Introduction
The 8841 is a plug-in module that allows an alarm system
control unit to communicate with both fixed and mobile destinations over the mobile phone network. In addition the 8841
allows the system to send SMS (Short Message Service) messages.
The module and its antenna must be fitted within the body
of the control unit, which has sockets for that purpose. This
manual provides brief instructions on fitting the 8841. To program the 8841 please see the relevant Installation and Programming Guide for the control unit.

7500r. Hiermee kan dit controlepaneel, zowel handmatig als
automatisch, via een draadloos telefoonnetwerk communiceren met vaste en mobiele telefoontoestellen. Bovendien kunnen tekstberichten (SMS) worden verzonden en ontvangen.
Voor de handmatige bediening biedt het toetsenbord op het

standaard aanwezig. Deze handleiding biedt een korte toelichting op de eenvoudige montage. Voor het programmeren
van de module verwijzen wij naar de handleiding voor installatie en programmering van de controlepaneel.
Le transmetteur GSM 8841 est un module enfichable sur
certaines centrales d’alarme. Il permet de secourir le transmetteur interne vocal/digital et d’envoyer des SMS (Short
message service ; Service de messages courts) en utilisant le
réseau GSM.
Le module et son antenne doivent être insérés à l’intérieur
de la centrale, qui est équipée de broches à cet effet. Ce
manuel donne les instructions d’insertion du 8841 sur la centrale. Pour programmer la centrale afin qu’elle utilise le 8841,
veuillez consulter le « Guide d’installation et de programmation» pour la centrale.
Installation
Note: If you are adding the 8841 to a control unit that
has already been installed then first make sure
that the system is completely unset and in installer
programming mode. (This is to prevent the control
unit raising un-necessary tamper alarms when you
open the case.)
1. Undo the two screws at the bottom of the case and
ease the case body from the wall plate.
Caution! Disconnect the ribbon cable from the wall plate before opening the case completely, see Figure 1.
2. Undo all four screws holding the body of control unit
together. See Figure 2.

3. Disconnect the speaker and battery connectors.
4. Partially lift the back of the case up and disconnect the
siren lead before completely removing the back of the
case. Figure 3 shows the layout of the main printed
circuit board (PCB).
5. Unpack the 8841 and its antenna. Connect the antenna
cable to the antenna input socket on the 8841 (see
Figure 4).
6. Take the SIM card for the provider you intend to use
and make sure that the security code is either disabled
or set to “0000”.

7. Slide the SIM card into the holder. Make sure the
missing corner on the card is at the bottom right.
8. Fit the 8841 module to the sockets on the control unit
PCB (see Figure 5).
9. Feed the antenna cable through the notch at the top of
the control unit PCB and around the top and side of the
tag reader. Gently trap the cable between the PCB and
wall of the case.

10. Remove the backing paper on the glued side of the
antenna. Fix the antenna inside the case as shown in
Figure 5. Note that the adhesive on the antenna is fast
acting. You will not be able to reposition the antenna
once you have put it in place.

11. Present the back of the case to the case front and reconnect the siren, battery and speaker. See Figure 3.

12. Seat the back of the case into the case front, making
sure that you do not crush the GSM module antenna.
Refit all four screws holding the case together. See
Figure 2.
13. Present the case to the wall plate and re-connect the
ribbon cable, see Figure 6.
14. Fit the case to the wall plate and refit the securing
screws.

Apply power to the control unit.
Enter the User programming menu.
Select System Config – About Comms.
The display shows:
IMEI number for the GSM module. You should note this
number down as you will need to provide it when you
register your SIM card with certain service providers.
Signal level. If the level is low you may need to

Hiermee voorkomt u dat u een onnodig
sabotagealarm veroorzaakt als u de behuizing van

