Expense loading pursuant to § 46 a, Vienna Hospital Law
and
Expense loading pursuant to § 447f (7), General Social Security Insurance Law
Due to federal requirements, our institution is obligated to charge a hospital co-payment for inpatient
admission at the Standard Class level.
The amount of this hospital co-payment is determined by the fact whether your health insurance provider
covers the entire cost of the hospital stay, i.e. without a patient deductible.
Such patients` co-payments are a contribution toward the expenditures of the hospital and do not
represent a payment for meals.
Both the day of admission and the day of discharge shall be considered a full hospital day, regardless of
the number of hours a patient spends at the institution on these days.
Co-payments shall be charged for a maximum of 28 days in one calendar year per patient.
Expense loading pursuant to § 46 a, Vienna Hospital Law:
Should your health insurance not include a deductible, the expense loading per day of hospital care,
pursuant to § 46 a, Vienna Hospital Law, will be € 11.81 in 2016.
This fee is composed as follows:
€ 9.56 to be charged as a co-payment to the hospital,
€ 1.45 to be retained for the Vienna Health Fund,
€ 0.73 to be charged on behalf of the Patient Advocate Office for compensation after damages incurred
as a consequence of hospital treatment in cases when the fault of the institution cannot be clearly
proved.
Patients are excluded from this payment obligation in the following cases:
• for whom a contribution rate in accordance with federal legal provisions is already being paid
• admission for the purpose of an organ donation
• exemption from the Austrian Prescription Fee
• special social protection status, which will be assessed on the basis of the family income and asset
situation as well as the type and duration of the illness
