A few words about myself
I have been in love with the French language for as long as I can remember. After obtaining a College
Diploma in Arts and Literature, I registered for a French Writing Certificate, then took a few courses in
Communications Studies. But my thirst for knowledge quickly got the better of me: I wanted to learn more
and fast! So, with this objective in mind, I bid farewell to university studies and quickly immersed myself in the
written word—dictionaries, grammar books, glossaries and reference books―to complete my training on my
own. My eye for detail, my critical mind and my inquisitive nature drive me to question words and their
meaning―or lack of meaning! With me, the right word always finds its place. No mistake about it!

Proofreading

Reading proofs of an edited manuscript in layout to ensure that these match the mock-up, correct minor
mistakes, indicate major ones, and point out inconsistences. Apply author’s modifications or exercise
discretion on author’s alterations, as the case may be, ensure accuracy of running heads and folios, verify line
and page breaks, as well as page numbers in the tables of contents and cross-references, or add them in as
required, indicate where colour should be applied and colour percentage, and validate or flag location of art.
In some cases, check blueprints and other types of proofs, as well as film.
Writing new copy or rewriting .........................................................................according to mandate
Write new copy or certain parts of existing copy in line with campaign guidelines, based on a previous version
that requires updating or using reference material supplied by the client that needs to be synthesized.
Translation, adaptation and creative writing ........................................... according to mandate
Translate a document from English to French or from French to English (a turnkey service provided in
cooperation with other translators), adapt the style of a text, adjusting vocabulary to make it appropriate for
the intended audience or for target markets (Francophone or Anglophone), create advertising hooks and
compelling calls to action, etc.
Production coordination ..................................................................................... according to mandate
Coordinate, supervise or carry out the following activities: creative writing, adaptation or translation, copy
editing, typesetting, graphic design, layout and proofreading. Ensure that the print project’s text and design
elements are appropriately incorporated. In some cases, obtain technical specifications and printing proposals.
This service may also include page layout, proofreading, checking blueprints and other types of proofs, as well
as film.