1. Maak de twee delen van de behuizing los door de twee
schroeven aan de onderkant van de behuizing los te
draaien.
2. Neem het paneel voorzichtig van de
wandmontageplaat. Het paneel scharniert aan de
bovenkant.
PAS OP! Maak eerst de flat cable los voordat u het paneel
helemaal afneemt. (Zie Afb. 1.)
3. Draai de vier schroeven van de behuizing los. (Zie Afb.
2.)
4. Maak de aansluiting van de batterijen en de luidspreker
los. (Zie Afb. 2.)
5. Licht de achterkant van de behuizing gedeeltelijk op
en maak de aansluiting van de sirene los voordat u de
behuizing helemaal van elkaar neemt.
6. Neem de 8841r en antenne uit de verpakking en sluit
de antennekabel aan op de 8841r. (Zie Afb. 4.)
7. Zorg er voor dat op de SIM kaart welke u gaat
gebruiken de Pincode is uitgeschakeld of is ingesteld
op 0000.
8. Plaats de SIM-kaart van de provider. Let er op dat de
schuine kant van de kaart rechtsbeneden is.
Opm.: Als u de houder niet goed op zijn plaats kunt
drukken is waarschijnlijk de SIM-kaart niet in de
juiste positie geplaatst.
9. Plaats de module op de aansluitingen van het
controlepaneel. (Zie Afb. 5.)
10. Leidt de antenne door de uitsparing in de bovenrand
van het moederbord, om de taglezer heen en druk de
kabel voorzichtig vast tussen het moederbord en de
zijkant van de behuizing.
11. Verwijder de afdeklaag van de zelfklevende zijde van
de antenne. Plaats de antenne in de behuizing zoals
aangegeven in afb. 6. Let op: De zelfklevende laag is
sterk klevend. Als de antenne eenmaal vast zit kunt u
hem niet meer verplaatsen.
12. Sluit de sirene weer aan, leidt de flat-cable door de
doorvoering en plaats de twee delen van de behuizing
op elkaar. (Zie Afb. 3.)
13. Schroef de twee delen vast - let op dat de
antennekabel niet bekneld raakt - en sluit de batterijen
en de luidspreker aan. (Zie Afb. 2.)
14. Haak het controlepaneel in de bovenkant van de
wandmontageplaat en sluit de flat-cable weer aan. (Zie
Afb. 6.)
15. Monteer het controlepaneel op de wandmontageplaat
met de twee schroeven.
Installation
Note : Si vous ajoutez le 8841 à une centrale qui a déjà
été installée, assurez-vous d’abord que le système
est entièrement désactivé et qu’il est en mode
programmation installateur. (Cela permet d’éviter
que la centrale ne déclenche inutilement des
alarmes lorsque vous ouvrirez le boîtier.)
1. Dévissez les deux vis situées au bas du boîtier.
2. Sortez le corps du boîtier de la plaque murale.
Attention ! Débranchez le câble plat de la plaque murale
avant d’ouvrir entièrement le boîtier, voir Illustration 1.
3. Dévissez les quatre vis en maintenant fermé le corps
de l’unité de commande. Voir Illustration 2.
4. Débranchez les connecteurs du haut-parleur et des
piles.
5. Levez en partie l’arrière du boîtier et débranchez le
connecteur de la sirène avant de totalement retirer
l’arrière du boîtier. L’illustration 3 montre la disposition
de la principale carte de circuits imprimés (PCB).
6. Déballez le 8841 et son antenne. Branchez le câble de
l’antenne à la broche d’entrée de l’antenne du 8841
(voir illustration 4).
7. Prendre la carte SIM de l’opérateur que vous voulez
utiliser et assurez-vous que le code PIN soit désactivé
ou programmé sur “0000”.
8. Placez la carte SIM.
Assurez-vous que le coin coupé de la carte se trouve
en bas à droite (voir illustration 4).
Si le support ne se bloque pas, vérifiez que la carte
SIM a été correctement insérée.
9. Positionnez le module 8841 sur les broches de la
centrale.
10. Passer le câble de l’antenne au dessus et autour du
lecteur de badge. Coincez légèrement le câble entre le
circuit et la parois du boîtier.
11. Retirez le papier protecteur du côté encollé de
l’antenne. Placez l’antenne dans le boîtier comme
le montre l’illustration 5. Notez bien que l’adhésif
de l’antenne agit rapidement. Vous n’aurez pas la
possibilité de changer la position de l’antenne une fois
celle-ci mise en place.
12. Placez l’arrière du boîtier contre le la face avant et
rebranchez la sirène, les piles et le haut-parleur. Voir
Illustration 3.
13. Ajuster l’arrière du boîtier contre la face avant en vous
assurant de ne pas écraser l’antenne du module GSM.
Replacez les quatre vis en maintenant le boîtier fermé.

