« (…), songeant au train qui s’éloignait. Elle s’assit sur le
lit, moelleux comme il fallait, étira ses membres ankylosés
par le voyage et posa sa tête sur un oreiller trop fleuri.
Les draps, pourtant fins, lui collaient à la peau.
Elle imagina les heures, les jours qui l’attendaient, et
s’assoupit sans s’en rendre compte. Les dernières lueurs
du soleil la réveillèrent, éclairant le mur aux tons pastel.
“ Je suis la fille au papier peint ’’, pensa-t-elle.
Elle posa une main sur le mur, les doigts bien à plat,
cherchant la fraîcheur. »
“(…), her thoughts lost with the train that was long gone.
She sat on the bed, which felt just soft enough, stretched
out her stiffened limbs and rested her head on the overly
flowery pillow.
The sheets, though rather delicate, stuck to her skin.
She imagined the hours, the days ahead of her, and
without realizing it, fell asleep. The last beams of sunlight
woke her up, bringing out the pastel tones of the wall.
“I’m the wallpaper girl”, she thought. She flattened her
hand against it, her fingers slightly apart, hoping to cool
