Win a week in England!
You still don’t know what to do this summer? Well here’s your chance to win a one-week
language course in Kent, England! Free4Fun and ETC (English Travel Connections) are
giving away two trips to Rochester. This historic city is less than an hour’s drive from
London and close to the sea resort of Herne Bay. It is also the home of one of England’s
most famous writers, Charles Dickens.
The town of Rochester is in Southeast England. Charles Dickens often wrote about it in
his books. His home, Gad's Hill, is there, too. A popular attraction is Rochester Castle, a
large Norman fortress. It was built in the 11th century and rebuilt during the 14th
century. Other attractions are Rochester Cathedral, which was built during the 13th
century, and Dickens Centre. It has got its name in honour of 1 Dickens himself.

ADVICE COLUMN
Choose one letter from the advice column and answer it.
You should write about 100 words. Count them.
Looking for youth hostels
I enjoyed a trip to Germany
very much. I stayed at a
youth hostel by Lake Muritz
called Muritz 21 together with
five mates. Not only were the
very modern buildings great,
the activities you could do
there never bored you. I
bought a youth hostel
membership card and now I
am looking for some other
interesting places.
Can you give me some
advice?
Ben, 14
My best friend ignores me
I was away from school for
one week because I was ill.
When I got back my best
friend ignored me. She has
even moved to a different
table for one of the lessons.
She spends all of the break
time talking and laughing with
other girls that I don’t like.
When I go to them they start
whispering and giggling.
What can I do?
Jodie, 13
18 BE
A home for a pet
I’ ve been wanting a pet for
years but my parents said no.
Then last summer I was in an
accident. I hurt my foot badly
and couldn’t walk for weeks.
It was very boring. In the end,
my parents promised to buy a
pet for me. But I can’t decide
whether I would like a little
dog, a hamster or a rabbit.
Do you have some
experience? What do I need
before I get that pet from
the pet shop?
Elisa, 13
