Dodeigne is best known for his monumental stone figures usually placed in open spaces. He moved steadily toward to use eroded curves and complete abstractions in the local Soignies blue limestone.
But he had also courses of modelling and drawing.
He found his inspiration in the human figure, since the early 1960ies ( pencil ) and in dancers since the mid 1990ies (charcoal ).
Drawings from the early '60 are rare and belong mostly to museums like the collection of the MoMA, the Goldschmith Collection in the Royal Museums of Fine Art in Brussels. In "Nu couché" ( 1961) A.M.HAMMACHER writes" le petit nu , à peine ébauché dans l'ensemble et par ailleurs travaillé avec
grande attention pour certaines parties, laisse le crayon définir les contrastes entre les ombres, fondamentales pour sa structure, et les surfaces mangées par la lumière. Il s'en dégage à la fois puissance et fragilité. Il y a une sorte de tendresse, de respect recueilli devant le
modèle" ( A.M.HAMMACHER, Dodeigne, Tielt, 1981).