14. Placez le boîtier sur la plaque murale et rebranchez le
câble plat, voir illustration 6.
15. Placez le boîtier sur la plaque murale et revissez les vis
de sécurité.
Programmation
Vérification du bon fonctionnement du module GSM
Alimentez en électricité la centrale.
Entrez dans le menu de programmation de l’utilisateur.

reposition the control unit, or seek another service
provider.
GSM Number. (This may not appear if you are using
Vodafone as a service provider.) Note this number
down so that you can supply it when registering your
SIM card.
Registering Your SIM Card
Once you have fitted the GSM module and its SIM card, you
must register the SIM card with the service provider. To do
this you must make a telephone call from the control unit via
the newly installed GSM module.
Enter the User programming menu and select Telephone Call
– GSM.
Dial the appropriate telephone number for registering the SIM
card as shown in the instruction leaflets for the card. (See
below.)
Note that the control unit cannot support the text message
response service calls using the * and # keys. You must call
the service provider manually and either register with a human operator, or navigate an automated answering service.
Once the phone call is established you can use the * and #
keys as you would on a normal phone.
The exact details of registering your SIM card differ for each
provider. The following sections show hints for the main providers.
O2
Note that 02 print the SIM serial number and the GSM telephone number on the packing for the SIM card.
To register an 02 SIM dial 248 and follow the instructions
given by the automatic answering service.
T-Mobile
T-Mobile print the GSM telephone number, PIN number and
PUK (unlock number) on the sheet carrying the SIM card and
top up card.
To register a T-Mobile SIM dial 150 and follow the instructions
given by the automatic answering service.
If you have several mobile phones fix the sticky label provided showing the GSM number to the top up card.
Orange
Make sure you have the GSM module’s IMEI number to hand.
You will also need the SIM card serial number, it is printed on
the SIM card.
You will need to provide a password and four digit code to
identify yourself in the future. Chose them before making the
call and write them down in the booklet.
To register an Orange SIM dial 0800 079 0006. A human operator will reply.
While registering your SIM, the operator will provide you with
your GSM number. Make sure you note this number on the
top up card.
Vodafone
To register a Vodafone SIM dial 2345 and follow the instructions given by the automatic answering service. During the
instructions you will be given your GSM number. Make sure
that you note this number down on the back of the top up
card.
Top Up Cards
Each of the service providers listed in the previous instructions supply top up cards with their SIMs. Part of the registration procedure is to link the top up card with the SIM. The
cards contain just enough credit to allow you to make the
registration call. Once you have finished this process you will
need to supply more credit to the top up card. You should do
this immediately.
While registering, make sure that you write the phone
number of the GSM module down on the top up card.

Kies Selecteer. Op het display ziet u:
IMEI nummer voor de GSM module.
Noteer dit nummer want u hebt het nodig als u de

Signaalsterkte.
Bij een zwak signaal kan het nodig zijn om het
controlepaneel te verplaatsen, of kies een andere
provider.
GSM nummer.
(Dit nummer ziet u niet als u Vodafone als provider
hebt gekozen.) Noteer dit nummer want u hebt het
nodig als u de SIM-kaart door een provider wil laten
registreren.
Registeer uw SIM-kaart
Nadat u de GSM module met SIM-kaart hebt gemonteerd
moet u de SIM-kaart bij een GSM netwerk aanmelden. Hiertoe belt u vanaf het controlepaneel via de GSM module.
Open het gebruikersmenu en kies Telefoonoproep - GSM.
Toets het telefoonnummer dat daarvoor staat aangegeven op
de bijsluiter van de SIM-kaart.
Bedenk dat de telefoonverbinding niet geschikt is voor antwoorddiensten die gebruikmaken van de ‘*’ en ‘#’ toetsen.
U dient de provider handmatig te bellen. Het aanmelden kan
via een persoonlijk telefooncontact of via een automatische
antwoorddienst.
Als de SIM-kaart is geregistreerd kunt u voortaan bij een
telefoonverbinding de ‘*’ en ‘#’ toetsen gebruiken als bij een
normaal telefoontoestel.
De exacte wijze van het aanmelden van uw SIM-kaart kan
per provider verschillen.

ce numéro car il vous sera demandé par certains

Enregistrement de votre carte SIM
Une fois le module GSM et sa carte SIM installés, il vous faut
enregistrer la carte SIM auprès du fournisseur de services.
Pour cela, passez un appel téléphonique de la centrale par
l’intermédiaire du module GSM que vous venez d’installer.
Entrez dans le menu de programmation de l’utilisateur et
sélectionnez Appel téléphonique – GSM.
Composez le numéro de téléphone à appeler pour
l’enregistrement de la carte SIM, indiqué dans le livret
d’instructions de la carte. (Voir ci-dessous.)
Remarquez que la centrale n’accepte pas les appels de service
de réponse de messages textes utilisant les touches * et #.
Vous devez appeler manuellement le fournisseur de services
et vous enregistrer soit auprès d’un opérateur soit en naviguant dans un service de réponse automatisé. Une fois l’appel
téléphonique établi, vous pouvez utiliser les touches * et #
comme vous le feriez avec un téléphone conventionnel.
Les détails exacts concernant l’enregistrement de votre carte
SIM diffèrent d’un fournisseur à l’autre.
