Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I am pleased to report that the work picture remains very strong in our jurisdiction. We have
almost 100 travelers from across Canada now working in Local 586 Ottawa. This trend looks
like it will continue for the foreseeable future.
We are also in the process of securing a large 20 Mega-watt Solar project in St. Isadore which
will need considerable manpower in the next 2 months. If you are interested in working on a
solar farm please contact Kurt at the union hall.
I trust the membership is having a great summer and enjoying the fantastic weather with
friends and family.

C’est avec grand plaisir que je vous annonce que la scène du travail demeure
prometteuse dans notre territoire de compétence. Près de 100 de nos voyageurs de
partout au Canada travaillent présentement au Local 586 Ottawa. Il semblerait que
cette tendance se maintiendra dans un avenir prévisible.
Nous travaillons actuellement aussi à décrocher un projet solaire de 20 mégawatts
dans la région de St-Isidore, ce qui nécessitera un personnel considérable au
courant des deux prochains mois. Si vous êtes intéressés à travailler dans une
ferme solaire, veuillez communiquer avec Kurt au Union Hall.

Our next regular monthly meeting will be held Monday August 16th, 2010 @ 7:00 p.m. at 1178 Rainbow Street,
Gloucester, Ontario. COME OUT AND TAKE AN ACTIVE PART! To be admitted, you must present an official
receipt for at least the month of June 2010. The supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. before the general meeting.
RETIREES MEETING:
The next meeting will be held Monday August 16th, 2010 at 10:00am.

 On September 26th, 2010, the IBEW will be participating in the “1st Bike For Beats” event, a one day cycling
fund raiser for the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Anyone interested in joining the team, please contact

 IBEW CHILDREN’S XMAS PARTY – This year the kid’s party will be held on Sunday December 12th, 2010.
Call the hall to register your children – give name, age and sex. Stay tuned for more information.
 IBEW ADULT XMAS PARTY – Will be held on December 4th, 2010 at the Skyline Hotel a6 6:00 p.m. (now
the Crown Plaza) Tickets are $25 each and includes dinner, awards and prizes. The music will be supplied by
“Joe Turner’s Fifth Street Band”.

DUES – It is the responsibility of each and every member to make sure their dues are UP TO DATE, regardless of
contractor error or payment lost in the mail. There is a re-instatement fee of $30.00 if dues go past 3 months in arrears.
Six months in arrears and you are dropped from membership. Notices are NOT sent out to advise of arrears!!! Please
call the union hall if you have any questions regarding your dues status.

 Le 26 septembre 2010, FIOE 586 auront une équipe de bicyclistes dans la première événement de “Bike For
Beats” qui ramasses des fonds pour l’Institut de Cardiologie de l’Université d’Ottawa. Pour plus amples

NOTICE FOR APPRENTICES
You need to complete the 30hr Health & Safety, Basic Code Book and Construction I BEFORE you go to
Basic Trade School!
If you have not completed the required pre trade school training you will NOT be eligible for reimbursement
for trade school registration cost.
Effective May 1, 2010, all apprentices have to bring their Instructor Observation and Evaluation form
with their official school transcripts and receipt in order to be reimbursed.
