Berlin 2014
Since the start of this 2012-2015
mandate, TCC has continued to maintain
its strong academic inclination, research
interest and professional role so as to
promote the regional and global
awareness and
development of translation and translation
studies in relation to culture and
communication. In the 2012-13 academic
year, TCC members have been involved in
the organisation of 8 regional/ national/

invited as MA/PhD examiners and
programme reviewers for subjects such as
translation/interpreting, translation and
culture, literary/media/intercultural
communication studies. Most TCC members
have also been doing translation
consultancy work, CI and SI for conferences
as well as translation for institutions,
companies and local/ international
organizations.
Apart from these academic and
organisational activities, some TCC members
have been active in work that promotes and
protects the rights of translators and
interpreters. For example, Marita Propato, a
TTC member from Argentina Association of
Translators and Interpreters (AATI) actively
in the awareness-raising

international conferences, seminars and workshops. Members such as Zhang Meifang and

projects concerning translation and culture studies and promote interdisciplinary studies in
translation, culture and communication.
As Chair of the FIT Translation and Culture
Communication within the
committee (email/skype/face-to-face Committee, I have maintained regular
contact and also enjoyed good cooperation
meetings)
with and great support from the majority of
the members. Communication within the
committee has been mainly through email
and sometimes face-to- face when the
opportunity arises. Although lack of financial
resources has been the main problem for all
members to meet face-to-face, TCC
members from HK and Macao (6 in all) have
had more opportunities to meet and share
views
and
ideas.
TCC has
been
working well on the whole but
General comments and
recommendations for future work
a couple of members have been less active
since the start of this mandate.
