HUPX on track to start operations as planned
HUPX Ltd, in cooperation with its partners EPEX Spot SE and European Commodity Clearing AG
(ECC), is on track to start the operations of the Hungarian day-ahead power market as planned in
July 2010. HUPX Ltd is the sole licensed company to operate an organised power market in
Hungary.
The targeted date for HUPX go-live remains the 1st of July, subject to the necessary administrative
and regulatory approvals and trading platform simulation results.
HUPX members have received their membership package as well as a draft of the Market Rules,
which are currently being reviewed by the Hungarian Energy Office for their approval.
The deployment of the EPEX Trading System, which will be used by HUPX too, will start in May for
HUPX members. HUPX members will be invited to participate in the simulation sessions which will
allow them to be trained on the new systems and get familiar with its functionalities. This new
system is also being implemented right now by EPEX Spot for its own French, German, Austrian and
Swiss market areas.
European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC), which provides clearing and settlement not only for all EPEX
Spot markets but also for a number of other energy exchanges, will ensure the fulfilment of all trades
concluded on HUPX. HUPX members will also be subject to the standard rules and contracts of ECC.

About the partners
HUPX Ltd. was established in May 2007 as a subsidiary company of MAVIR Hungarian Transmission
System Operator Company Ltd. to execute the operation of an efficient and transparent power
exchange. HUPX received its license to operate an organized power market in Hungary from the
national regulatory authority (Hungarian Energy Office) on 9th April, 2009.
EPEX Spot SE is a Paris-based company under European law (Societas Europae) with a branch in
Leipzig. The product range of EPEX Spot SE encompasses spot power trading for France,
Germany/Austria and Switzerland. These countries account for more than one third of the European
power consumption. In 2009, 203 TWh were traded on the EPEX Spot power markets by a
community of 185 members.
European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC) is a clearing house whose range of services comprises
clearing and settlement for exchange and over-the-counter transactions in energy. The Leipzig-based
company was established in the year 2006 with the spin-off and transfer of the clearing activities of
European Energy Exchange AG (EEX) to this subsidiary. Currently, ECC provides clearing as well as
physical and financial settlement of the transactions concluded on APX-ENDEX, CEGH Gas Exchange
of Wiener Börse, EEX, EPEX Spot and Powernext.

HUPX sur les rails pour démarrer son marché comme prévu
HUPX Ltd, en coopération avec ses partenaires EPEX Spot SE et European Commodity Clearing AG
(ECC), est en bonne voie pour lancer le marché day-ahead de l’électricité hongrois en juillet 2010,
comme prévu. HUPX Ltd est la seule société à disposer d’une licence pour opérer un marché
organisé de l’électricité en Hongrie.
La date-cible pour le lancement de HUPX reste le 1er juillet, sous réserve de la délivrance des
autorisations administratives et des résultats des tests et des simulations de la plateforme de
négociation.
Les membres de HUPX ont reçu leur dossier d’adhésion ainsi qu’une version provisoire des règles de
marché, lesquelles sont actuellement en cours d’approbation par le Régulateur Hongrois de l’Energie
(MEH).
Le déploiement de la plateforme de négociation, EPEX Trading System, qui sera utilisée par HUPX,
débutera en mai pour les membres de HUPX. Ces derniers seront invités à participer à des sessions
de simulation qui leur permettront de se familiariser avec ce nouveau système et ses fonctionnalités.
Parallèlement, EPEX Trading System est actuellement en cours de déploiement pour les marchés
français, allemand/autrichien et suisse d’EPEX Spot.
European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC), qui gère la compensation et le règlement des transactions
des marchés d’EPEX Spot et d’autres bourses de l’énergie, assurera aussi la compensation et le
règlements des transactions conclues sur HUPX. Les membres deHUPX seront soumis aux règles et
contrats d’ECC.

HUPX wie geplant auf dem Weg zum Betriebsstart
In Zusammenarbeit mit ihren Partnern, der EPEX Spot SE und der European Commodity Clearing
AG (ECC), ist die HUPX Ltd. planmäßig auf dem Weg zum Start des ungarischen Day-ahead Marktes
im Juli 2010. Die HUPX Ltd ist das einzige für den Betrieb eines organisierten Strommarktes in
Ungarn lizensierte Unternehmen.
Vorbehaltlich der notwendigen administrativen und regulatorischen Genehmigungen sowie der
Simulationsergebnisse der Handelsplattform bleibt der 1. Juli das angestrebte Datum für den Start
der HUPX.
Die HUPX Mitglieder haben ihr Mitgliedschaftspaket sowie einen Entwurf der Marktregeln erhalten,
die momentan durch die ungarische Energiebehörde für die Erteilung der Genehmigung geprüft
werden.
Die Einrichtung des EPEX Handelssystems, das auch von der HUPX eingesetzt werden wird, startet im
Mai für die HUPX Teilnehmer. Für die HUPX Teilnehmer werden Simulationen angeboten, in denen
sie geschult werden und die sie nutzen können, um sich mit den Funktionalitäten des
Handelssystems vertraut zu machen. Dieses neue System wird momentan auch von EPEX Spot für
ihre eigenen Marktgebiete Frankreich, Deutschland, Österreich und Schweiz umgesetzt.
Die European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC), die das Clearing und die Abwicklung nicht nur für alle
EPEX Spot Märkte sondern auch für eine Vielzahl weiterer Energiebörsen erbringt, stellt die Erfüllung
sämtlicher an der HUPX geschlossener Geschäfte sicher. Die HUPX Mitglieder unterliegen ebenfalls
den Standardvorschriften und -verträgen der ECC.

Über die Partner
HUPX Ltd. wurde im Mai 2007 als Tochterunternehmen der MAVIR Hungarian Transmission System
Operator Company Ltd. gegründet, um den Betrieb einer effizienten und transparenten Strombörse
zu übernehmen. Die HUPX erhielt am 9. April 2009 von der nationalen Regulierungsbehörde (der
ungarischen Energiebehörde) die Lizenz für den Betrieb eines organisierten Strommarktes.
Die EPEX Spot SE ist eine Gesellschaft europäischen Rechts (Societas Europaea) mit eingetragenem
Sitz in Paris und einer Niederlassung in Leipzig. Die Produktpalette der EPEX Spot SE umfasst den
Stromspothandel für Frankreich, Deutschland, Österreich und die Schweiz. Diese Länder umfassen
zusammen mehr als ein Drittel des europäischen Stromverbrauchs. Im Jahr 2009 wurden an den
Stromspotmärkten der EPEX Spot von insgesamt 185 Teilnehmern 203 TWh gehandelt.
Die European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC) ist ein Clearinghaus, dessen Leistungspektrum Clearing
und Abwicklung von börsliche und außerbörsliche Geschäfte in Energie umfasst. Entstanden ist das in
Leipzig ansässige Unternehmen im Jahre 2006 mit der Ausgründung und Überführung der
Clearingaktivitäten der European Energy Exchange AG (EEX) in diese Tochtergesellschaft. Die ECC
übernimmt derzeit das Clearing sowie die physische und finanzielle Abwicklung von Geschäften, die
an der APX-ENDEX, CEGH Gas Exchange der Wiener Börse, EEX, EPEX Spot sowie an der Powernext
