LOST AND DELIRIOUS
Mary Bradford ist die Neue am Perkins Girl’s College, einem Internat für
Mädchen. Sie kommt aus einer Kleinstadt, wo sie mit ihrem Vater und ihrer
Stiefmutter gelebt hatte. Die beiden älteren Mädchen, mit denen sich
„Mouse“ ein Zimmer teilt, nehmen sie unter ihre Fittiche. Die eigenwillige
Paulie ist scharfsinnig und intelligent, Tory bildschön und charmant. Mouse
kann den Tod ihrer Mutter nur schwer verschmerzen, Paulie wurde von
ihren Eltern zur Adoption freigegeben und Tory kämpft damit, die Erwartungen, die ihre Eltern in sie gesetzt haben, zu erfüllen. Obwohl die beiden
zu den besten Freundinnen werden, die Mouse je gehabt hat, verwirrt sie
die Intensität der Beziehung, die Paulie und Tory zueinander haben.
Als Paulie und Tory in einer kompromittierenden Situation erwischt werden, bricht die Hölle los. Tory kann sich ihren Eltern gegenüber nicht rechtfertigen, gibt dem Druck nach und distanziert sich von Paulie – und ihren
eigenen Gefühlen. Paulie will sich nicht so einfach unterkriegen lassen und
setzt alles daran, Tory nicht zu verlieren. Mouse ist zwischen ihren beiden
Freundinnen hin und her gerissen.
Doch Paulie, die an der Situation sehr zu knacken hat, beginnt abzudrehen.
Zu einem Falken, den sie gerettet hat, glaubt sie eine geheimnisvolle Verbindung zu haben. Als Tory sich auf einen Jungen einlässt, nur um zu beweisen, dass sie „normal“ sei, rastet Paulie aus und fordert den Jungen zu einem
Duell heraus . . .

Mary Bradford is the new girl at a boarding school called Perkins Girls’ College. Mary comes from a small town where she has been living with her
father and her step-mother.The two girls who share a room with “Mouse”as
she is known, take the newcomer under their wing. Paulie is striking and
sharp-witted, whilst Tory is exquisitely attractive and charming. Mouse has
not really got over her mother’s death; Paulie’s parents put her up for adoption and Tory, it seems, has a hard time trying to live up to her parents
expectations.

Although these two girls soon become the best friends that Mouse has
ever had, she nevertheless finds the intense relationship between Paulie
and Tory somewhat overpowering and not a little disconcerting.
One day, Paulie and Tory are caught in a compromising situation and all hell
breaks loose. Finding it impossible to justify her actions to her parents, Tory
simply gives in to them and distances herself from Paulie – and her own
feelings. Paulie, however, refuses to take things lying down and decides to
fight for Tory. Meanwhile, Mouse finds herself torn between her two friends.
However, the situation also gives Paulie plenty to think about and clouds
her mind. She saves a falcon and starts to believe that there is a mysterious
bond between her and the bird. And then, when Tory gets involved with a
boy who is in love with her, simply to prove that she is ‘normal’, a furious
Paulie challenges the boy to a duel . . .

short films and videos she began making
episodes for television series as well as television documentaries.She made her first
feature film,LA FEMME DE L’HOTEL,in 1984.
Her 1986 film,ANNE TRISTER,was an international success.LOST AND DELIRIOUS is
her first English-language production.

Mary Bradford est nouvelle au Perkins Girl’s College, un internat pour jeunes
filles. Elle vient d’une petite ville de province où elle vivait avec son père et
sa belle-mère. « Mouse » partage la chambre de deux autres internes plus
âgées qu’elle qui la prennent sous leur aile. Paulie est une fille volontaire,
intelligente et subtile, Tory est ravissante et pleine de charme. Mouse n’arrive pas à se consoler du décès de sa mère, les parents de Paulie l’ont abandonnée à une famille adoptive et Tory s’efforce de satisfaire aux espoirs que
fondent ses parents.
Bien que les deux adolescentes soient les meilleures amies que Mouse ait
jamais eues, elle est un peu troublée par l’intensité de leurs rapports
mutuels.
Le jour où Paulie et Tory sont découvertes dans une situation compromettante, c’est l’enfer. Incapable de justifier son attitude vis-à-vis de ses parents,
Tory cède à leurs pressions et se détourne de Paulie – tout en reniant ses
propres sentiments. Paulie refuse de se laisser abattre et elle fait tout pour
reconquérir Tory. Mouse est tiraillée entre ses deux amies.
Paulie est toutefois très affectée par la tournure que prennent les événements et elle perd le sens des réalités. Elle croit ainsi être en relation secrète avec un faucon qu’elle a autrefois sauvé. Lorsque Tory s’entiche d’un garçon qui est amoureux d’elle, uniquement pour prouver qu’elle est « normale », Paulie perd tout contrôle de soi et elle provoque son rival en duel . . .
Biographie
Né a Genève le 8-9-1950.Emigre au Québec en 1975.Etudie les sciences de la communication à l’université de Montréal.Réalise des courts métrages et des vidéos,puis
travaille à des séries et à des documentaires
pour la télévision au début des années 80.
TOURNE EN 1984 son premier long métrage,LA FEMME DE L’HOTEL.En 1986,ANNE
TRISTER remporte un succès international.
LOST AND DELIRIOUS est son premier film
tourné en anglais.
