Travel and Living for Familiarization Instruction/Training for
Optional Quantity Trucks (Option)
On page 29 of 30, the first sentence reads “All travel and living
expenses incurred in the performance of the work outside Canada
will be the Contractor’s responsibility.”

At Annex “A” - Pricing, Item 005:

Outside Canada, it is impossible to put a cost figure on these items.
Should the word “outside” be removed or the sentence be
rephrased or removed?

ANNEX “B” – PURCHASE DESCRIPTION
ITEM 3.11 (c) (page 6)
The tires shall (E) be Michelin 395/85 R20 XML;
Question:
Michelin identifies the maximum speed for the specified tires at 55
MPH. The Configuration Capability Table lists the vehicle speed
“At least 105 km/h (65 mph)” and vehicle gradeability “1.2% at 90
km/h (56 mph)”. To meet the tire specifications as per 3.11 (c)
above, the vehicle maximum speed would be set at 55 MPH.

A2.
Purchase Description is amended to request dual rear wheels in lieu of the single
rear wheels. The 105 km/h (65 mph) should be achievable.
At Annex “B” - Purchase Description - Class 7 Mid-Range Diesel Truck Complete
with a 3.6 M (12 feet) Dropside Body and a Crane dated 18 November 2014,
Paragraph 3.11 Wheels and Tires:

Paragraph 3.11 in its entirety.

3.11 Wheels and Tires- The following applies:
(a) The vehicle shall be equipped with dual wheels and tires
at the rear;
(b) The tires shall be tubeless radial tires mounted on hub
pilot disc wheels that are balanced to preclude wheel
shimmy at all vehicle speeds;
(c) The tires and rims shall have sufficient load capacity for a
vehicle loaded to rated capacity (GVWR);
(d) The tires shall(E) be mud and snow for off road capability
(Note operating conditions paragraph 3.2); and
(e) A spare tire and wheel assembly and a spare tire carrier
shall be provided.
Q3.
We applied for Special Engineering approval concerning two (2) individual vehicle
specifications with regards to Solicitation W8476-145088/B.
The first item concerns 3.11 Wheels and Tires. We have been notified of the
following situation;
“Wheel has been blocked because of wheel end components temporarily not
available. The wheel supplier is now requiring a minimum tire buy of 150 wheels.”
This specification applies specifically to the Michelin 395/85R20 XML and single
tires.
To resolve this situation, we would be required to specify the vehicle with single
wheels on the front axle and dual wheels on the rear axle. Both front and rear tires
in this situation would be the same Manufacturer and size. The specified tire size in
this case would in all probability be a 12R22.5.

Q4.
The second item concerns the Configuration Capability Tables and specifically,
Min. Fuel Reservoir of 265 Litres (70 US Gallons). With this situation, the
following notification was received;
Only 50 Gallon fuel is available with crew cab and 4x4 due to interference of
exhaust piping, right side fuel tank and T-case mounting.
To resolve this situation, we would be required to specify the vehicle with a
maximum fuel capacity of 50 US Gallons.

The truck will be operated in some remote areas and maintaining the fuel tank
capacity is required.
Q5.
We cannot quote this tender because of the single rear wheels and tires. Would
the normal dual rear wheels and tires be acceptable?
