“Le Cygne Noir” is a French translation of Jake’s “The Black Swan” and uses the identical arrangement and chords to
that song.
Em
For the first verse only (up to “lost it all”), I use first position chords, following which I use the inversions : I do it
this way to try and capture the very mellow “stringsy” sound on the full orchestral recording.
There is also a linking piece which the violins play after “now she’s gone”. A basic method to play this is to play
an open Em chord and while it’s sounding out play individual notes on the following frets :
1st string (top E)
2nd string (B)
3rd string (G)
4th string (D)
5th string (A)
6th string (bottom E)
12th / 7th
10th / 8th / 7th / 8th / 5th / open
2nd / open
4th / 5th / 2nd
2nd / open
3rd / 2nd / 3rd / open
and to finish, last time only, an open bottom E string followed by 12th fret harmonics on the 1st/2nd/3rd strings.
