d’Administration de notre
association

partiellement renouvelé. La
liste

membres
actualisée sera diffusée

Par ailleurs, notre
président a quitté ses
fonctions au terme d’un an
de travail de notre
association largement
approuvé par les parents.
C’est la raison pour laquelle
le nouveau C.A. a été
conduit à me confier la
responsabilité de la
présidence de notre
association.
Malgré ce changement,
notre
association
poursuivra ses objectifs,
définis au départ :
parachever, tout en les
améliorant, la mise en place
des structures au service
de nos enfants (transport,
cantine, périscolaire,
cafétéria etc.), faire
entendre la voix des
parents dans le débat en
cours concernant un futur

APEEE Annual General Meeting
The APEEE AGM, chaired by
Tomas Garcia-Azcarate, was held on
January 25 and attended by some 130
parents. The main topics covered and
decisions taken are summarised
below.
Pierre Allegrucci, the APEEE
President explained that as he had not
been re-elected class representative,
he could no longer serve as President
and as member of the Administrative
Board, in accordance with the
APEEE statutes. He was warmly
thanked by the members of the Board
and by parents for all his work and
commitment over the past 18 months.
The main problem facing the
APEEE during its first year was a
serious lack of funds. This delayed
the taking over of management of the
canteen from Uccle and the setting up
of Ixelles’ own transport system, the
extracurricular activities programme
and the cafeteria. Thanks to gifts and
loans from the Uccle and Woluwe
parents associations, things have now
gotten off the ground. It was stressed
that if all parents paid their annual
1500BF membership fee, the
association’s financial position would
be considerably stronger.
The cafeteria finally opened on
January 22 and has proved to be even
more successful than anticipated.
The next major task now awaiting the
canteen/cafeteria working group is
the launching in September 2001 and
running – jointly with the school
management, of Ixelles’ own
canteen. Many parents expressed
their hope that the change in
management of the canteen would
bring with it an improvement in the

Parents were very concerned to
learn of the high level of vandalism
in the school and the lack of publicspiritedness displayed by certain
pupils. The Board was mandated by
the AGM to work with the school on
ways of reversing this trend.
The Pedagogical Affairs group
has had a particularly intense year,
with members being involved in the
Conseil d’Education, Interparents, the
Ethos Committee, Drug Prevention,
helping to resolve teacher/parent
conflicts, liaising with the Conseil
Supérieur, formulating proposals on
the future of the European Schools
…. Interested parents were invited to
join a host of sub-groups working on
education issues.
The Financial Report for 2000
and the Budget for 2001 were
presented and approved.
A warm welcome was extended
to parents from the nursery section,
who joined the school in September
2001. Isabel Lourenço de Faria was
unanimously elected Nursery Section
Representative to the Administrative
Board, and Florence Berrisch her
substitute.

and Tanya Morton were also elected

Finally, I would like to leave you
with the words of a very wise man I
once knew. He said:
“Words are only air. It costs you
nothing to give praise but it makes
the others feel so good free of
charge. Words are only air but they
can break a man. Therefore be
careful how you use them.”
He also said:

without a representative to the Board.

Kent were elected as auditors.
The members of the Board – and
all other volunteers active in the
APEEE – were thanked and
applauded by the AGM for all the
energy they had put into launching
the parents association and for their
achievements over the past year.
The 4 resolutions put to the AGM
(concerning management of the
canteen, management of
extracurricular activities, category 3
pupils and the delaying of future
AGMs to January) were approved.
Warm thanks were extended to
the interpreters at the meeting and to
the APEEE secretary and the
translators who had worked so hard
to get the documents for the AGM
ready on time.
Thanks to some very efficient
chairing, the AGM completed its
business in record time, and the
meeting closed around 11 pm.

cotisation annuelle à l’APEEE
(1500FB/famille) la situation
financière de l’APEEE serait
considérablement améliorée.
La cafétéria a été inaugurée le
22 janvier et rencontre un succès
inespéré ! Le groupe de travail
cantine/cafétéria se trouve
maintenant face à l’énorme tâche
de mettre en place pour septembre
2001 et gérer – conjointement
avec la direction de l’école – la
cantine d’Ixelles.
Plusieurs
parents ont exprimé leur souhait
que le changement de gestion de
la cantine conduise à une
amélioration de la qualité des
repas ainsi qu’à des prix plus
modiques.
Les parents ont déploré le
niveau de vandalisme à l’école et
le manque de civisme de certains
élèves. L’AG a donné mandat au
CA de collaborer avec l’école dans
la recherche de moyens de
renverser cette tendance.
Le groupe de travail s’occupant
des Affaires Pédagogiques a vécu
une année particulèrement
intense.
Ses membres ont
collaboré au Conseil d’Education,
au comité ‘Ethos’, à Interparents, à
la prévention de drogues, ont aidé
à résoudre les conflits entre
professeurs et parents, ont fait du
lobbying auprès du Conseil
Supérieur, ont fait des propositions
sur l’avenir des écoles
européennes…….
Tout parent
intéressé par ces questions d’ordre
pédagogique est invité à se joindre
à un des sous-groupes de travail.
Le rapport financier pour 2000
et le Budget pour 2001 ont été
présentés et approuvés.
Environ 130 parents ont assisté
à l’Assemblée Générale de
l’APEEE qui a eu lieu le 25 janvier
sous la présidence de Tomas
Garcia-Azcarate. Les principaux
sujets de discussion et les
principales décisions prises sont
résumés ci-après.

«Why teach Christianity in our schools?» is the
title of the talk to be given (in English) by Derek
James from the UK at the annual General Meeting
of the Protestant Parents' Association, to be held on
Monday March 12th, 8 p.m., at the German Church,
Avenue Salome 7 , Woluwe St-Pierre. At a time
when the value of teaching religion and ethics is
being questioned, we invite all who are interested to
come and think about these issues with us.

Le problème principal auquel
l’APEEE a dû faire face pendant sa
première année d’existence fut un
manque sérieux de fonds. Ce
problème a retardé la reprise de la
gestion de la Cantine
(actuellement gérée par Uccle), la
mise en place d’un système de
transport scolaire propre à Ixelles,
le lancement d’un programme
d’activités périscolaires et
l’ouverture de la cafétéria. Grâce à
des dons et prêts de la part des
APEEE d’Uccle et de Woluwe, un

de la section maternelle, qui ont
rejoint l’école en septembre 2000.

Les membres du CA – ainsi
que tous les autres parents
volontaires actifs au sein de
l’APEEE – ont été remerciés et
félicités par l’AG pour toutes les
énergies qu’ils ont investies dans
la mise en place de l’APEEE et
pour toutes les réalisations de
l’année écoulée.
Les 4 résolutions soumises à
l’AG (concernant la gestion de la
cantine, la gestion des activités
périscolaires, les élèves de
catégorie 3 et le report
systématique de l’AG au mois de
janvier) ont été approuvées.
Les interprètes qui ont prêté
leurs services lors de l’AG, ainsi
que la secrétaire de l’APEEE et les
traducteurs qui ont dû tant
travailler pour que les documents
pour l’AG soient prêts à temps, ont
été chaleureusement remerciés.
Grâce à une présidence très
efficace, l’AG a traité tous les
points de l’agenda dans un temps
record, et la réunion s’est terminée
vers 23h.
