THIRD ANNUAL CHEESE AND WINE

Monday and Tuesday, April 18 and 19, 2005, 7pm

For something completely different, this year we will meet chez les amis du Fromage for an
intimate tasting limited to 20 of us each of the two evenings. We will be pouring a Chateauneuf
du Pape from our cellar, two whites from Alsace and the Loire and a dessert wine.
Alice is the Past President of the Vancouver chapter of the International Wine and Food Society,
a Cordon Bleu graduate, and a much sought-after cheese educator. Her daughter Allison learned
to enjoy good food and wine growing up and has worked with Alice since 1985. Allison is the
secretary of Les Dames d’Escoffier and both are about to be inducted into the Guild Fromager de
France.
You can look forward to a substantial array of cheeses, from both France and British Columbia,
as well as a highly educational and entertaining evening as les Dames Spurrell share their wealth
of knowledge on fine cheeses and cheese making.
There will also be an opportunity to make purchases from the store at the end of the evening at a
10% discount.
Alice has asked us to point out that the quantity of cheese to be sampled is quite substantial and
that therefore we do not recommend eating a meal immediately prior to the event.
We also want to alert members to our next event, a tasting in early May at the Terminal City Club
with special guest Albert Givton. Attendance will be limited so watch for the invitation.
