos soumises doivent être l'œuvre exclusive du participant.
10. Aucune promotion des photos n’est permise auprès des juges.
11. Les trois meilleures œuvres du concours national seront sélectionnées par un jury local. Les
photos seront jugées selon leur capacité à illustrer le thème choisi, sur la composition, la
technique utilisée et autres considérations. La décision des juges est finale. Le gagnant national
portera le titre de “Photographe de l’année de Mensa Canada”.
12. Les trois meilleures oeuvres de chaque section nationale de Mensa seront incluses dans la
partie internationale de la compétition sous la supervision de Mensa International. Le concours se
termine en août 2014. Le gagnant international (Photographe de l’année de Mensa International)
sera choisi par un jury professionnel d'experts dont fera partie l’ex-président de Mensa
International.
13. Les photographies gagnantes enrichiront la collection « PIC » de Mensa et seront exposées
aux rencontres annuelles: elles pourront être publiées à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur de Mensa.
14. Le photographe conservera ses droits de propriété mais accordera à Mensa des droits nonexclusifs de publication à l'intérieur des moyens de communication habituels de la Société
Mensa, par exemple, les journaux, bulletins, sites Web, sites d'exposition ou tout autre endroit
approprié pour la collection PIC, sans contrepartie monétaire.
15. En présentant leurs photos au concours, les candidats acceptent que leur nom et pays
d’origine soient publiés aux niveaux national et international.
16. En soumettant leurs photos pour le concours les participants acceptent toutes les conditions
énumérées ci-dessus.
